Still too complicated to predict with precision. Many things are going on but little reported. For example, Puteri’s low-profile “anak angkat project” is penetrating the kampongs effectively, according the Chinese online Merdeka Review.

Anwar Ibrahim is our best bet to have a two party system where check and balance exists to ensure the misdeeds of incumbent government are not repeated even if PR took over the federal government.
My thoughts somehow swirls pervasively towards the results of Permatang Pauh election tomorrow and the repercurssions it entails should Anwar loses the election!I am always mindful whether the Election Commission is going to be fair in its conduct in running the by-election .I am very positive that Anwar may still win albeit with a reduced majority from what Dr Wan Azizah obtained in the last 12th GE.
To me this is a pivotal time for Malaysia. Are we prepared to the changes Anwar is embarking upon on for Malaysia. To me ,we have experienced the way BN has managed this country for the last 50 years and it sucks in terms of developing the sense of patriotism to all Malaysian and i am willing to take my chance with Anwar or Pakatan.
Some people can be gullible as anything and will believe whatever they hear through coffeeshop talk, or the TV, newspaper, etc. Or even the web. While everyone else will actually think and weigh the information that is before them. That means past information and current information. With that, they can come to their own conclusions. But they will not be confused as before in 2004. The false promises of PM Abdullah Badawi is never forgotten. Just look around you and the proof is there to remind you never to vote for BN. Chinese and Indians know who to vote for. It’s the Malay kampung folk that is doubtful. But still, the majority will vote for Anwar.

I hope for the best. But I work and prepare myself for the worst.
In the event DSAI wins and wins big, I would advise him and his followers, the BeeEnd LIE and CORRUPT machine will get EVEN more desperate. No telling what they will do, maybe even mass ISA arrests, force the DNA bill through, force DSAI to ‘donate’ blood…..
Sham trial starts.
Who knows?
If DSAI wins big, everybody should keep calm in Penang, much like the day after March 8th, keep calm.
Change will not come easy to those entrenched in the pits of corruption and lies. …
i hope the pematang pauh voters will help us to send a strong reminder to BN, that we suffered enough and we want a change!!! Very obvious the BN had forgot the 8 March, all they had been doing now is sabotaging and politicking, and the rakyat was left to suffer. the highest inflation we suffer now at 8.5% and rising explains enough of the current economy situation. On another hand, where is the Royal Commission report on the VK Lingam tape, have you read it Pak Lah. What about the Nurin case. What about Altantuya?
We need Anwar in the parliament for a better future!!!!
Go here to under stand the truth

UMNO HOLDS no more moral high ground as the guardians of “bangsa dan agama” after the revelations by the FT ustaz that …. WAS INVOLVED WITH THE SWEARING on the Koran by SAIFUL.
This is a very brave soul the ustaz, who takes his job and religion very very seriously, THIS MAN FEARS FOR HIS SOUL, HE FEELS THAT THE RELIGEON OF ISLAM HAS BEEN MANIPULATED indiscriminately, BY ….. This just goes to show who is actually insulting Islam, nobody else has tarnished Islam more than ….
…
HOW YOU CAN DO THIS TO A FELLOW MUSLIM FOR THAT MATTER, DON’T YOU HAVE A CONSCIENCE, or have you all been blinded by the false gold of wealth and power, where will that bring you when you face your maker.
I hope for everyone sake our MALAY BROTHER AND SISTER FROM PERMATANG PAUH VOTE FOR DSAI, THE FUTURE OF ALL MALAYSIANS IS AT STAKE HERE AND UMNO WILL STOP AT NOTHING.
Permatang Pauh is Anwar’s territory. The voters there know him inside out. BN is fighting a losing battle.
BN underestimate PP’s Malay voters. They think PP’s malay voters are like Melaka or Johor malay voters whose political acumen even shamed the …..
The BN candidate will lose it’s deposit unless the ‘play’ dirtier than what they had already played the last few days.
As for the third ‘man’, wonder who paid for his deposit.
Anwar need to bring everything together to one fevered but composed pitch tonight. That the margin of victory is very important Under 20,000 margin and the message would be somewhat muted. 25,000 vote and they have a chance at Putrajaya and bury Najib with it…
Latest news..Beware of Balot boxes with same serail no all marked with X on BI enn symbol (allegedly) ready for exchange when deliver to the counting center. True or not it is better to take whatever precaution needed. According to the report from Ah pek Bm and the newspapers report are totally different, I believe strongly that they might come up with these dirty trick. Some news confirmed that they did it in the last election but their preparation of quantity votes still did not matched the real votes for PR. REMEMBER in 2004 election many will shock of the reversed resulted even LKS lost badly. … think , think.. think…
Najib talks on race
Telling people Anwar pawning malay dignity
Is this type of campaign we don’t need it?
He is playing on racial card again
UMNO the rules and divides king
When the power is going to be scrapped
It flags its wings to flee
Yet as a small king it can’t fly
It is so grounded buried deep in its hole
Crying desperately for help now
As the mood has changed
UMNO can fool people most of the time
Now UMNO can’t do it any more
For the people and malays know the truth
Umno is going down………….
Yet Najib sings about his race
Sad but it is true
Malaysia isn’t made up of one face
She has many children of many races
Nobody should project her as one race
UMNO will disintegrate
In this buy election in PP
When the next government is formed
There will be no gravy train for UMNO
There the members will jump ship
Never mind those who quite PKR joining UMNO
They are there to get …
The new beginning will be born
In Permatang Pauh where it will begin
Nothing will stop it now
Go Anwar Ibrahim “kill” the beast
This is where history will be made
“I am holier than thou” by-election. BN administration has nothing to offer…no new polices. No new investments on Education, Health and Trade which will cater for the future generations. Only issues that are most repulsive to decent human beings, acts of desperate politicians wanting to cling on to power at any cost. Whereas, the opposition have demonstrated their will to change course for a better Malaysia. Anwar’s future visions sit well with the rakyat. My bet is with the opposition…BN has overstayed her welcome, if a thing is broken, replace it.
I hope the P44 folks will come out in full force to vote for Anwar, and send a special Merdeka message to Badawi & his cabinet that we MALAYSIANS have had enough of the whole charade played before our eyes in the last few years: Lingamgate, C4 murder, mega MINDEF purchases (Sukhoi jets/submarines), PDRM becoming PRDM … and Sodomy II, among other things.
Let’s pray for everyone’s safety, as we know …. Mat Rempits (may) be on the prowl to harass people as usual. And stay calm to wait for the results. Be humble even if we win Big, as I expect BN will still employ high-handed tactics even when they lose.
I don’t see much to celebrate this Merdeka, but hopefully better things will be in store for us next year as we celebrate the 52nd Merdaka!
Peace to all Malaysians.
i, too, am prepared for vote rigging! DSAI, please send your feelers out there and “spies” to combat any sabotage! I have never doubted that BN will be their usual dirty selves! God willing, any evil intent by the evil doers will backfire! revoked! reverse back to sender! Although we all know that the BN will invoke mambo jambo (aka rosy all the way from the USA), God is greater than any mambo jambo…
Dear All
1. The argument that “If Anwar does not win by a
larger majority, he has actually lost” is just political propaganda and an attempt by the soon-to-be loser to “reframe the debate” so as to claim victory even in defeat. PR should just ignore this
while not becoming complacent and continuing to work hard to get people out to vote.
2. The PR should think many more steps ahead of the other side and take the necessary actions e.g. why is the regime trying to rush through the DNA Bill? What will they try to do after Anwar wins the
PP seat? What other dirty tricks do they have up their sleeves? etc.
We, the majority of Malaysians who are people of goodwill, will reclaim our beloved country from those who corrupt and destroy our political institutions; steal our wealth and mismanage our economy while neglecting the fate of our less-privileged fellow citizens; promote racism and religious intolerance; make a mockery of the principle of rule of law; and make Malaysia a laughing stock in the world. We will reclaim our beloved nation by voting them OUT! Power to the People!
To Permatang Pauh voters,
1.Do not easily surrender your I/C to (anyone).
Reason:
There will be more than 6000(more?) policemen deployed in PP…. Get what I mean?
I don’t think is that easy for BN’s tactic to get across the ’sturborn’ Permatang Paul voters. I thinks the tactic make it worse then helping. I am not so sure this my hope or my analysis! anyhow .. I vote PKR tomorrow!
Permatang Pauh is the nexus of unfolding political events. The whole battle between BN and PR has been distilled into this focal point.
For this is no ordinary by-election. The results will determine the future direction of the country.
If Anwar wins with a huge majority, it means that Umno has lost political support among the Malays who rejects their racial politics. MPs may take it as a sign to jump ship. It will act as a catalyst for change that will spread throughout the country and eventually topple BN Federal rule.
If Anwar fails to pull a convincing majority or the unthinkable happens and he loses, the push for change will be stymied and contained. BN will continue and consolidate its corrupt rule.
BN knows what is at stake. It has used every trick in the book and some new ones to reduce Anwar’s majority.
The epic battle is coming to an end. When tomorrow comes, we will know what is the result.
When tomorrow comes, we will witness history in the making.
Let’s all wait for the result…when tomorrow comes.
IF tomorrow comes…….
Hello, anyone has tonight ceramah schedule and locations.
PKR has not issue any schedule for tonight which is very important. I tried calling their handphones but all received the same message “try again later”.
I can never imagine DSAI can be defeated. If it happens, it is definitely the work of some crooks in power. Anyway -IN GOD WE TRUST, and Permatang Pauh should be proud to create the history for future generation to look back of how a warrior strive to fight for the nation. It is all about national interest and my prayers is with all people of Permatang Pauh and your decision is the most strategic one as it will dictate the future of Malaysia. Time for CHANGE.
I am somewhat nervous of what might be the end game tomorrow.I happen to share kenny Gan’s observations. It is riveting to comprehend the repercussions of Anwar not securing a bigger majority than Dr Wan Azizah.Any deficit in terms of majority will be capitalised by UMNO spin doctors. Any decline in Malay support for Anwar may prevent the exodus of BN MPs towards Pakatan to form the Government on 16th September.
richard … goto anwaribrahimblog.com lar …. you new kah?
If anwar win, group of our friends will have a celebration dinner tomorrow.wish malaysia out of darkness n leave those devil in hell.
Oh, I hope DSAI will win. Enough of these crap dished by UMNO.
Am careful that there smells like evil all round. somehting is brewing in corrupted minds ..
lets pray that PR will win tomorrow. its for a better tomorrow. lets hope makkal shakti will be restored……….whatever race u r, whatever religion u r..please pray that justice will be prevailed…its like watching tamil movie where the corrupt politician gave you so much of troubles and i hope the endung will also be like a tamil movie where the hero will win (DSAI)
This nation does not belong to BN. The nation does not belong to PM and his family. DPM ! It is not your birthright to be the next PM of this nation. Not even the right of the ruling party to decide on who will be the Premier but it is the rakyat who will decide. VOTE FOR DSAI.Permatang Pauh, Malaysians across the nation will pray for you.26 AUGUST 2008-VOTE FOR DSAI. PERMATANG PAUH IT IS YOUR CALL AND BN GOONS MUST BE TAUGHT ANOTHER LESSONS. We will remember you people of Permatang Pauh, your bravery, sincerity and commitment for change will never be forgotten. Imagine one day we will be able to celebrate MERDEKA Day in Permatang Pauh and not in the form of what is done now as it is a waste of taxpayers money. VOTE FOR DSAI.
hi anil, great job you and the bloggers are doing. have been forwarding all your blog addresses to people outside ptg pauh,a s far as melaka and selangor. these ppl have been surprised by the onslaught of the MSM on anwar. the word being spread around is that anwar will lose.
i pointed out to them to check out the ground zero info first (you guys)before making up their minds. One thing for sure - BN is running scared.
i have been on “standby” duty here for the past week, so while i can’t compromise my “duty”, I’ve been observing and asking a few questions here and there.
basically, the chinese and indians votes are secured. the urban malay votes go to anwar. the 1 problem area as far as pakatan is concerned is that the rural malay votes are somewhat 50-50. the older folks have known nothing but BN and religion plays a big part in their lives. and suddenly the alleged sodomy case is a concern for them.
but PAS has been doing some great support work and the revelation by the imam last night rgd syaiful’s swearing upon the Koran - there has been a swing to Pakatan Nik Aziz’ presence is another factor.
Traffic at Kubang Semang at 5.30 pm is reduced to a crawl. Traffic police are manning all roads. Certain roads in BM have been cordoned off. You can hear and see the police and media helicopters on and off.
A stall holder next to the Masjid Jamek was telling me: “harap-harap kita dapat undi majoiriti 10-14,000 bang, 27 juta rakyat malaysia sedang menanti ini….
That about sums up the feelings of most locals for now. will try and update later.
Someone asked me the other night, “What does it mean to be a Malaysian?” I guess, what came out from me would also be relevant to your post here. Let me put up here some of my raw random thoughts.
To me, being a Malaysian means ..
… we have a chance to create a future together we can call home
… being a people who will bring our uniqueness and diversity not into a melting pot where we cease to be who we are but a mosaic where we can become better than we are in isolation
.. a mosaic where even our mess can be beautiful
because we’re willing to look into the future together
a future where we are creating a home for our kids to be friends and family
My hope is the votes tomorrow will be a way the friends and family in Permatang Pauh can voice for themselves and on behalf of others the aspiration and commitment towards a Malaysia ALL of us can call home.
My hope is the one who wins will persevere further towards the changes needed for a better Malaysia to emerge.
my 2 sen
DSAI to kick a**!!
for the sake of hope… hope of restoring Malaysia Inc
the current bunch of geezers must go!!!

Have the MyKads been returned to rightful owners today?
I want Malaysia to become the nation it’s meant to be, where all the races can live in harmony. Sounds idealistic, yes? But well, we should at least have one lofty goal to aim for.
I do hope that Anwar can be the uniter of all races that he seems to be … but our racial prejudices is going to be challenging to overcome.
Anak Bangsa Malaysia of Permatang Pauh, In you lies the awesome power……

All hope for a New Malaysia begin on 26th Aug 2008.
Wish DSAI good luck and victory!!
Wish he can bring us march together One Race, One Nation to Putrajaya……and beyond
Finally…
It all boils down to this.
History in the making indeed for Malaysians.
A by election that will change the face of Malaysia forever.
I smell a change in the air and it feels good.
Nevertheless, be very vigilant for those who are willing to risk everything just to cling on to power.
I just want to see, before I close my eyes for the very last time, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sitting in the Prime Minister’s office, smiling broadly and thanking everyone for helping to realise the dream of a BETTER Malaysia…
where equality is the order of the day
where everyone regardless of race, religion gets treated fairly without fear or favour
where outstanding students automatically get scholarships, no question asked
where education is free
where ISA is confined to the pages of history
where the judiciary regains its former glory
and
where my children & grandchildren to come shall enjoy the bountiful harvest of a history in the making

VIVA ANWAR!!!
VIVA DEMOCRACY!
LAWAN TETAP LAWAN!
May ALLAH protect you, Anwar and bless us all, Amin Ya rabbal ‘alamin…
“History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.”
— Winston Churchill
Today is the day for the PP voters to “write” history on behalf of all Malaysians..a new chapter entitled “The journey to Merdeka”!
My prayer as a mother: that the day will come when our nation’s children will truly be “colour blind”, able to appreciate their own racial heritage and also celebrate the differences among themselves, safely under the Malaysian sun.
May God bless Malaysia with His peace and presence.
I was in BM this afternoon and saw for myself the sentiments on the ground.
My conclusion;
Barring any massive rigging, Anwar Ibrahim should win hands down.
Starting from tomorrow night, we should be able to go to bed with dreams of hope rather than nightmares of despair.
A new beginning!
I only would like to urge all those who worked tirelessly for Anwar’s return to parliament to realize that the work has only just begun.
Work to strengthen and consolidate the Pakatan Rakyat and work to make the final push for Putrajaya so as to be in a position to undo all the harm done to this country.
Chest thumping is allowed but as everything else, remember moderation is the word. Ours is still a divided country.
I’m going to bed tonight daring to dream again!
PERMATAING PAU
Victory for Saudara Anwar is guaranteed by the Grace of God
He has suffered enough at the hands of the Cruel Dictator -
Mahathir; … the police chief to beat him to break his neck and (Mahathir) told the nation that Anwar himself beat. Under the Penal Code such offence, the sentence should have been 20 years; but the police man was given two months…
The his case was to be heard by Justice Dato K.C.Vohrah; (but the judge was) transferred … to another section. …A kangaroo court…bullied him right and left. Justice paul was a cruel man.
He treated the defence very badly and threatened them with imprisonments.
Anwar served more than 6 years in jail for no offence committed
by him. Mahathir was scared of him. Finally, the Federal
Court found Anwar NOT GUILTY on the sodomy charge.
Mahathir should be called in to pay for his … activities… (and to account for) his… wealth.
Still they will not leave him alone. The BN is after him. They are scared of Anwar because he has a lot of information on the ruling cliques criminal corrupt activities.
We pray, that he will come out of this and win the seat with thumping majority.
We expect that the Pakatan Rakyat will form a government at least by the end of the year. BN has been in power for 50 years and the country has gone to dogs. There is no proper sharing of wealth by the 3 communities -
FEDERAL CONSTITUTION
The communities have been divided and the BN says that Malaysia is an Islamic country - contrary to what the Federal Constitution declares. The constitution defines the ethnic majority Malays as Muslims; but it also guarantees freedom of religion. Lawyers and rights groups have consistently argued that Malaysia is a secular state and the BN should abide by the Federal constitution.
Victory for Saudara Anwar
Long Live Reformasi
Besides hoping the nation to reform, every individual should take its own role. Starting by reforming our community environment. This is no use just talking. I am working on persuading my siblings to join my mission on community revolution. Such idea is not new in Japan and South America.
Dear Anil,
Here is a true account from a voter:
I went to queue up in front of the SK Seberang Jaya II voting centre’s gate @ 7.45am. There were already several early birds in the queue and hoards of reporters. Arif Shah and his wife and several women walked from his house and arrived there @ 7.50am. He attempted to chat up the voters but their responses were luke warm. From their expressions and body language it looked like they were not voting him. Nobody offered to salam him. Even those extended salam by him merely shook his hand and quickly pulled back. Not a single voter were heard uttering any ‘good luck’ wish.
Instead, a Malay man next to me was quite pissed off by Arif blocking at the entrance, I could see this man rolled up his eyes and draw a deep breath.
Sensing the poor response from the real voters, Arif quickly turned his attention to the media and gave a short interview plus photo taking.
The voting centre finally opened at 8.00am and people started streaming into the compound in droves. The turn out was as much as the one in 080308 (I was there voting @ 8.00 sharp too).
I casted my vote whie Arif casted his in Saluran 2. While on my way out, I saw Arif still hanging around the compound, walking listless trying to shake the hand of anyone who looks familiar to him. By this time the press had deserted him and he appeared to be alone, like a lone sea-gull. Again, this time nobody went up to shake his hand too.
Judging by that kind of response, I am confident BN will lose big this time, real BIG, probably 20,000-30,000 majority.
Well, Malaysia, I have discharged my duty in voting for Anwar. The rest will he history
WOKAY, VOTE ANWAR!
I have something to share: My mom, who is 62 this year, was a keen supporter of Anwar and Lim Kit Siang. She asked me to read out the news for her and she is very happy to hear that Anwar has won the election. Thanks for the updates.
