With the UMNO/BN (emptying) the nation’s coffers, the country will be left with nothing.
So the day we see Msians locked up in cages like that is not very far away.
This has been going on forever. The Minister must have passed the interview to his deputy to avoid it altogether. Everyone wants to just close their eyes. The refugees have their UNHCR cards confiscated. The RELA people put them all in a plastic bag.
At that point they are considered as illegals. So yes their official record will show only illegals are caught. The cards are probably destroyed?
These people are utterly shameless to lie and not have any sense of compassion to these people. Well I supposed your family and your tummy is well fed who gives a damn right.
Listen to the kind of terminology used by the immigration officers when talking about the detainees. The way they describe the frustration of the detainees, as if they were animals in a zoo. Even animals are known to go mad when they are caged up in a small space. When they let the two Sri Lankan detainees out of the caged area to speak to the journalist, it seems so devoid of humanity, like letting cattle out to graze. Is this how we treat human beings? The food trays are more than disgusting and the food is certainly unpalatable. Is it surprising that detainees have died of diseases like leptospirosis? Al Jazeera should follow up this issue with reports on the women’s and children’s sections of these immigration detention camps that are more like World War 2 concentration camps which were strongly condemned by the war crimes tribunals and, at that time, newly formed United Nations. Yes, a war against the innocent is raging in our midst and many are still unaware of it.
The Australian minister is too ready to disclaim any part in the ill-treatment of asylum seekers and refugees or any alleged ‘undocumented’ migrant they call ‘illegals’. Despite their “better” conditions and treatment of ‘undocumented’ migrants, the Australian government also seems to believe that illegal migration will be discouraged by use of less than human treatment of ‘boat people’. Governments don’t seem to see that their own negative actions and attitudes create a vicious cycle and worsen a deteriorating situation.
Governments also seem to disbelieve the real human suffering in these inhuman detention conditions. The Malaysian MHA is a good example of willful ignorance, to excuse the unacceptable and xenophobic attitude towards migrants, they often point fingers at other nations but litter their own backyard with filth. The Deputy Minister’s claim of ignorance of UNHCR registered asylum seekers and refugees imprisoned in these camps, when this category of migrants should not be arrested or detained is utterly and totally irresponsible.
So, what governments have in common appears to be the belief that inhuman treatment and criminalization of the undocumented migrant, asylum seeker or refugee will solve the problem of ‘illegal migration’ regardless of the causes for migration in their home country. Must citizens accept this without question? Must citizens condone such violation of human rights, inhuman and degrading treatment and torture of fellow human beings, thinking that ‘this will never be our fate one day?’ I wonder, if we can be so sure.
So much in words in despair, very little in action in hope. Viva Malaysians, as we continue to be the Nostradamus in our own rights without any action on our own part.
Such plesantry for our own needs as oppose to the society have paved the path in Malaysia and until and when we individually without fear or favor participate in action nothing is going to change.
Unless and until we are ready to chart our course for a collective action on a humanity need irrespective of race, religion, or creed, it will be same … just another day in good old Malaysia.

Its so obvious the deputy minister is lying through his teeth, just look at his facial expression. How convenient, immediately transfer the blame to his subordinates.
