Should we be concerned about the safety of the second Penang Bridge after a bridge in China collapsed?
The collapse of the ramp at the Yangmingtan Bridge was the sixth major bridge collapse in China since July 2011.
In 1994, similar fears arose when the Seongsu Bridge in South Korea collapsed, killing 32 and injuring 17.

Andrew I there is no going back. The fact that Anil Netto attempts feeble excuses on your behalf mitigates nothing …. as a hacker which is what you are. People like you are a pus on the butt of humanity. We reserve the right to be different and to proffer our own opinions on any web blog that invites comment either directly or by implication of its conduct. You can apologise or insult any amount you wish but the stain of your belligerence on the rest of us will be your undoing. … Your threats will be met with the… Read more »
It is MY blog and comments here are not a ‘right’. Yes, people are invited to comment but subject to the comment guidelines, which state no personal attacks, threats or provocation, no deviating from the topic, etc.
I am not aware that my blog has been “hacked” and I fail to see which comment has been “defaced”. Comments, however, are subject to moderation based on the comment guidelines. They may be deleted if they flout the guidelines.
If anyone should be upset that my blog has been hacked, it should be me.
You are entitled to your views in this respect. They are your views. I won’t indulge you with the law either in this regard. There is no privilege in your hands associated with the responsibilities you shoulder with allowing your blog as a platform to promote race hatred, racial vilification and attacks on the beliefs and practices of others. Well said kumar !!!
What the ‘cha bor’ fuss about “hacking”!
to hack means: to use a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system.
Did it happened here?
Anil already clarified ‘no hacking’ otherwise he is lying!
Go drink some Kopi-O kau kau to get your head straight & clear & less sensitive! Comrade!
FYI, the word ‘comrade’ is widely used in countries that treat each other as equal, not hacker. Is this also ‘cha bor’ sensitive word? Go fly kite!
it is always a compliment to have ones comments hidden out of fear of exposure of a truth which may be inconvenient. Its an act of unmitigated cowardice to hide a comment and to comment on it adversely or to answer the criticisms raised theirein without the benefit of the comment itself to view. Thats the second leg of the backhanded compliment. Commentary on the actions or omissions of others is part of the charatcer of a democratic society. Sadly those who comment adversely on government and allow others to comment adversely on government then act undemocractically see themselves as… Read more »
Why are BN parasites so defensive? Bridge isn’t even up yet!
For one, drop actual contractors names and experience. And who are the appointef managing consultants, architects or engineers?
What can you do about it ? You needed someone with the loan to build the bridge and there is no one else to do so. Therefore beggars are no choosers.
I sense a lot of anger from this guy.
There is NO racism and there is absolutely NO harm is engaging the public about raising safety concerns regardinf the 2nd Penang Bridge.
It’s not uncommon these days for construction companies to cut corners. As a Penangite, I want something done right and not half assed. If a bridge or a building collapses then we must do everything we can to make sure the local authorities care.
grkumarGopal Raj Kumar,
You shouldn’t attack people like that. If you have beef with Aliran, post it on the Aliran website..NOT THIS BLOG
In China, they have a saying: “You get what (quality) you paid for.
So how much did we ‘negotiate’ to pay in real Ringgit value (to Chinese builder) to quality for this 2nd Penang Bridge & did make sure we won’t get ‘tofu’ bridge?
Btw, we can’t send a defect bridge back to China with added ‘pek kim’ note, can we?
It is the type of racism that infects the mindset of the opposition parading as human rights groups and concerned citizens that operate along these lines. No one has thus idenfied a particular company from China linked to the Malaysian bridge to be built or built by Chinese as being the source of concerns in this regard. Instead we have a blanket China and Korea smear and defamation campaign based on the race of the project builder rather than any specific complaint identifiable and linked to a company whether Chinese or Korean that needs to be examined for safety concerns.… Read more »
This is my personal blog and I do not presume to speak on behalf of Aliran here.
The concerns about the bridge collapse in China were raised in the international media. The New York Times said such concerns were also articulated within China. Read the NYT report.
The pot calling the kettle black. Oh dear, is that racist?
Anil you should declare your relationship with aliran (still is aliran treasurer ???) and any other groups in About Me (http://anilnetto.com/about-2/) Also, do you receive donation from pakatan ???
I agree with Kumar, please do away with racism, anil !!!
Yes, still Aliran treasurer. but this my personal blog.
And no, I don’t get any money from Pakatan.
Unlike some who will do anything at the expense of being a wannabe to go for crumbs at all cost. How pathetic.
Gerakan K,
What about you, how much/are you paid to write few lines to irritate on this blog?
Wahh, I note the sudden influx of cyber-troopers here, get paid for easy job, just press the “down-button”! Typical BN characteristics for 55 years – goyang kaki, dapat gaji!
Why LGE wants to attack BN at every opportunities even during unfortunate event like bridge collapsing !!!??? We really need to vote this mindless CHEAP MINISTER out of office. Do you agree ???
p/s: But wait, by voting that CHEAP MINISTER out. it doesn’t mean KTK will comeback as CM. We have lots of HIGH quality leaders in BN.
Like?
Andrew,
Say it loud and clear, Like UMNO sleeping sycophants.
Don’t be afraid of his thumb down. After all record has already shown the truth.
Let him like a baby keep switching on and off his computer continuously to his heart content and see how long he can go …. After all we know he is a moron …
Dun worry. My supporters are HERE and Gherkin will again be put in the box.
Janji ditepati. As of 2.10 GMT, MI7 has stopped a naughty troll from creating havoc in anilnetto.com HM Andrew I thanks his agents for a job well done.
Thanks for the admission of interference through hacking other people’s contributions in this blog. It takes two to tango and only one to bring down a website (a blog ) that admits to engaging in whats known as hacking. Over to you Anil Netto
No, I am not aware of any attempts to hack this blog. People trying to put multiple thumbs up or down is not the same as hacking.
Hello anil, can you tell me if Andrew I is your another nickname in anilnetto.com ???
No, Andrew I is not my nickname.
@grkumar, you’re right, two can play at this game. Now that Anil has to moderate the thumbs up as well, it goes to show what a bunch of losers you poor excuses of humanity are. If you think that your verbosity will win you any fans, you are sorely mistaken. If it’s any consolation, you fare better than that idiot who is permanently stationed here. On the other hand, without him, anilnetto.com would be quite boring…like the Star, where your pearls of wisdom about democracy are more relevant. Andrew I will now retire but will be watching from afar. Once… Read more »
Malu beb !!! Not only China bridge collapsed but Andrew I also KENA early retirement !!! No choice after his own admission of thumbs manipulation and trolling in this blog.
Bye bye HM Andrew I. But just don’t return with another user name. Be a good boy after this ~
What is AMMO and their sycophant like Gilakan, MCA and MIC doing. Still sleeping. Well well LGE is well and awake to remind BN and the contractor to take proactive action not to let this happen here.
This is what we one for a CM not a sleeping one and definitely not the sleeping Teng Chang Yeow and his whole lot who boasted after being appointed and BN chief, we will do the check and balance. My foot when it come to him, Geelakan, AMMO and Ah Cheap
We dont need sleeping and dumb minister
“We have lots of HIGH quality leaders in BN.”
Hehehehe…you GK you!
Sally,
I like your sarcasm, pressed the “like” button! 😀
GK he wants to be part of the cabinet but no he will not get it. Maybe some crumbs and he will be satisfied.
Deep concern it is, very much so especially when this corrupt BN regime is handling the 2nd Penang project! Things seems to be progressing in secrecy, no much is heard of its progress.
What secrecy are you talking about ??? Every local Penangite knows about that. We can see the project everyday. For non-Penangite, see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penang_Second_Bridge
p/s: Are you a Penangite commenting on Penang issues ???
Its either a moron or another corrupt person who will not see the secrecy of corrupt deals just like the Scorpene 1 billion scandal or the Port Klang 12 billions fiasco.
This is not just a Penang issue. It is a Federal issue as all the deals are done by the Federal govt
Gerakan K,
If you must know, I’m a true-blue Penangite, born, bred and educated in Penang, proud to be 4th generation Malaysian, and YOU?
