Pengerusi NGO Gerakan Turun Kos Sara Hidup (TURUN) Azan Safar berkata penangkapan beliau sebelum ini cuba mengalih fokus masyarakat daripada masalah sebenar yang berlaku di negara ini.

Dr Mahathir said Putrajaya could minimise wastage and improve efficiency by applying a “cost down” concept to manage its growing expenses,by paying attention to the yearly AG’sReport on government waste. Dr Mahathir said: “We must accept that the government needs more money with the passage of time. But should the increase be as big as it says? The Government often wastes money because it is not too concerned about the returns on its expenditure in whatever form… If the Government is interested in reducing the cost of governance, it can do so and perhaps quite substantially. For example, the Government… Read more »

Azan Safar, chairman of Gerakan Turun Kos Sara Hidup (Turun), has been arrested for planning to protest against price hikes on New Year’s Eve, on the charge of plotting to overthrow the Government (labelled as “Himpunan Guling Kerajaan” )

I think the government should not subdue the voice of rakyat unhappy with recent spate of price hike.

I hope those BN folks do not agitate people with the ‘ubah gaya hidup’ advice again.

Rich Daddy, Is it true that beside BRIM, there is another programme such as BRIM for senior citizen only. Many are asking me about it but I will check it out for them. Can you verify whether it is true.

@Yang,

everything you can find here https://ebr1m.hasil.gov.my/

BR1M for family and individual. Eg RM600 for 1 household + RM300 for each of single unmarried person in that household. Further example, there are father, mother + 3 unmarried sons above 21 yrs, so RM600 + 300 + 300 + 300 = RM1500 for that household.

I think BR1M for senior citizen / ‘orang tua sebatang kara’ means single person above 60yrs married or not entitled for RM600.

Today I witness lots of people asking how to apply for BR1M 2014. You can see the smiles and excitement for those people. Easy jobs for BN and uphill battle for PR. BN will win again if tomorrow we go to polls. The sole hope for PR is GST disaster for everyone 🙂

Well, temporary happiness, long term misery & maybe hunger on the economic road to Africa.

Unless the gomen stop feeding the leeching cronies, clamp down obscene leakages, downsize the over-populated public service & channel much needed monies to the Rakyat on the monthly basis, which Pinky-Panther Lip Service will find it a hard but honest act at Putrajaya in haste for a Viagra blood-surging-passion solution. Why not our local Tongkat Ali from the Orang Asli in Belum rainforest? Cheap & readily available without the pharmacy’s public knowledge.

The real issue is that in 4 years from now, what will remind people of these pain? You can bet your money, the deficit will NOT be reduced despite all these taxes and cost increase but UMNO hope the kampung folks don’t understand what “deficit” means (In actual fact, when Najib asked whether to increase tax or toll, the reply should have been tax EVEN THEN) You can bet that the MRT project ridership will fall short and they will have to impose potentially tax on car into the city or something else (in the name of encouraging public transport)… Read more »

syam : Do you know with a minimumn salary of RM 1200, how much expenditure would be incurred by a company employing only 50 workers let alone 500 – 3000 worker. On top of that transportation charges and other miscellaneous. Salary wise there will be more EPF and Socso deduction. Come on man, please use your head and start calculating.

Pay skilled workers higher salary and he could easily replace 3 unskilled workers.

Ha ! this is what I call Anwar syndrome. Unrealistic and promise the moon at anytime and opportunity. As a former election worker, I know this ‘promise the moon’ proposal won’t work in rural Malay areas. If you want to win, you have to change the approach to woe rural votes. There are nicknames for Anwar in rural areas, Anil, you can censor it if it sounds offending, e.g. kaki kelentong, kaki buntut 🙂

Everyone KENA under GST. GST is not about luxury items as some people trying to convince us. The entire supply chain affected, luxury products or not. See the art of deception by ruling party. This is the chance for oppositions to score major and important points. They need to capitalize this opportunity for next GE. Usually the GST introducer will lose their office in next election. But I have doubt in Anwar ability to present this GST issue logically to rural Malay folks. Let’s face it, the opposition needs Malays votes badly and most Chinese + sizable Indian almost guaranteed… Read more »

it’s a matter of time before the working class get fed up with Barang Naik.

quote : http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/barisan-nasionals-populist-moves-delayed-price-hikes-but-leaving-a-stronger

BN’s move to delay the price hikes and a mandatory minimum wage law ahead of the general election has resulted in growing anger among the middle and lower classes, especially those who supported the ruling coalition, as they cope with increased costs with a shrinking ringgit.

As for DAP & LGE like a spoilt child they keep calling names kucing kurap, racist grandmother and so on such as the MCA election. . Election is over and we need solutions. For anybody else, one is definitely against price hike because it affect one pocket. Let us put it this way, If there is no subsidy in the first place then the price hike would not have been because of the govt but a world wide phenomenon or there may be no price increase at all as prices are already market based. And let us not just blame one side but both BN & PR. Did not PR Selangor increase business license by more than 100%. Salary increase of up to 300% further aggravate the situation. The study by the Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Democracy and Elections (UMCEDEL) showed that:

1) Support for the BN administration will drop further if it fails to deal with the rising cost of living experienced by Malaysians

2) 61% of respondents disagreed with the Government’s plan to introduce GST in 2015.
