Why are the Orang Asli protesting?

Some 2,000 Orang Asli have protested today in Putrajaya while 12,000 have signed a memorandum.

It’s all to do with the government’s proposed Orang Asli land policy, which one analyst has decribed as a recipe for planned poverty.

Check out the reason for their unhappiness here.

Confident that PR already has a well thought out proposal for the Orang Asli?
Then when they walk into power in a just a MATTER of TIME, they merely need to fine tune and announce it as one of the New Government’s initiatives for the poor.
By and large they have been ignored, all these decades. Besides, the small token dished out by the UMNO administration (if any), the Catholic Church too assist them in any way they can.
So PR, over to you!

Yes, orang asli is the REAL bumi here but how come they are like the outcast in this Bolehland. Why??? I think what the Bible says is true, “My people perish because lack of knowledge.” Pakatan leaders/MPs must reach out to this group of people, Orang Asli, the real BUMI in this land, wake them all up… It is very sad poor people are easily fooled… I hope the Orang Asli in Sabah and Sarawak are all fully awaken now and turn their backs against their BN leaders for fooling them in all these long years. Enough is enough, vote… Read more »

Hi everyone, The orang asli in Malaysia are the ‘real’ indigeneous people in the country. They’re the ones who should be given special privileges, not just per the NEP, but more of a purposeful protection of their customary land. Protect their 140000 hectares, or even more, from encroachment by vested and greedy interests! If the Federal and State Govts provide such purposeful protection to the orang asli, they would gain even more support from the rakyat. Don’t forget that in the 1999 GE, Dtk Najib won narrowly in Pekan due to support from the orang asli community there! Nonetheless, even… Read more »

No Thanks to 52 years of an UMNO BN corruptible government that have trampled the people`s rights.

Sarawak natives are cowards comparatively. Thanks to their Wakil Rakyat.

If you want land just come to sarawak. you can have a land for free and no resistance from the natives.

As a non-bumi, I propose this:

Let’s start calling the Orang Asli as “Real Bumiputera“, since they ARE.

Where is Ibrahim Ali, the ‘champion of Bumiputra’? I didn’t see him anywhere in the protest nor hear him saying anything to support the cause!

ha Ibrahim is champion of bumiputra in name only.
IN FACT HE IS THE CHAMPION OF BIG CHINESE BUSINESS MAN.

What has happened and continue to happen to orang Asli is the same as what happened to American Indians in the 19th century as the white men broke one treaty after another….

I truly hope that Orang Asli, all of them, have finally woke up now… and vote BN out in the next GE.

Najib spent too much time in Sarawak and Taib has taught him a thing or two, so he is trying his luck.

This what we call as sharing of information and cooperation
