New hope with Harapan Baru?

The following statement was released with the launch of Harapan Baru at a hotel in KL yesterday. What do you think? Does it really bring about new hope? I believe this new entity/movement provides a platform for a more enlightened, inclusive and progressive alternative to Pas’ increasingly conservative approach to Islam and its bewildering rapprochement with Umno. That can’t be a bad thing for the country; in fact, it is a movement whose time has come.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

1. Perkembangan mutakhir negara sangat meresahkan.

Sekian. Wassalam.

Mohamad Bin Sabu

Pengerusi

Anwar Ibrahim has announced the formation of a “strengthened coalition”, which will include PAS’ splinter group Gerakan Harapan Baru.

“We are working towards a strengthened coalition and will work with all progressive movements including NGOs such as Bersih, Abim, Ikram and newly formed Gerakan Harapan Baru.

“This coming together of a wide range of groups committed to reform and change will offer a genuine democratic and just alternative to the rakyat.

Che Det on ‘Conspiracy’ in his blog: Lately we are seeing many funny statements. The Utusan loudly proclaimed that the Prime Minister had taken action against the Wall Street Journal. Actually it was not legal action or suing for defamation. Just politely asking the Wall Street Journal why do they publish the article. Is there a need to ask that silly question? Isn’t it obvious that as a newspaper the information obtained by Wall Street Journal was sensational. Any newspaper, convinced of the authenticity of the information would have printed it. Of course the local mainstream papers will not for… Read more »

Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown has made public emails between her and journalist Lester Melanyi to prove that he was not involved in the whistleblower site’s expose on 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). In an email interview with The Malaysian Insider, she said the emails sent by Melanyi to her, from March 1 till recently, revealed that he knew nothing about the 1MDB expose or what she was doing, given that he had asked very “basic questions”. She added this gave her the impression that he was merely “fishing” for information.

The Special Task Force that was set up to investigate the allegations regarding 1MDB now has to suspend its investigation due to this current development. The Special Task Force conducted its investigation based on the earlier evidence. However, since this evidence is now suspect the investigation can no longer proceed. The Special Task Force now has to request, through the Malaysian police, for permission to interview Justo to find out whether the evidence was fabricated or doctored. Only once that has been established can the Special Task Force continue its investigation. This certainly adds a new dimension to the entire… Read more »

Justo denied any claim of tampered documents, all the emails and information in his hands are genuine.

Zahid’s colleague, a fellow minister, has admitted that he said the documents were tempered with based on his own logical assumption. Can you believe that logical assumption that justo tempered with the documents??? Concorting lies are Umno/BN’s habitual behaviour !!!

I think we must not because of we hate DAP so much that we are willing to make fools of ourselves. There is really no need for such self humiliation, most pitiful !!! Mr Steven Yang, got it ? Enough !!!

Does mercenary Lester has any credibility in the first place? As far as I know, the ‘strength of his credibility’ was supposed to be derived from his claimed previous position with the SR but this has since been refuted. He then came up with the claim of his meetings in London with Justo in a desperate attempt to remain credible but ended up further blundering with the James Steward’s photo (much like the case of LGE’s son which involved the photo of a teenage female chess champion plucked from the cyberspace}.

Why did Pua who sit in the PAC Committee did not bring up the issue of 1MDB doctored documents during their investigation. Only after PAC has cleared 1MDB of any wrong doing in its preliminary report did Pua go public about 1MDB doctored documents. He was one of the deciding Committee members and as such his comments now hold no credential is it not.

A former editor of the Sarawak Report has reportedly come forward alleging a conspiracy to bring down Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the 1Malaysia Development Board. The unnamed editor reportedly gave a video confession, provided in a police report lodged this morning, offering “solid evidence” of the conspiracy. In the video, the editor alleged that Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown, a British national, had forged documents used to defame 1MDB in several exposes published by the site. http://www.malaysia-today.net/ex-swak-report-editor-reveals-clare-brown-tampered-with-documents-as-part-of-plot-to-topple-najib-rahman-dahlan/ A whole slew of local and international media organisations, operating in Malaysia and Singapore, may be called up by police… Read more »

Sarawak Report founder and editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown has dismissed new claims by Barisan Nasional (BN) that the whistleblower website published forged documents on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), saying that the editor who made a “confession” video on the matter never worked for the London-based site.

Has the PDRM made any attempt to get hold of this ‘former SR editor’ to assist in their investigation?(since they are kind of quick in wanting to call ‘the opposition leader’ for questioning}. Moreover, the alleged transaction of stolen information happened in Singapore and the affected company is registered and based outside Malaysia. So what offence has been committed by the said opposition leader that is within the jurisdiction of the Malaysian law?

In any whistle-blowing case such as this, shouldn’t the investigators (FIRST) look into the accused’s accounts & other factors for more incriminating evidences to be sure no stones are unturned to reveal the worms?
Instead we are seeing a hot pursue after the sources of whistle-blowing!

In a local cultural belief, you are forewarned not to whistle in the house after dusk & call for prayers.
Doing so will invite the devils, demons or penunggu. So it seems whistle-blowing can be harmful to the whistlers for whatever intent or purpose.

Zahid must respond ro this statement fron LKS: “For weeks, the home minister, the inspector-general of police (IGP) and the Umno/BN government generally made fools of themselves with the story of ‘blackmail by tampered email’, as they seem incapable of understanding that there could be no blackmail if the emails had been ‘tampered’ or doctored – as any such ‘blackmail’ could be simply foiled by denying their truth or veracity. “Now that the truth is finally established, that Justo never tampered with the PSI emails and documents, and the tale of ‘several Malaysians alleged to have directed Justo to manipulate… Read more »

Mounting evidence from present and ex-officials now indicates that Jho Low not only forged deals behind the scenes on behalf of Najib, but that he publicly dominated these meetings of the Board.

Taek Jho Low holds an American passport, which is in contravention of Malaysia’s strict nationality laws that only permit a single citizenship.

It perhaps explains his current refusals to submit to requests to attend the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee hearing in KL, as has been requested.

To answer this question, you will need to think like a typical Malay, majority of whom only reads and understand BM, and subjected to decades of UMNO’s doctrine and hardwired with BTN ideology.

They are most likely trying to garner support from “disillusioned” PAS members who feel the current PAS Ulama leadership has lost the lot. If they join other political parties, they will be branded as traitors to their religion and PAS. As a start, they NEED to gauge the grassroots’ sentiment. If they succeed in causing an exodus from PAS to the new group, then they have the confidence that they have read the signs correctly, but I honestly feel they/we will be dissappointed. We need to understand the mentality of the larger majority of PAS members. Their number one focus… Read more »
