The by-election expected to be called in Tenang, Johor, following the passing of an Umno state assembly member, will be the 14th since 8 March 2008.

Thus far, the score reads 8-5 in Pakatan’s favour, but the last few results have gone BN’s way.

The Tenang by-election, in a mixed constituency, will be interesting as it will be the first time that Umno/BN in its stronghold of Johor since 2008.

In the general election that year. Umno won by 2,492 votes, its majority slashed from the 5,517 it achieved in 2004.

So is this by-election a meaninglessly predictable contest between parties and personalities nobody really cares about? I think we need some sort of political match-making site where voters and prospective candidates can get some early haggling in to try to align ideals, demands and ideologies – a kind of pre-election to give us some idea of who will stand for what and how many will vote for it. If nobody knows who is going to stand until the week before the election, how is an Independent or a small party to know whether they stand a chance or not of… Read more »

The trend of by-election or more appropriate, buy-election is expectation of $$$$ coming the voters’ way. Either you take it or you don’t depending on conscience and financial circumstance. It is liken to getting unsolicited ‘ang pow’ but from public fund. The dirty onus is: you scratch my back, I scratch yours. And the tactic has changed – only get the so called ‘reward’ after the voting result has gone to their favor. This is the only desirable attraction of buy-election. Knowing who to stand, who to vote is non consequential. Financial self satisfaction becomes the norm of buy-election day… Read more »

HO ho ho, buy election time. It’s good for the voters in Tenang. Squeeze as much as you can. Now you are the king makers. Make your demands. Don’t lose this golden opportunity you’ll never can get in normal election.

The people in Tenang hit a jackpot!

The buy election will bring wealth to them.
Start making all the demand for this and that and BN will surely fulfill it.

For once I hope my MP will also go…

After all he has not done anything positive to the rakyat.

Most of the Chinese in Johor are either busy making money in Singapore, or losing money in Singapore casinos or staying at home watching Singapore’s MediaCorp TV programs. Life is good to them

So they do not bother about local politics thinking that mca will defend them.

This is very sad.

Sad indeed. That we have sections of the populace still thinking like the proverbial toads in coconut glass shells. To them life is just merry-making money as long as they are not threatened in lifelihood or opportunities. They care not as long as they can send their children to nearby Singapore for a better education. They care not as long as they can enjoy the good life and economic opportunities just across the border. They care not as long as the status quo is maintained for the continuity of their status quo. Why rock? To them, what happens in other… Read more »

Not yet! It looks more like falling ten pins. One by one thro’ natural death. Fire and brimstone will most likely be the last finale for all to see. More for the confrontation arena between good and evil like Armageddon’s open field so no innocent bystanders will be hurt. Supernatural display of force will then be very deadly for these minion evils who doesn’t believe in the Almighty. The omenous signs are as clear as broad daylight yet these recalcitrants persist on their evils to this hour. This is the best by-election so far !!!- quote the rejoicing Gerakan K.… Read more »

Incompetent? These people should stop spending so much time drinking cocktails and talking nonsense.

They obviously haven’t seen the dvd “Caligula East”. Set during the Chua dynasty when yet another Mongolian invasion was successfully thwarted, it is a tale of lust, deception, stamina and hidden cameras (which were inadvertently left behind after the last Back to the Past sequel).

Now, that’s what I call entertainment.

BN relies on Malay votes in Johor, nothing to shout about.

Chua Sok Lek should pray hard for Chinese voters swing back to BN. Johor MCA hardly gained >50% Chinese votes in the past and they hided under the “sarung” for their seats is an open secret.
