Utusan workers are demanding better terms from their employer. But the firm’s revenue shows a drop from the previous period.
Fourth quarter unaudited profits dropped substantially as “other operating expenses” soared to RM17.3 million from RM1.9 million for the same period in 2007.

Utusan today is a far cry from the Utusan of the pre-Independence and early years of nationhood. UMNO destroyed Utusan and the hardworking independent-minded Utusan journos like Said Zahari etc. back in 1961. In those days the journos had brains and had principles. They lived and fought for the principles they believed in. The Utusan journos these days don’t have it in them to fight or to even think through any self-respecting strategy.
