In a Holy Thursday service that highlights Jesus’ call to serve with humility, Pope Francis broke with Vatican tradition by washing the feet of juvenile offenders (including women, atheists and people of other faiths).
This could be the precursor of greater engagement and dialogue with people of other faiths and a new prominence given to the role of women. And greater attention being given to the plight of the socially excluded and the ‘outcasts’ of society.
