Umno supporters unfurl a banner supporting the Malays-only status quo of the UiTM college on Nomination Day (Photo credit: Abang Benet)
At around 9.45 last night, Anwar bravely addressed a crowd of close to a thousand people on a service road outside the UiTM Permatang Pauh campus. Nearby apartment dwellers and students from the hostel, mainly Malay, poured out to listen to him. Some of these students must have been among the reported crowd of 5,000 who had demonstrated here against Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim’s suggestion that the university open its doors to non-bumiputeras (see below).
Anwar stressed to the crowd the importance of multiracialism. He would be a prime minister that would be fair to all Malaysians and it would be his responsibility to make sure he took care of all ethnic groups.
“Orang Melayu anak saya… (pause) … orang Cina anak saya … (pause) …. orang India … anak saya,” he said in poetic and dramatic fashion.
Applause broke out from the largely Malay crowd which included the Malay UiTM students.
“All it takes is for the right leader to tell them the right thing and they will support it,” marvelled a newspaper editor who witnessed the scene.

UiTM Students Hand Over Memoranda
BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 15 (Bernama) — About 5,000 students from the Permatang Pauh campus of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) held a peaceful protest against the suggestion by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim that the university open its doors to non-bumiputeras.
The students wore black and gathered at the campus’s field from 9am for an hour and sang the varsity’s official anthem and patriotic songs.
They dispersed after the head of the students’ representative council, Mohd Faizal Zainol, handed over a memorandum to the deputy director of the academic division, Dr Mohd Abdullah Hemdi.
Mohd Abdullah told reporters the memorandum will be handed over to the university’s vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Ibrahim Abu Shah to be handed over to Abdul Khalid.
“If Abdul Khalid does not retract his statement all UiTM students will have a huge gathering in Shah Alam. We hope the issue of a non-bumiputera quota is not discussed again. We regret that Abdul Khalid has not upheld his race’s rights,” Mohd Faizol said

Anwar is the one who built the UiTM Permatang Pauh University and the polytechnic when he was in AMNO. They know that. Protesting against him is unthinkable, after all, he was the one who built and brought the college to that non-exsistent site when he was in power. The fact is Malay Youth are not interested in AMNO and its divide and rule politics meant to blind the Malays for the putras to steal. Please let’s not the blame the students because they simply wanted an easy day rather than being racists. In fact, I myself would have joined them if that would get me a free day as they were given, but in true sense, Malay youth are not for AMNO and its apparatchiks. You can bet to the last penny!

You mean the bozos that study at UiTM are like sheep that will follow whoever that comes along. Given that the BN policy of sending the smart malays to foreign universities and keeping the …. at local MARA colleges, it is no wonder at all.
You know who you are, if you attend MARA in Malaysia, ask youselve what kind of future you really have. How many more taxi drivers and unemployed day laborers can Malaysia have?

For the first time since Tunku Abdul Rahman proudly proclaimed Merdeka in August 1957, people are experiencing a powerful surge of genuine patriotism, founded on profound love for their homeland and not just as a state-funded flag-waving public relations exercise. Anwar’s dramatic political career with all its ups and downs and its moving, human dimensions has touched the core of our collective hearts with new optimism and belief in a glorious future under a clean and just government. This intense feeling of joy, hope, and spontaneous cooperation amongst the various races is very real- and when Anwar expresses a fatherly love for the Malays, Chinese, and Indians, what he has accomplished is to restore an essential, hitherto missing, ingredient to our political life – and that is the POWER OF SOUL! What a blessed time this is for all loyal Malaysians who truly love their country and refuse to migrate just because the government has been infiltrated by liars, crooks, and hypocrites for so many decades.

UiTM students demonstrate
From a mere suggestion by MB of Selangor
Every student and academician protest
UiTM should be a malay university
It is good the malays wanted it
It is to show how ……. the race become
Afraid to compete; living like Mat Jenin
Dreaming of grandeur in the sky
This is a public university
Funded by the taxpayers’ money
Majority from the non-malay
So what is the fuss?
Basically afraid to lose
No keen desire to compete
Amongst the elite universities
In the end no applause
Only a sad journey for its graduates
Open eyes to see
All the top universities have multi-racial students
From there the value of these universities
Parents, guardians and students fight for it
What have you UiTM?
Universities must be opened to all
Base on merits and entrance examinations
In this way the core value will be retained
And the name of any university will shoot the popularity chart
If this the way UiTM wants
Let it be; let it be the unknown amongst the best
Where the graduates will find it hard in the job markets
Adding to the string of many unemployed graduates

I agree with Abdul.
We were all students before.
If we could twang lectures, we would.
Hey, students also need diversions to de-stress.

Anwar has been and continue to be consistent with his multiracial approach. He promotes such an approach openly in front all races.
In fact he is projecting himself as a future PM for all Malaysians. He is the only Malay leader who dares to say what all others have feared – all races must be treated equally.
we have no choice but Anwar. He may not succeed in becoming the PM but he has already created history.

This type of racially-based intake will only produce half-baked graduates who possess a false sense of achievement, which would render them unemployable in the job market. Perhaps the government would have to have more Operasi Isi Penuh like in the past to help them when they graduate, at tax payers’ expenses of course.
It is fooliness to the core to perpetuate this type of educational policy and wasting country’s valuable resources all the way.

malays, chinese, indians, sabahans, sarawakians …. we are all brothers and sisters. why must we be emotional just because because we are racially and religiously different? let’s start living together… loving each other rather than hating each other. show to the world that we are malaysians. DSAI is on the right track.

Bodoh boleh di terima sebab manusia ada yang cerdek, ada yang kurang siuman, ada yang gila tetapi kita tidak boleh terima pemimpin yang korup dan kurang cekap.
We need DSAI to lead and we want BN to sit back and learn how to manage a country and its resources.Admit your incompetency and repent,we will forgive you.Don’t be a nuisance !

when DSAI talks facts and sense to convince the people, those opposing him are using saiful’s ‘posterior’ to campoaign and to stay in power. shameful! what a shame to the country when the world is watching all this. this approach has truly backfired. no one is interested in all this cheap tactic employed by those who are bankrupt of ideas.

Of course I would not blame the UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. At least, now, I know the human quality of these so called university students (the future leaders in government & corporate world?? with held mentality, wanna have an easy day??) and I believe many employers would really think twice before they employ them!

i’ve always insisted that the rot in this country is due to bad role-modelling from bn that is led by the racist umno being supported by the ****-less component parties … mca and mic especially.
led by the right leader, yes, the nation can achieve malaysian unity. while we fly the jalur gemilang, do we know that the dark blue canton represents malaysian unity?
anwar is the man. to dismantle racist institutions, the start point is to say NO to umno … and many gerakan ppl now manage to show their b*** today …. or should i say …. at least many gerakan ppl still have b****. the rest? eunuch!

I think you miss the point, this whole UiTM thing was engineered, exploited by UMNO when Khalid made an off the cuff remark because about half of Permatang Pauh constituent is less than 40 year old AND Anwar gets most of his Malay supporters from the young.
I bet you that if you ask the UiTM students they will tell you that the protests had a UMNO people pushing it.
Anwar had to face the crowd no matter how hostile it could get. The thing is he did it successfully, his support of the young is intact and this is going to worries the BNers…

Anwar is our only hope to drum sense into these “young sheep” or is it “lambs”(?). It is for this very reason that Anwar is our only hope to change the mindset of the Malays, and to implement social changes fait to all races, free the Malays from the shackles of UMNO racist regime which only stifles the Malays’ progress.

caravanserai,
UITM is just not only malay.there are some if not many students from abroad as well.what?you said that majority of tax-payers is non-malays?malays also pay tax.mind you.
who says UITM graduates have no quality?.some of my friends who graduated from UITM have a steady job with a steady salary.they studied not using tax moneys but either by their own money or loan provided to them.
every universities in the world have their own policy.the same goes to UITM.why the need to question the integrity and policy of UITM?

Malaysian’s Sensitivities. A Foreigner’s Guide?
Sensitiviti rakyat Malaysia? Panduan untuk Pelawat Asing?
Malaysians are sensitive like the plant called Mimosa. They curled and closed up so fast the moment something touches them.
Malaysians are also sensitive like a woman scorned. Say anything right or wrong and wait for her to unleash the storm.
So, if you are a foreign visitor to Malaysia, please be aware of the following, else you may be charged under the Internal Security Act or Sedition Act or maybe get whacked or maybe get a cold reception.
1. Do not talk anything about Pigs or Dogs or Cows or Snakes.
2. Do not talk anything about Mongolia, Israel or Singapore.
3. Do not talk anything about C4.
4. Do not talk anything about Sodomy.
5. Do not talk anything about Religion.
6. Do not talk anything about God.
7. Do not talk anything about Bumiputera or Race.
8. Do not talk anything about ISA or Sedition Act.
9. Do not talk anything about sleeping.
10. Do not talk anything about oil.
11. Do not talk anything about any sound or prayers you hear.
12. Do not talk anything about the Bar Council.
13. Do not talk anything about the latest world fashions.
14. Do not talk anything about the latest world singers.
15. Do not talk anything about the latest novels.
16. Do not talk anything about the latest music.
17. Do not talk anything about the best universities.
18. Do not talk anything about local universities.
19. Do not talk anything about keris or songkok.
20. Do not talk anything about Mat Rempits, Ah Longs or Transvestites.
21. Do not talk anything about tolls, electricity or water.
22. Do not talk anything about prices of cars, education, sin or not sin taxes.
In short, when visiting Malaysia, pretend to be Malaysians, be dumb and deaf and don’t even think because a lot of people can read your mind and know ahead what you are thinking or planning to do.
If you are the type who just need to talk, just talk about the weather only in Malaysia and anything else critical of any other country except Malaysia. Don’t even wish anybody, else you may be seen offending someone’s religion.
Just enjoy the scenery and pay as you go along. Better still, get an Electronic Payment Toll Card and you don’t even have to talk to anyone.

Karma, maybe Saiful has a great posterior.
As Al Pacino says in the film “Heat”, “you’ve got your head all the way up it.”

It is so sad to see this happen. All of you guys forget the fact that who is the one who mention this thing up, and who is the one who simply wrap it up like nothing happened before. Khalid is ANWAR’s g***. Why did Khalid suddenly mention this thing up? He knows that this thing might create racial sentiments. … Don’t you see that? They are taking every opportunity to create issues for the government to bear the costs.

Semua ini sama aje macam football kat Malaysia.
Apabila pemain Malaysia tak sebakat pemain import, mereka menghadkan jumlah pemain import. Cuba fikirkan, mengapa kita orang tak sehebat pemain import. Cuba belajar dari dia orang. Tapi, yang sebaliknya berlaku. Kita hadkan pemain import dan kita bersembuyi di belakang kampung kita sambil fikir ‘we are the best’ dalam dunia ini.

saiful’s celebrated posterior is not going to bring any economic gains to the country. i suggest UMNO go ahead and have his posterior insured at RM1billion. shameful nuts!!! when the economy is going to the drains, there are people out there talking about one’s posterior to gain votes! malaysians are not stupid to buy all this. DSAI, you are on the right track. you talk sense. you talk about the dire state of our economy. you talk about uplifting our standard of living. this is the kind of leader all malaysians want. let UMNO talk about the celebrated posterior of saiful and let the world judge what kind of politicians UMNO is made up of. their days are numbered, though. shameful….shameful….shameful.
