How did this private member’s bill rise up the agenda yet again despite government assurances that it would not table the bill?

Tiga sebab RUU355 harus ditepikan/Here are three reasons why the bill must be voted down:

1) Ia akan mengubah watak negara seperti yang terkandung dalam rangka perlembagaan 1957.

It will change the character of the nation as envisaged in the 1957 constitutional framework.

2) Ia akan menyebabkan polarisasi di kalangan kumpulan etnik dan agama yang berbeza di Malaysia, sekiranya mereka diberi keadilan dan penalti yang berbeza di bawah dua sistem perundangan.

It will result in polarisation among the different ethnic and religious groups in Malaysia, given the differing treatment and penalties under two systems of judicial administration.

3) Ia boleh menjejaskan ekonomi dengan cara yang kita tidak dapat menjangka atau meramalkan sekarang.

It could affect the economy in ways we cannot even anticipate now.

Can u explain how ruu355 will change the constituion framework?
Even today muslims who commit syariah offense eg drinking liquor or gamble tjey are subject to syariah punishment i.e. 3 yeara inprisonment 6x rotan etc. Ruu355 just enhance the punishment. So what is the problem?

If ruu355 is not legal then the country has being running illegal syariah law 7nder act 355 for soany years now!!!

Firstly, all DAP politicians should apologize to all their voters and supporters for cooperating with PAS in the first place. It was Anthony Loke of DAP Rasah who said Chinese shouldn’t be afraid of hudud , so why the u-turn by DAP ? Why on earth non-Malays blame UMNO or PAS for RUU 355? PAS is an Islamic party, so it’s natural that they will pursue an Islamic agenda. It’s DAP that convinced the voters to vote PAS in the first place, so why the hostility now against PAS? Bottom line , DAP is the fox who eat chickens (a.k.a.… Read more »

Engineer is still harping on old issues, perhaps still being traumatized by MCA being decimated to 7-11 after the last GE?

Again, what does this got to do with MCA? I’ll say it again, it was DAP who cooperated with PAS in the first place. It was Anthony Loke who asked naive Chinese voters not to be afraid of hudud. Why none of you guys blame DAP, the real cunning fox?

Tabled but debate put off, Najib is squeezing it for all it’s worth. GE will be held before debate so both Najib and Hadi can milk it for all it’s worth.

Like it or not, If UMNO wins the GE, Islamic state is guaranteed, Syariah law of the land eventually. Najib will excuse his irresponsibility no matter what happens.

If Sarawakians and Sabahan do not get it, it’s for certain.

The Parliament is dead, and the nation is being driven down a dangerous path, the son of former deputy prime minister Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman lamented today following the tabling of the amendment to Act 355.

Mohamed Tawfik Ismail, said today was a sad day for Malaysia, as Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia had pressed on with the tabling of the motion, despite him having served an originating summons to Pandikar yesterday to deter the matter amendments being tabled in Parliament today.

According to Yang Razali Kassim, senior fellow with the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore: This slap in the face for Hadi (by Najib) comes as PAS is preparing for its party election in late April. The coming PAS Muktamar or general assembly has suddenly taken on added importance and could plant the seeds of rising opposition to Mr Hadi’s leadership. A former PAS leader Husam Musa has called on Hadi and the entire PAS leadership to step down over the Syariah Bill debacle. The second impact of Najib’s U-turn could be on Umno’s internal politics.… Read more »

Good comment by negarawan on MsiaKini: The indifference of the Umno government towards the unilateral conversion bill, and the rush to table the hudud bill is yet another clear evidence that the government is practicing islamic extremism. It is a blatant lie that Malaysia is a moderate islamic country. Some would even argue if there is such a thing as “moderate islam”. Also, Malaysia became the laughing stock again when Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya seems to be endorsing paedophilia by suggesting that a rape victim could marry the rapist to achieve resolution, and that young girls as young as… Read more »

Is LGE in Parliament? Or is he so busy finding out and trying to “expose” his findings that almost 1,500 voters had been shifted from N35 Batu Uban to Batu Maung (Malik’s seat)?

Is this more important than opposing RUU355?

Fikir fikirkan!

Teresa Kok has filed a RM1 million defamation suit against red-shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today. The suit is over the Sungai Besar Umno chief’s accusation against the DAP lawmaker of allegedly abusing the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE).
