Several dozen youths and activists gathered in Penang for a spirited 100-minute protest gathering in solidarity with the global Youth Strike for Climate protest.

The protest began at 5.10pm along busy Sungai Dua Road just outside the USM gate. Among the diverse crowd were youths, university students, a few lecturers, environmentalists, bicycle enthusiasts, veteran activists, international visitors to Penang – and even a barefooted poet.

Eating less meat is a surefire way to lower your carbon footprint. Beef and lamb are large sources of methane, a notorious global warming gas. Consider this: a single pound of beef takes over 5,000 gallons of water to generate. You don’t have to go vegan or vegetarian, but consider “Meatless Mondays” or abstaining whenever possible.

Dr Mahathir said that Malaysian youths must understand that if they want more pay, they have to be more productive.

“If they are productive, they can have more pay, simply because they are productive through better education and training.

“But, simply because you are powerful, you have the union, you can go on strikes and destroy the whole economy. The end result is they will lose out,” he said.

No need guessing why the dried weeds in the graveyards esp in United Hokkien Cemeteries (Paya Terubong + Batu Lancang) get burn annually!
Voluntary combustion or a work of some irresponsible fire starters… ?
Bomba is too obliging to dose out these fires. Should slap a hefty fine (Rm50,000) for each fire before Cheng Beng.
