The “Malay unity” is often an elusive ideal. It tends to reappear when political elites need a mobilizing tool to capture power or secure positions, rather than focusing on concrete socioeconomic reforms for ordinary citizens. True and lasting unity is historically difficult because multiple Malay-based parties (UMNO, PAS, Bersatu, PKR, Amanah) constantly compete with one another for political dominance and control of Putrajaya.
It is sad to see PKR is being diminished and potentially fade away. Millions of people supported this party in its early stages because they saw the much need changes and reforms coming in our toxic political landscape that was dominated by UMNO. But alas, it has proven to be the in the same mould as UMNO. What a shame.
The N9 poll results say it again and that’s the 3rd state in a row. PMX with DAP leaderships’ blind support have been abandoned by the people. Why must you give publicity of these useless claim from PAS?
This isn’t about giving a political party publicity; it’s about exposing where our money actually goes.
Dismissing this as a ‘useless claim’ ignores the hard mathematical reality that ‘federal funds’ don’t appear out of thin air.
Putrajaya writes that check using a central pool heavily subsidized by Penang’s own taxpayers. Ignoring the issue won’t stop the cash flow.
We absolutely need to talk about it because Penangites have a right to know that their hard-earned tax dollars are funding this legacy arrangement, all while our own local infrastructure is left begging for federal development budget.
The Penang state and federal government can be seen to be weak pandering to the whims and fancies of the neighbouring state’s demands.
It can also said to be hypocritical claiming to be a sovereign and independent state when they are seen paying money for Penang as rent or leasing even though they use fancy terms like grants and so forth.
The end result, the neighbouring state is now demanding for more like RM300 million. All this started by the 2018 PH coalition government.

There could be a lot of unhappy Rakyat on the mainland due to neglect and very very slow progress worse than a snail moving forward compared to development of Penang island.
