The Penang state government has confirmed that there are indeed housing plans for half the MPPP land at Jalan S P Chelliah.
The project could involve 11 acres and will be undertaken by the state government, probably via PDC. The maximum hone price will be RM400000 and at least 30 per cent of the homes will be low- and medium-cost housing.
If at all there is a private developer engaged, it would just be for the LMC portion, said the source.

Let us hope the remaining 11 acres would be properly planned as well to be used for social amenities, like recreation and sports, and as green lung for the residents and the city centre!
Affordable housing must not be equated to pigeon holes units!!

Looks like it has been raised from 7.2 acres back then to 11 acres now.
