Kuantan residents gathered at the Kuala Lumpur High Court expressed jubilation after the court ejected Lynas’ exparte injunction application under Malaysia’s defamation laws earlier today.

“Lynas failed to gag its Malaysian critics,” said an email from the Save Malayia group.

A bus-load of 40 Kuantan residents had gathered outside the court in protest. They are now returning to their home town “ready to take the Stop Lynas campaign to another new height in the near future!”

When contacted, Save Malaysia Stop Lynas spokesperson Tan Bun Teet confirmed the development. “Lynas is now supposed to serve papers on the group by 9 May regarding the grounds of defamation after which the court will fix the date of the hearing,” he said.
