MCA will take over and contest the former Gerakan traditional seats in Penang in the 15th General Election, said its president, Wee Ka Siong.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2022/09/11/mca-will-take-over

The Chinese community of Bayan Baru and Relau welcomes MCA to replace the ineffective PKR and the useless Sim.

My uncle in Bayan Baru are not satisfied with PKR’s Sim performance in helping the Chinese community. He said many Chinese voters are now turning to MCA.

MCA’s Saw Yee Fung is on a mission to make things better for Bayan Baru in the 15th General Election.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2022/10/16/ge15-mca039s-saw-yee-fung-hopes-for-new-beginning-in-bayan-baru

The problem with PKR at Bayan Baru is taking the Chinese voters for granted. Sim’s weakness (irrelevant cycling plan for Bayan Baru) is now exploited by MCA. PKR must have concrete plan for Bayan Baru (new library?), else the seat is at risk.

Bayan Baru should aspire for good facilities for residents.

Check out this new Bukit Canberra integrated hub at Sembawang, Singapore.

YB Sim should visit Singapore to learn how development can benefit residents.

YB Sim, if re-elected, should create one integrated hub as a community project to harmonise various ethnic groups with recreational activities and reading corners, with budget potentially approved by new PM Anwar.

MCA’s Saw Yee Fung will challenge YB SIM at Bayan Baru. Young Vs Old. Who will the young voters choose?

Wyatt do you think of this MCA candidate?
She may shriek out in frustration when under pressure from demanding Bayan Baru folks?
I think many might stay put with Sim just for Hopeful sake.

P.s. whoever gives discounts for bicycle purchase or sets up reading spaces for student n old folks may have extra edge?

Multi-cornered contest in Penang a sure yes.

Vote for party or candidate’s calibre?

My humble opinion : DAP to continue ruling Penang but I don’t mind good non-Harapan candidates to counter some unpopular DAP state policies eg over building of expensive condos not ideally for B40 and result in many white elephant ivory (no pun intended).

My vote not partisan. Whoever can promise and deliver for Bayan Baru I support. Presently PKR’s YB Kumaresan is a big disappointment. Go ask Batu Urban non-Malay community.

Be prepared to pay more for your petrol as fuel subsidy is likely to be reduced. M40 and above may not get targeted subsidy at all now that MRT2 is operational soon.

Condos are built by investors. It is a free market. When they made $$$ BN government tax them more and more income to gomen. Further they create jobs and spin off to kopi tiams and mamak shops and suppliers

BN facilitates chronies, likewise PH.

Chronies include businesses.

Businesses include developers.

Developers include people’s affordable housings and profit minded condominiums.

Malaysia should continue to embrace multi-culturism as the uniqueness attract money spending tourists benefitting the country.

Penang’s 9th Emperor festival with vegetarian offerings is unique to this region even not exist in Mainland China (after culture revolution in 60s wiped away past Chinese beliefs n traditions n religious relics).

https://youtu.be/Wrkxvno6amw

China youtubers like above can do better promotion than Tourism Malaysia to attract China visitors to Penang.

Pros and cons. More foreign tourists may likely to raise street food menu prices. Beware.

Penang should promote other aspects of tourism instead of its hawker food. Why? Because tourists are causing price hike of the street food, no good for locals.

Hawkers are like developers. They dont want $$$? They will raise prices or reduce the food content. They pay no taxes to governmentt but they make full use of public funded amenties like roads and foot paths. Why students have to study hard looking for library to study? Who is going employ them? Better to be a hawker and can start earning $$$ early. If they finished unis, who is going to employ them? How many Uni graduates are business man?.

Michelin inspectors (likely to be ang MOH) could be visiting your neighborhood hawkers to sample their food.

Now ringgit depreciates a lot, favouring budget conscious travellers to extend their vacation after the popular Thailand visits. Penang should offer more direct flights from ASEAN regions for a start, beside luring rich visitors from China, India, Japan and Korea to spend money to sustain and upgrade many businesses here. Don’t count on AirAsia for more direct flight as Tony’s lucrative business model is for KL-Penang connecting flights. We hope other new budget airlines to compete healthily to provide cheap direct flights to and from Penang. Food business is one of them. However, just toake sure street food prices not… Read more »

Cleaniness and food preparation is still not totally overcome.

For new hygiene era, please refrain from washing food plates utensils in front of shop next to longkang. Dedicate washing at back of shops no very visible to foreign tourists (who snap photos bad publicity).

Penang shophouse Inns, with heritage settings, are not cheap either.
Wyatt can take shriek to witness these heritage inns, eg Yeng Keng at Chulia street.
Wong Fei Hong already rebranded in 90s by Jet Li, and shriek’s reference may be yesteryears version?

Mike, you can get a cheap site in town or city centre? Anything in town or city centre cost more. You go China, you see many highrise apartments. They tear down old houses because it cost even more to maintain..Why not continue to keep and use old cars and motorbikes. They are heritage.

The RM40 billion Widad Langkasuka mixed-use development in Langkawi, Kedah, is intended to be a tourism destination built on the paradigm of “Malay vernacular architecture” – based on the archipelago’s history of designs that integrate green and eco-friendly native tropical features.

Widad Langkasuka will establish a smart city using sustainable technology that preserves the island’s geographical nature and rich cultural heritage, to complement the integrated development’s homes, businesses, educational facilities, and medical hub.

Gerakan rather sit out polls than use ‘moon’ logo in PAS states

Too Bad. From Ruling the State of Penang to the current state of ‘Not sure where I am now’ situation. Maybe, Gerakan now needs ‘fresh’ young leaders with ‘fresh’ ideas.

Here is a suggestion. Go check up with MUDA and see if you people, together with a few other independent groups can work out and come up with a third coalition.

Rakyat needs a third coalition, this time ‘ a cat ‘ to be among the 2 bickering group of ‘pigeons’.
