The monorail system in KL has once again hit the news – for the wrong reasons. This time the train stalled when power was cut after the system detected a traction problem.
The loss of power resulted in the air-conditioning being shut down making it difficult for some passengers to breathe. Full report in NST.
And Down Under, Sydney is scrapping its monorail soon. There were red faces after passengers had to be rescued following a power cut.
But over in India, a Malaysian firm is involved in trial runs for a monorail system in Mumbai due to be commissioned in the middle of the year (See Indian Express).

Does that surprise you, Anil ? We all know there were there not to serve the people but an opportunity for some well connected ones to make mega bucks.
Aiyoh… it was also reported elsewhere that yesterday at 6:30pm another monorail train had stopped near Chow Kit when its tyre burst. No injuries.

Tyre pancit? Surely it could NOT be something ridiculous like pakai until past botak or Grade B punya celup…
Whatever it was, 2 incidents on that one short track in one day does not exactly inspire confidence.
Is this things to look forward if they put the monorail in Penang
Ric
Hi Ric, I think they have shelved the idea – at least I hope so.
