Hmm… what is going on here?

The PI, Balasubramaniam, wants to retract his statutory declaration yesterday and has come up with a new one. The address of the commissioner of oaths who witnessed the new declaration is reportedly the same as that of a legal firm owned by the brother of the Federal Territory Minister.

He said it was made under “duress” and now he has got a new lawyer. He wants to retract the bit about Najib allegedly introducing Baginda to Altantuya. And the bit about Najib allegedly having a sexual relationship with her. And the bit about… oh, whatever!

Another day, another drama. Sounds mighty fishy to me. Especially after it was reported that he was asked to report at the police station after the press conference yesterday and has been out of contact since…

  1. Just read it in malaysiakini. Don’t scratch your head to understand. (Perhaps) he got some unfriendly visitors late in the night with a warning to retract the SD or face the music(?)
But then who cares. The damage is done. And now people have more reason to believe in his SD.
this retraction does not make an iota of difference to Najib’s credibility and image. He is a goner.

  6. Who forced him. Will the police get to it now and get to the bottom of the ‘duress’ part?

Forcing anyone agaisnt his will is a crime. Bring to book those that put the nation through the unneccessary anguish.

  7. yeah the unfriendly visitors could be ONE of the many reasons, another could be that he got cold feet? (perhaps) he realized that he’s just a pawn in Anwar’s machinations and know that should things go terribly wrong, it’s HIS head that’ll go, not Anwar’s? Didn’t he just say that he’s got young children to think about?

  8. When I read the SD I was telling myself “Don’t this guy change his mind again and retract his declaration. And it has happened. As Concerned Citizen says “Who do we trust now?” DSAI better come out soonest with his other evidence that he says he has and effect the take over before more damage is done to the country. Tired of all that is going on.

  10. Aiya, you must know who are the poeple implicated. They are no small people.
I believe after going home to think aboout it, he (may have) realised that his life and family are in grave danger. Not worthit la. Even Anwar also has to run away for fear of his life.
Just ask him how much he had gone thru’ And this Subramamaniam being a police before and also experience first hand after being detained after Altantunya’ murder. He knows the (ordeal) he had.
It takes a very brave man to go against our ‘taiko’ here. You think we are in USA orAustralia where you can get real protection from the police?

  11. Asked why he signed the police statement if it did not contain details that implicate Najib, he said he did so under duress.

“If you have experience in the cell, you will definitely sign the statement. I wanted to go out, I have three children.

“For no reason they put me in the lock up Why was I arrested when they can just call me in to take a statement from me,” he said.

His lawyer, Americk Singh Sidhu, told reporters that the reason why Balasubramaniam made the statutory declaration two days ago was because the prosecution has wrapped up their case against Abdul Razak without raising his revelations.

Balasubramaniam who was the first prosecution witness in the trial, was not asked about Altantuya’s connection with Najib when the hearings began in June last year.

“He was waiting for prosecution to ask but they never did so that’s the reason why he’s surprised and that’s why he came up with the statutory declaration.

“This press conference is to bring into light the available evidence and to tell the police and prosecution that Balasubramaniam is at their disposal at anytime,” Americk said.

  12. Dear All

If you remember the saga from about 10 years back, there were a few cases of “turning over”.

One solution to all these “He said, she said” stuff is to have all parties concerned take lie detector tests. If all take the test but Person X refuses to take the test, then Person X’s credibility is suspect.

  13. I think the damage has been done and there is no returning point. It only makes it more sweeter bcoz the plot thickens and Najib, IGP and AG are involved (in the allegations). His words yesterday are all recorded for all to see and read.

  15. this has gone too far. as a citizen, i can no longer take this kind of f**king nonsense. Is there any law that can be used to charge people like Bala? We must not allow this unhealthy trend to develop.

SD must not be treated as a movie script whereby you can change it as you like. People must be taught to treat a SD with respect or eles, very soon, people will regard a SD as another toilet paper brand.

  20. There is no more human rights or freedom to expose in Malaysia. Those in power can threaten or harm the person if he/she doesn’t retract the statement. (It is possible) that they take laws on their own hands to supress a person. We RAKYAT will only believe in the first SD, GOD will be the fair JUDGE and send those responsible to H**L FOREVER. THRUTH WILL PREVAIL ANYWAY AND THEY REAP WHAT THEY SOWS!!!

  22. Anil, The Malaysian Insider has it. The man was threatened. And to make it worse. He has only removed the Najib part. Hoy…this makes it juicier.

“He told friends yesterday that he had come under severe pressure after releasing the statutory declaration.”

  23. His retraction does not matter now. Damage done. In fact I would say his retraction only confirms that there are evil forces working behind – that’s why they can’t think of anything else other than sodomy. Can’t blame the Bala guy, when a whole platoon …

Our National cry of “malaysia boleh” has just become “C4 Boleh”.
