In this era of Youtube, elected reps had better be on their toes when discharging their duties as they are coming under ever greater public scrutiny.

Three video clips show Penang Opposition Leader (from Umno/BN) Azhar Ibrahim apparently gesturing with his rear on two different occasions at the Penang State Assembly last week.

The first video has Azhar hitting out at theSun newspaper while apparently gesturing with his hand at his rear: “Itu paper pembohong besar. Ambil you punya paper calit … lagi baik. (That paper is a big liar. Take your paper and smear it with … would be better.)” His statement was made in the mistaken belief that theSun had reported him as commenting on a rowdy BN demonstration outside the state assembly when in reality the paper had not quoted him on the issue.

The second and third videos show different angles of the same action where Azhar appears to point his rear at PKR assembly member Sim Tze Tzin while saying, “Ini peraturan. (Here’s the regulation.)”

Azhar was later suspended for the rest of the meeting by the Speaker after refusing to apologise for his behaviour. He insisted he was only bending down to reach for his bag.

  2. The right to assemble without arms is guaranteed by the Malaysian constitution. That guarantee was abused by later amendments and addendum.

In the spirit of that guarantee, what the police should have done, as in other matured democracies with standards of living far exceeding ours, was to allow demonstrators the space and time to express their dissatisfaction and to maintain security so that a peaceful demonstration can end within the stipulated time without incident. Instead the police inconvenient hundreds of thousands of commuters with unnecessary road blocks.

Only the blind recognise not that police action to prevent democratic expressions in a society basically help drive investors away.

    • Who can guarantee that any demonstration is peaceful one? With presence of many people, only a small incitement will cause violent actions and endless retaliation. Any demonstration hurts businesses and image of our country. Only loser resorted to demonstration. Clearly we know who is the loser.

      • Hallo! Stop your spin! PR had organized demonstrations and they attract people from all walks of lives and the numbers ranged from tens of thousands, not like the ones organized by UMNO, BN goons, can only attract at best 100 demonstrators and that too, many are paid to attend.

In the name of justice, who always disrupt the PR demonstrations? It is always the pdrm. You look like a master mole, Gerakan K. PR has always shown their class to demonstrate peacefully. BN just cannot organize a demonstration because they just cannot attract the numbers! Name one demonstrations organized by BN that attracted 1,000 people? The one in stadium Perak to launch 1 Malaysia? Look at those in the pictures, school children paid RM30 each to attend! Losers like Gerakan K, and BN do not have the numbers to organize demonstrations! Clearly, organizing a protest, and without getting support, these losers Gerakan people are out on a whispering campaign now, and mostly, these spinners are half baked and not very well educated and their targets is the aunties and uncles and we got to be careful of this shameful activity going on conducted by Gerakan, to con the old and less educated. We must tell our people to be aware of them.

To Gerakan K, please answer, How do you think the PR Government has governed badly that it had affected the livelihood of the people? People in Selangor are so happy with the change in Government and it is unshakable, as the 1Malaysia rhetoric, tak laku de…. dah habislah. Retorik baru di perlukan. Now the tide is strongly in favour of the PR, 200 days ago, it was different. Looks like the spirits of Mongolia and Teoh Beng Hock is back!

        • “Malay majority concept” advocated by PAS which forces temples needed to relocate from its original place just because that area currently is MALAY MAJORITY AREA! That is scary. Mind you, Malaysia is malay majority area. How about this then? Relocate temples out of Malaysia?

          • Your claim is mischievous. … When PAS took over kelantan nik aziz saw that many had applied (for chinese and indian temples) but were (allegedly) rejected by umno. He subsequently invited the chinese and indians from various temples for a chit-chat and after the talk all the temples were approved and those without land he offered them land for the purpose. Today kelantan boast one of the largest buddha statues in malaysia and many chinese from there when they travelled to terengganu or pahang spoke of such openness and acceptance.

The case in shah alam was engineered by umno goons … You seemed to think that the rakyat could be fooled by your clever spins and rhetorics.

          • Ketuanan concept advocated by UMNO and supported by Gerakan! PAS never advocated “malay majority concept” Stop your spin! So you, one of the greatest critics of PR states agree that there are no issues that affect you for the worst! Thank you Gerakan K. In the event you wish to change your mind, we allow you the benefits of the doubts and tell us what is so bad about the PR Government compared to their BN counterparts.

In the event you are not agreeable to my argument that PAS did not advocate the “malay majority concept” which is unheard of, except in UMNO and BN, kindly state your point and please make sure when you make a statement, make sure it is on firm ground.

For your further information, the largest buddha statue is located in the state of Kelantan, stronghold and headquarter of PAS.
If you are not aware, please visit Kelantan for a tour and it will open your eyes.

          • - male and female segregation in kelantan, this is outdated policy
            - DAP failed to protect Kg Buah Pala, this is election promise by DAP. Don’t deny this, I have video evidence. Ask this blogowner, he also has plenty of evidence.

  3. No one can guarantee that a demonstration will always turn out to be peaceful because no one can guarantee moles from the other side will not create trouble to sabotage the event. An impartial police force may reduce the probability of a sabotage.

However, we can surely guarantee that even before a demonstration were to take place, the police would be creating major traffic jams in the city stretching for many kilometers and for several days.
In every demonstration held so far by the opposition, the demonstrators acted admirably and most tolerantly under extreme provocation by those who went on a rampage with tear gas, chemical sprays and baton charges.

Even candle light vigils had been broken up with force and intimidation.

From the events that had happened, who do you think are causing all the disturbances? The rakyat or the authorities?

Never harbour the false impression that investors will avoid countries which permit freedom of assembly without arms. Otherwise, FDIs would be pouring into North Korea.

  4. Gerakan K.

The last time I heard of the “Malay majority concept” which forced temples needed to relocate from its original place just because that area currently was MALAY MAJORITY AREA was in Shah Alam supported by your UMNO comrades with hooligans publicly stomping on a cow head. They now call upon the government to deprive YB Kula’s citizenship just because he dared to raise a question on UMNO’s “Ketuanan” in Parliament.

    Getting senile? :)

  5. Selangor EXCO (from PAS) Hassan Ali (allegedly) directed MBSA to confiscate beer from 7/11 in Shah Alam because that area is malay majority area. This is blantant unlawful act by PR administration. Since when there is provision for malay majority area ruling?

    • Since when was there ever a provision for a Malay majority area? Never! And certainly not in PR-ruled states.

Gerakan K, do you truly believed Hassan Ali acted on a directive from the PAS top echelon on that beer confiscation issue? Nope. He took on his own take of things unilaterally — in part due to his Exco position in the S’gor Govt but mainly because he was (and still is) (allegedly) in cahoots with the UMNO goons to deliver S’gor back to UMNO. Stirring up trouble, that’s what he did.

TULANG BESI, bless this great man, has given a pretty informative rundown of the events in his own blog.

So, shut your trap about PAS practising Malay majority area ruling. Don’t lie or Santa ain’t gonna deliver presents to naughty Gerakan boys…ho-ho-ho!

      • I noticed that when PR supporters have zero reason to defend any wrongful act by PR leaders, they tend to label that leader as mole, BN cahoot, etc.

Just admit your idol is not an angel anymore. Don’t support PR if anyone wanted to freedom to drink beer.

  6. No one is an angel.
You’ll have to ask God if he had indeed sent one to Penang to save Gerakan. :)

Anyway, it is far better to live under a generally honest government which gets excellent grades in the Auditor General report than to live under one with endless corruption scandals. Hopefully, this may spearhead changes for BN states to emulate.

Take care of your bank account well, Gerakan, because this country does not have an infinite supply of oil money to pay a billion here and a billion there to bail out corruption. The end result of this, if the pride of ketuanan does not allow us to submit to IMF, is that your millions in the bank may turn out to be quite worthless if it takes 1 million ringgit to buy you a pint of beer.
