Aliran releases music video to commemorate Human Rights Day

Check out this new music video released by Aliran.

That should maybe counter some of the negative vibes in the air today.

I don’t expect the Pas-Umno rally to exceed the turnouts at the Bersih rallies, which ran into a few hundred thousand. The Pas 355 rally in February 2017 drew around 20,000 – so ma be the rally today might get double that ie close to 50,000.

Let’s see what happens. Enjoy the weekend.

Update 1: a political scientist-friend at the scene of the rally tells me the crowd is at most 50,000 just after 2pm.

Update 2: In the end, looking at aerial photos, I estimate the crowd to be between 50,000 and 100,000 ie a bit larger than my guess of 50,000 but still smaller than the Bersih rallies.

Unhappy mahasiswa to join anti-Icerd rally
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018/12/08/unhappy-students-to-join-antiicerd-rally/

PTPTN fiasco shows that our country can save tax payers’ money by reducing the intake of local university undergraduates, and less burden on PTPTN. Currently there are close to 15K unemployed graduates, and those with jobs cannot repay PTPTN loan even RM50/month. In other words we have been producing graduates with irrelevan skills that cannot secure good paying jobs. PH government should instead channel more resources for TVET education as vocational skills can guarantee jobs and reduce our dependency on foreign labour.

No skills future no job.
Cannot depend on government aid forever since national debt already high.
Malays must face the reality.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir announced that the overhaul of Malaysian education will diminish the current focus on religion.

https://www.malaymail.com/s/1705356/for-education-overhaul-pm-moots-cutting-back-on-religion-studies

“Someone changed the curriculum in school and now national schools have become religious schools.

“They are all learning about the religion of Islam and not learning anything else. As a result, those who pass in school are not very conversant with subjects that are useful for them to get jobs, but they are very good ulama,” he said.

Over-stated profits, under-stated value of assets, an unbalanced profile of depositors and questionable transactions were all uncovered in the review of the financial position of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

The consultants highlighted that TH was sitting on up to RM10.2bil in losses of its domestic and international equities as of October this year and its liabilities outstripped assets by RM9bil.

The days of easy money is over. The bumi institutions like Tabung Haji (perniagaan tak sah, hibah haram?), Felda, Mara etc all losing money due to mismanagement (corrupt practices?) and in high debt! Better heed PM Mahathir’s advice to work hard and earn proper income. Otherwise have less children to lessen burden please. We do not want to see Yellow Vest protest in France to happen here since cost of living will go up inevitably due to our weak Ringgit.

The Tabung Haji Act 1995 prohibits the payment of dividends, or hibah as they are called in Islamic financial terms, when in deficit or when there are no distributable profits.

Ye right, bru.
Have less children to lessen costs of family living. Gomen should cut costs of subsidising large families who procreate … without proper family planning. Learn some sex education is one way to go…

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said that non-Malays should be grateful that they were welcomed by Muslims to Malaya despite coming as coolies.

“The migrants were brought here by the colonialists, and it is the compassion of Muslims that accepted anyone.

The anyi-ICERD rally is a wake-up call for PH to get out to the Malay heartland with people and policies that will have a transformative impact.

The PH government is too consumed by the blame game which they believe can carry them through to a second term in Putrajaya.

Majority of muslims here do not subscribe to human rights for fear of liberal thinking threatening their conservative belief.

We may be heading to a new world order, one that will put to sleep all forms of discriminations, slavery, corruptions, entitlements, monarchies, religious bigotry, trade wars, terrorism, social class disparity & nationalism. Countries may one day exist only as names but without borders as the socio-political-economic system will function under one global platform. Cross-cultural initiatives will be encouraged as religions play a passive role more of a wallpaper than a patriarch of cultures. And societies will function as cashless in the name of efficiency & security. Digital implant & RFID tech in our foreheads? Or call it the mark… Read more »

“Don’t do unto others what you don’t want done unto you.” ― Confucius I believe Confucius already understood & shared one of the universal values of human rights before the first Chinese armada arrived at Melaka. Did we see any show of Chinese martial art might at the Port of Melaka? Nope. In face Ming China sent Hang Li Po (漢麗寶) as a ‘bride’ to the Malaccan Sultan Mansur Shah. In contrast, the European colonists went on a rampage + mass conversion of the indigenous people to Christianity in the New World of the Americas & often accompanied by show… Read more »

That is why there is so little Muslim in South America. Even the descendants of Incas became Christians, because Arabs never go there. This is historical facts.

Actually Arabs migrated to South America, and then they converted to Roman Catholicism. For example Carlos Menem’s family in Argentina. Originally Muslims from Lebanon.

SHAH ALAM (Bernama): The Malays and bumiputras must work harder to compete with other races in the country, says PM Tun Dr Mahathir. He said the fact was that many Malays and bumiputras had difficult lives and lived in rural areas, even though they had political power. “In our own country, we (Malays and bumiputras) have retreated far from conurbations, and many of us are from poor families. “Yes, today we are powerful politically and with this power, we can extend a little assistance to the Malays and bumiputras, think about it… but if we do not have political power… Read more »
