A temporary reprieve (see below).

It is time to step up the pressure against the federal Transport Ministry, the federally controlled Penang Port Commission, and the privatised Penang Port Sdn Bhd, which is linked to Sea Terminal under Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.

We are not just demanding that the ferries not be reduced from 1 January. We want MORE ferries. If not, hand over the ferry service to the Penang state government.

GEORGE TOWN: In an unexpected turn of events, the Penang Port Commission (SPPP) has requested Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) to postpone the new ferry schedule route between the island and mainland Penang.

In a statement released to the media late yesterday evening, PPSB Senior General Manager (Corporate Service Division) Rosihan Adi Baharuddin said the decision was made in a meeting at 2.30pm on Wednesday.

The postponement is expected to last at least until the next SPPP board meeting scheduled for January.

On Dec 3, PPSB announced that it will reduce the number of ferries operating between the island and mainland from the current four to three starting Jan 1 next year.

It also announced a reduction in operating hours for the ferry services.

I hope Anil could write on positive news as we usher in the new year.
2015 has been bad for Malaysians, and we have seen many negative news on this blog.
Here’s wishing Anil and readers a Happy New Year.

Strangely (unlike the past) there was no live concert cum 2016 countdown cum fireworks on local TV at midnight to usher in the new year. Could it be a new ‘pekeliling’ for Islamic nation?

Berselawat event at Dataran Merdeka, so no countdown to 2016 like previous years? It could the beginning of a new trend, just like the practice in Brunei?

Anyway, Happy New Year to all.
At least you get 10sen cheaper for Ron95 to start your new year.

Anil’s blog is getting influential and putting pressure on PPSB to defer its unpopular plan.

Any update on the eviction of Kampung Mutiara? Does the land owner has the right to evict those squatters without paying compensation?
