Many Malaysians do not seem to be amused by what the BN is doing in Perak.
An SMS poll on ntv7 over its prime time 8.00pm news in English asked whether the Perak crisis would affect the BN’s performance negatively in the next general election.
A whopping 96 per cent of respondents said it would.
Malaysians are obviously aware of how the BN is subverting the aspirations of the people. The BN will find that short-term political gains – achieved through such questionable and dubious means – will come at a heavy price in the longer term.
That’s not all. The latest update on the poll on this blog, shows that 96 per cent of 2,073 respondents (as at 11.57pm) want either a fresh state election or by-elections in the defectors’ constituencies (see below):
Should Malaysia build nuclear power plants?
- No (92%, 4,513 Votes)
- Yes (6%, 315 Votes)
- Don't know (2%, 62 Votes)
Total Voters: 4,890
Ampun Tuanku, beribu ribu ampun, HRH Sultan Azlan.
Tuanku, since first saw Tuanku in person way back in the early 70′s when Tuanku then was the Lord President and also President of MHA, we have never lost our utmost love and trust for Tuanku till today and even till the day we die. We know Tuanku always have Tuanku’s subjects in Tuanku’s heart.

ChineseAussie,
I buy your point here although this will never be proven and the truth will never prevail as to what really happened. Whatever it is, my support for the opposition still stays as strong as ever as i believe in a change; not only for me but for my future generations as well.
What happened today is a double blow to us, the rakyat and the opposition. However, having said that, i believe Anwar should state his stand on jumping parties. DOes he support it or condemn it. THe crossover is a strong slap across his face..
cheers

Who cares about GE 13? Btw, still 4 more years to go. By that time, Malaysian as usual who didn’t have a very good memory will surely forget this episode. Most important thing is BN is in POWER NOW!!

I stress again. Nothing has changed except we have a ‘hung’ assembly in Perak. The status quo still remains.
Which is PR is still the state government and Nizar is still MB. And since the MB has made a request to the head of state for the dissolution of the assembly, HRH Sultan of Perak is required to accede to the request by parliamentary convention.
Until and unless HRH determines otherwise, all is not lost in Perak.
Now is the time for all able Perakians to stand up and make known their wishes to HRH. Do it by whatever legal means possible, through blogs, emails, letters, or peaceful protest.
Your fate lies in your own hands and the hands of your wise ruler.
I shall say no more since I’m not a Perakian and can only do so much by way of advice.

The BN might have taken over the state, but they will never take over the spirit of the people of Perak.

The last GE, I refrained from voting because I know even without my vote, PR will win. This time round, I will come out to vote even though I know PR will win again because I want to give PR to win BIG.

If Anwar didn’t threaten 916, the Perak (and Selangor and Kedah as well) PR government would not have lasted two weeks let alone eleven months. Read the SD by the PKR Ipoh Barat division. Najib (must have) already (been) planning (this) 3 days after March 8. Only Anwar’s maneuverings kept the Federal government constantly off balance and on the defensive; his moves bought time for PR to build a track record of democratic and transparent governance in the 4 states it newly won, which would have under constant attack from Putrajaya if it was not so occupied with Anwar’s threats. Whether Anwar actually had the numbers or was just bluffing is irrelevant. Did he actually commit an illegal or undemocratic act in the process? He has been pilloried by some for something people said he was going to commit..but did he actually commit the act?? Don’t compare the astute and responsible manner in which Anwar “plays” politics, within the rules of the democratic system, with the crude questionable and despicable manner of Najib’s current takeover attempt.

Finally our DPM has something to smile about. We all saw it on TV during the press conference. I would bestow him the Malaysian Books of Records’ Malaysia’s Best Smile. I wonder how long that smile will last.
What amazes me is the fact while the world is reeling in economic woes, our politicians have all the time to call for a press conference and to announce defections with smiles.

Talk is cheap, so says BN to PKR. Now, this is exactly what the BN is capable of doing. Seriously, these tactic are only for desperado and one whose soul have long left them. PKR and DSAI have been gentleman enough, patient and professional not to do what BN is doing. All those false accusation regarding PKR, is now being demonstrated by themselve BN, from hopping frogs to unethical actions plus evil plans and deeds. Anymore needed to convince the rest of the rakyat here? This is the exact opposite of being a simple human..period!! Hidup Rakyat!!!

Hmm, one can see swirling gently in the mists in one’s teacup that age-old, guardianship wisdom of Perakland which will
deftly emerge tomorrow once again to give the now disrespected and badly treated rakyat there much good cheer and justice by delivering to them on a big, shiny silver platter that very tiresomely pesky and betraying
UMNO/BN political head.
WE SAY YEAH! & NO TO ISA!
AND HARIS FOR AG & RPK FOR IGP! GO FOR DSAI FOR PM & LKS FOR DPM & KIND WAN AZIZAH FOR HOME MINISTER.

I don’t really understand by doing so, what actually will BN gain. Najib has no gut to go to poll, if he does and loss in the election, say bye bye to his dream of becoming Prime Minister.

Dear Fellow Progressive Citizens of Malaysia
Isn’t it the case that Perak can still be led by a minority government until the minority government is ousted through a vote of no confidence in the State Assembly? (Can an expert on the Perak state constitution comment on this?)
Don’t get mad, mobilise! There is strength in numbers. Show your disgust with the widespread corruption of the ruling regime (no, we ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to use the euphemism “money politics”) by your full political participation — getting others out to vote, voting against undesirable politicians, running for office, signing petitions, meeting with your State Assembly representative or MP, working as volunteers for progressive politicians, donating money to progressive politicians, taking part in peaceful demonstrations, engaging in non-violent civil disobedience if necessary e.g. refusing to obey unjust laws, etc etc

Perhaps Anwar has been out-maneuvered. He’s been playing with the “defection” stuff all these while and Najib apparently got fed-up pitch him to wall in Perak.
But I predicted it would be short-lived victory. BN is tainted – and what they did in Perak – will be drag in next GE.
