PH is not doing great. Economy is struggling, PMX is seen as held at ransom to the whims and fancies of UMNO and perceived as selective in eradicating corruption. Voters are not happy. Despite that, minority voters do not have much option when considering PN as the alternative. KKB is one of the very few outlier constituency where the minorities have substantial block vote to keep PH in power. The PH victory should serve as a wake-up call for the Opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) to stop using race and religion in elections to win over voters.
In the opposition, one member of the coalition has a, “I am a Malay first ” leader. The other member of the coalition is from the religious group. If you ask them to stop using race and religion, what else is there for them to talk about?
KKB was for the taking by the Opposition. Even this simple task they could not handle properly and effectively and win the by-election.
