Sinar Harian: Putrajaya stops the 20% rebate offered to frequent users of tolled highways on January 1.

Pengerusi NGO Gerakan Turun Kos Sara Hidup (TURUN) Azan Safar berkata penangkapan beliau sebelum ini cuba mengalih fokus masyarakat daripada masalah sebenar yang berlaku di negara ini.
Dr Mahathir said Putrajaya could minimise wastage and improve efficiency by applying a “cost down” concept to manage its growing expenses,by paying attention to the yearly AG’sReport on government waste. Dr Mahathir said: “We must accept that the government needs more money with the passage of time. But should the increase be as big as it says? The Government often wastes money because it is not too concerned about the returns on its expenditure in whatever form… If the Government is interested in reducing the cost of governance, it can do so and perhaps quite substantially. For example, the Government… Read more »
This coming from the father of privatisation, including the IPPs and tolled highways, in Malaysia. The irony of it all.
Azan Safar, chairman of Gerakan Turun Kos Sara Hidup (Turun), has been arrested for planning to protest against price hikes on New Year’s Eve, on the charge of plotting to overthrow the Government (labelled as “Himpunan Guling Kerajaan” )

I think the government should not subdue the voice of rakyat unhappy with recent spate of price hike.
Umno Baru n is worried that many Malay undergraduates are now emulating the spirits of Adam Adli and Azan Safar.
Anil
I think 2014 will see more protest against price hike.
I hope those BN folks do not agitate people with the ‘ubah gaya hidup’ advice again.
How can the police associate ‘Turun Harga’ as ‘Guling Kerajaan’?
This will stir up the university students even more?
PAS human rights and legal department, Lawyers for Liberty and several human rights lawyers have all volunteered to provide legal assistance to anyone arrested or intimidated by the police before, during and after the rally at Dataran Merdeka on 31 December.
Rich Daddy, Is it true that beside BRIM, there is another programme such as BRIM for senior citizen only. Many are asking me about it but I will check it out for them. Can you verify whether it is true.
@Yang,
everything you can find here https://ebr1m.hasil.gov.my/
BR1M for family and individual. Eg RM600 for 1 household + RM300 for each of single unmarried person in that household. Further example, there are father, mother + 3 unmarried sons above 21 yrs, so RM600 + 300 + 300 + 300 = RM1500 for that household.
I think BR1M for senior citizen / ‘orang tua sebatang kara’ means single person above 60yrs married or not entitled for RM600.
@sham
Today I witness lots of people asking how to apply for BR1M 2014. You can see the smiles and excitement for those people. Easy jobs for BN and uphill battle for PR. BN will win again if tomorrow we go to polls. The sole hope for PR is GST disaster for everyone 🙂
Rich Daddy: You can see the smiles and excitement for those people.
Well, temporary happiness, long term misery & maybe hunger on the economic road to Africa.
Unless the gomen stop feeding the leeching cronies, clamp down obscene leakages, downsize the over-populated public service & channel much needed monies to the Rakyat on the monthly basis, which Pinky-Panther Lip Service will find it a hard but honest act at Putrajaya in haste for a Viagra blood-surging-passion solution. Why not our local Tongkat Ali from the Orang Asli in Belum rainforest? Cheap & readily available without the pharmacy’s public knowledge.
@tunglang,
true but that is human nature, or Malaysians characteristics – – -> malaysians mudah lupa 🙂 🙂 🙂
The real issue is that in 4 years from now, what will remind people of these pain? You can bet your money, the deficit will NOT be reduced despite all these taxes and cost increase but UMNO hope the kampung folks don’t understand what “deficit” means (In actual fact, when Najib asked whether to increase tax or toll, the reply should have been tax EVEN THEN) You can bet that the MRT project ridership will fall short and they will have to impose potentially tax on car into the city or something else (in the name of encouraging public transport)… Read more »
syam : Do you know with a minimumn salary of RM 1200, how much expenditure would be incurred by a company employing only 50 workers let alone 500 – 3000 worker. On top of that transportation charges and other miscellaneous. Salary wise there will be more EPF and Socso deduction. Come on man, please use your head and start calculating.
Still stuck in labour intensive mindset to exploit poor workers?
Pay skilled workers higher salary and he could easily replace 3 unskilled workers.
This is the path for high income nation.
But Umno cronies benefit as middlemen importing pendatang asking as low cost low skill workers.
SMEs in Msia facing a tough year ahead. Human labor cost goes up like others. All the while too complacent to rely on cheap labour and not look far to invest in technology like automation to improve productivity.
Who says that GST will not have any effect o the kampong folks ?
Well, let me tell you this it involves everyone and on everything, just like your water, electricity, utilities, telephone bills and etc, and etc !
Worry about price hike. No where to go, Not much to spend this Christmas.
Don`t worry, Come enjoy this Christmas, 25th Dec. 2 pm Padang Kota, Penang.
Lots of Entertainment & Free Makan. Complimentary of BN Najib Open House.
All are welcome including you Anil. Does not matter whether you are BN or PR pro.
All in the spirit of Malaysian solidarity
Thanks for the invitation. hmmm…
Open House near Speakers Corner so the best platform for Yang to voice out and he gets both pro bn pro pakatan audience to judge his capability and judgement.
Got Psy free concert or not ???
Go ask your sugardaddy Jho Low!
The stinking Najib GOM has to be made redundant any which way we can before the Pakatan can resort to fortifying and correcting their shortcomings. This is the fate of more than 27 million being `kuda tunggangan’ those shameless and immoral `freeloaders!’
Does all other governments support their Ministers free Palaces, utilities and petrol on top of jetting around for pleasure (on cooked up excuses) and private events of their unelected/non-Minister Spouses?
This one from Malaysia is unbelievable stinking shameless, immoral social-climber turn
RipOff mad… who think she is God’s answer to Malaysians majority!
What if PR Anwar had won the election. Together with DAP LGE they promise a minimum salary of RM 1200. Would that not let to a hike in prices.
Not hike in price Ananars ! More ample money to buy food to fill the stomach that’s all.
you know how much Milk Powder cost these days ?
Ha ! this is what I call Anwar syndrome. Unrealistic and promise the moon at anytime and opportunity. As a former election worker, I know this ‘promise the moon’ proposal won’t work in rural Malay areas. If you want to win, you have to change the approach to woe rural votes. There are nicknames for Anwar in rural areas, Anil, you can censor it if it sounds offending, e.g. kaki kelentong, kaki buntut 🙂
Ananars
Pay 2 skilled persons higher wages to do 3 persons job to achieve higher productivity.
Win-win for employer-employees.
Understand?
Anil
Ku Li is now a new patron of Perkasa?
You mahu Barang Naik atau Pecah Ringgit
GST will not affect kampong folks?
You are wrong, their children working in the cities will have less disposable income, thus will repatriate less amount of money to their kampong folks.
In time to come the kampong folks will also rise up to protest!
Everyone KENA under GST. GST is not about luxury items as some people trying to convince us. The entire supply chain affected, luxury products or not. See the art of deception by ruling party. This is the chance for oppositions to score major and important points. They need to capitalize this opportunity for next GE. Usually the GST introducer will lose their office in next election. But I have doubt in Anwar ability to present this GST issue logically to rural Malay folks. Let’s face it, the opposition needs Malays votes badly and most Chinese + sizable Indian almost guaranteed… Read more »
Rich Daddy
latest lingo go around the rural area not BR1M but TR1M.
You know what T stands for ?
Go ask the awakened kampung folks
Rich Daddy confused by Robert Kiyosaki’s book?
it’s a matter of time before the working class get fed up with Barang Naik.
quote : http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/barisan-nasionals-populist-moves-delayed-price-hikes-but-leaving-a-stronger
BN’s move to delay the price hikes and a mandatory minimum wage law ahead of the general election has resulted in growing anger among the middle and lower classes, especially those who supported the ruling coalition, as they cope with increased costs with a shrinking ringgit.
Frankly speaking whoever helm the govt, increase of prices is inevitable. Its how the govt will take measure to ensure that increase will be minimal and ensure that the economy will not go downward. PR DAP Anwar & LGE they are good at criticizing but not giving out solutuion. As for DAP & LGE like a spoilt child they keep calling names kucing kurap, racist grandmother and so on such as the MCA election. . Election is over and we need solutions. What does MCA election concern LGE after all. Whether they are potent or not let us decide next… Read more »
this is BN (Bargain & Negotiatioans) over Barang Naik issues
We should form a group to protest against pricey houses in Penang. Yang should be nominated as the group President.
Yang be the vocal leader at Komtar with Rich Daddy being financial backing from Rich Daddy ?
If so do it on anyday except Friday as this day has been block-booked for events like black cake presentation …..
Yang be bold to raise the issue on physical platform. If not you are meowing toothless paper tiger.
You can earn Yang Berhormat title from the ralyat if you are able to show a better proposal to manage housing matter in Penang.
Currently you are not perceived well because you are just armchair critic yang biasa.
So see you at Speakers’ Corner at Esplanade this Sunday. We rakyat want to hear whats your points.
Ha ha ask anil set aside few pieces of gold bars donated by this blog readers 🙂
Haha, funny..
… Should do like the Thais, they pour out like rivers of humans that the GOT has seen nothing like them..
Too much belacan and calok dulled the (people) and they are the most INSOLVENT and miskin papa kedana who voted the setans … into Putrajaya!
(They) take salaray allowances and what have you and at the same time `treat themselves’ to free (mansions), utilities and petrol. As if jetting around is on (water)?
BUT we suffer too half the paycheck go to api, air toll and kids busfare not including petrol…
You were warned, on numerous times, before the GE that the new taxes and the reduction of subsidise will take place after the GE. Yet some of you still voted for the Umno warlords and these very same people are now complaining and protesting against the implementation of these policies. Are these actions a little too late or shall I say way too late because you were warned of the inevitable actions of these (people). All you can do now is make sure regardless of what the warlords are going to promise you before the next GE just remember leopards… Read more »
“promise you including the path to heaven”
Ha ha that sounds familiar to me, that green logo right ??? Also the ones promise you that they are the guardians of your race, religion and language !!!
Lagu ‘Barang Naik’:
For anybody else, one is definitely against price hike because it affect one pocket. Let us put it this way, If there is no subsidy in the first place then the price hike would not have been because of the govt but a world wide phenomenon or there may be no price increase at all as prices are already market based. And let us not just blame one side but both BN & PR. Did not PR Selangor increase business license by more than 100%. Salary increase of up to 300% further aggravate the situation. Who is to be blamed… Read more »
Laporan Dari Al Jazeera Tentang Kesusahan Rakyat Malaysia…
Najib’s famous quote ‘endless possibilities’ is going to haunt him.
2014 will be a year of endless price increases for Malaysia.
Petrol and sugar have gone up, now electricity rates, toll rates, school bus fares and assessment rates in KL.
My daily diet roti canai & teh susu prices will not stay stattic for long.
Ai Yoh Now we are eyeing a Big Spending rakyat !
The study by the Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Democracy and Elections (UMCEDEL) showed that:
1) Support for the BN administration will drop further if it fails to deal with the rising cost of living experienced by Malaysians
2) 61% of respondents disagreed with the Government’s plan to introduce GST in 2015.
