1 July is the date when a range of subsidies and price caps are supposed to be removed. Of course, there are other ways to retain some of those critical subsidies. Check out this piece by K Veeriah in Aliran: Delay mega-projects and tax ultra-rich to raise funds for subsidies

Omega man

Where are you? You must come out and tell Harapan not to protest

https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/626787

You have 888 points to tell MCA BN is doing very well. If no 888, what about 8 points?

Mike

RM80 billion subsidy this year but what about extra earnings from patrol sold to the world? Petronas earnings must be made public to avoid potential hanky panky in accounting.

Rilakuma

Cooking oil price up almost 40% today.
Good excuse for hawkers and restaurants to up their menu price, unless you order steamed food.
Economy Rice may not be economic now as price of chicken, pork, eggs and vegetables also go up.
Truly BN Barang Naik under Sabri the Burberry Man.

Brocky

As the price difference is narrowing, I will now use sunflower seed oil or corn oil instead of palm oil. In a way it is a protest against the huge pay hike of FGV board of directors.

Malaysia is the only silly country in the world that has declared jihad (an Arabic word which literally means “striving” or “struggling”) to fight inflation, even though the entire world is basically facing the same economic problem. None of the 50 Muslim-majority countries, let alone 1.8 billion Muslims on planet Earth – except Malaysia – sees the need to declare jihad on inflation.

A very risky stunt invoking religion.

China’s Deng Xiaoping once said: “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, if it catches mice it is a good cat.”. Similarly, it does not matter what term the authorities want to give to fight the inflation if they can get the job done, its a good term to use.

Alive

China is no longer thinking of black Vs white (Binary thinking of yes Vs no). They have developed Qubit thinking eg. Entrepreneurship can thrive under Communism to make money towards Common Prosperity.

Alpha 888

Sorry to say this but ah am just a simple old man with a simple old mind living in his simple old ways.

If Deng Xiaoping says that, as long as the cat can catch a rat, it is a good cat to keep, regardless of what color it is, that’s good enough for me. How would you classify this now?

The man in the video is holding his book on the subject he wrote and spoke. Have you bought one?

Brocky

Not any cat that catches rat is good regardless of its colour, as China is clamping down on its tech companies like Alibaba and Tencent that enrich some at the expense of majority?

Omega 888

So, as per your statement, what you are saying is that, regardless of its colors, when it comes to catching rats, there are some bad cats and some good cats.

Mmmm, must be temperamental cats. How did Deng Xiaoping miss that.

Okay, so, what has this got to do with China clamping down on its tech companies ?

Subsidy for cooking palm oil for homes is now RM4 billion for 60,000 tonnes/month in 1-kg bags. Assuming a wild guess of 8 million domestic kitchens (including singles), that would mean that each home buys 7.5 bags (average) per month! Only now is an audit going to be launched.

Correction : 99.9% sounds too harsh so tone down to 88.8% lah.

1kg RM2.50 *5 = RM12.50. Unscrupulous traders can repack them in 5kg plastic bottle and sell for RM25 (48.88% profit taking into consideration plastic bottle cost) still cheaper to uninformed ones and some may be willing to pay for it desperately?

Omega 888

Even now, the hyper/super markets in my area says, its been weeks since they received any stocks of RM2.50 Palm cooking oil in poly bags. That’s kinda strange because the Government says it supplies more than enough to cover 30 million Rakyat at RM4 billion annually.
