Ho-hum, another year, another auditor-general’s report with the usual outrages.

What else is new – when will all these practices ever stop?

Of course, we also have to bear in mind that the auditor-general’s report doesn’t usually cover the big-time corporate sweet-heart deals, mega contracts and concessions awarded to crony firms. Usually the report focuses on the ‘nasi lemak’-type of hanky panky further down the ‘food chain’ involving ‘ikan bilis’ amounts only.

Abuse and wastage of public fund as uncovered in the AG’s Report is hardly mentioned on NST, The Star, Utusan and BH. However, plenty of reporting with reproduction of pictures in the AG 2013 Report can be found on Chinese newspapers.
