Breakthrough in Kg Buah Pala negotiations

0049: It appears that some sort of agreement has been struck between the Penang state government and Kg Buah Pala committee members.

The residents and the state government will stand together with the residents on the deadline for vacant possession, according to a source.

The state government could revoke the permit or block approvals related to the project if demolition starts.

An attempt will also be made with the landowner to allow the residents to co-exist with the project.

Either way, it appears that the state government is taking a position in solidarity with the residents. It’s a calculated gambit.

It now remains to be seen how the developer will respond.

Details are sketchy at this point. The residents may be holding a press conference in the morning.

I hope all the squatters are treated this same way in other parts of this country. So far, I feel this is the BEST humanitarian treatment given by Penang Government.

At the same time, it didnt abuse state government funds.

BIG thank you to YAB Lim Guan Eng for setting up an example to all the Chief Ministers and Menteri Besar.

MIC IS TRYING TO SAVE THE VILLAGERS NOW. WHAT WAS MIC DOING DURING THE LAST GOVERNMENT’S TENURE WHEN THIS ISSUE WAS BROUGHT UP BY THE GERAKAN GOVERNMENT? SLEEPING? … THEY WERE CHEATED? WHAT ARE THE INDIANS DOING IN GERAKAN NOW? WASTING THEIR TIME TRYING TO HELP THE GERAKAN LEADERS COME TO POWER? GERAKAN IS HISTORY NOW.GERAKAN IS NOT FOR THE INDIANS. THE INDIANS SHOULD REALISE THIS. WHEN POWER AND WEALTH COMES THROUGH THE DOOR, THE POOR AND INNOCENT PEOPLE WILL BE PUSHED OUT OF THE WINDOW. THE INDIANS SHOULD REALISE THIS. On that “semi value” and his clown of zombies, please give that $3.2 million to help Maika instead. As a matter of fact the rakyat is wondering where they got hold this amount of money???? Enough from you… after 52+ years representing the Indian community. This episode is just one of the s*** you guys have created and left to the present PKR. This is yet another spin by LGE’s govt. This is nothing about solving the problem. The fact is that the village will be demolished come 3rd Aug. So what solution and bold move by LGE we are talking about. It is just that LGE is waving $$ to the residents so they will take the money and go away from his face. The demand of the resident is the preservation of their village and not money. At the end of the day LGE never solved the problem or fulfilled his electoral promises. The anger of the Indian community will be… Read more »

Here’s hoping the ideal of the Rule of Law and its allied principle Justice will give a very hard kick in the teeth to all (those who grabbed) that entrusted KBP land in Penang and tried to profit from it… at the expense of the entrusted land’s true owners, their more deprived fellow Penangites/Malaysians. Although it is clear to all rational/reasonable people that it was clearly KTK who screwed-up on this matter during his tenure as the previous CM – and who, like all public/private Chief Executives must therefore be held accountable by the citizens/stakeholders for any alleged breach of… Read more »

The poor people in this village were played out by the rich and those in power. This is the fate of these poor people. What was MIC rep doing in the government when this issue was mooted? What were Gerakan leaders doing then? The people here were barking at the wrong tree (Lim Guan Eng) and now they have realised that the whole issue is not the fault of his but the previous government. Hindraf should apologise to LGE. We now know who were the people who went on to deprive the poor people here a decent place to stay.… Read more »

We are in the dark on how the trust changed hand without a valid court order in sight. All parties are keeping mum on this matter. How a trustee sell the parcel under its trust and benefit from the sale…When and how the trust changed hand? Can some one from the state govt give a straight forward answer?

Meanwhile, if MIC is so sincere with their RM3.2 million, tell them to give the money to MAIKA Holdings to be paid back to poor Indians who were conned into putting their hard-earned money in MAIKA shares. Hail Vel Paari! You are the hero dah!

Finally it appears that reason has been given a chance. A peaceable solution seems to be at hand. This would explain MIC’s desperate ploy to offer to buy the land – they seek continued relevance.

Well, Penang better be prepared to be sued for $150 million! And if the … courts rule that Penang state must pay $150 million to the UMNO-(linked) corporation, then Penang will be bankrupt!…

This is a great development. An important step to at least decide on what matters most. The transaction done has been questionable but the courts have declined the residence their rights. The developer with its lingkage with the BN ruling govt is now caught in a bind. This means the developer is now having an issue of what actions to take. If they chose to go ahead to demolish, this would be seen as a affirmation that the BN govt is not 1Malaysia. Lingkage with UMNO will then put the people now on the side of the Pakatan Government. Once… Read more »
