Maduro squeezes through in Venezuela poll

The late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez’s annointed successor Nicolas Maduro has squeezed through in the country’s elections with 51 per cent of the popular vote, according to reports.

This allows him to continue along the track of Chavez’s economic policies and people empowerment programmes, which have been a crucial counterweight against pro-Big Business/MNC neoliberal economic policies across Latin America.
