Penang exco members have surrendered the keys to their official cars to the state secretary as the state government functions in caretaker mode ahead of the general election.

This stands in sharp contrast to the BN’s use of Information Ministry vehicles for party purposes as reported with photos in this blog previously.

On Saturday, Aliran had released a statement urging political parties not to use official vehicles and other machinery in the campaign. The statement came on the heels of the Selangor exco members’ move to surrender their official cars forthe duration of the campaign period.

Meanwhile the BN crony and flamboyant billionaire playboy Low Taek Jho, aka. Jho Low, is helping little-known NGO 1Malaysia Welfare Club to organise a charity concert on April 20 in Penang featuring international celebrities including American hip hop singer Swizz Beats and rapper Busta Rhymes. Another vote buying exercise? Penangites have stopped attending BN ceramah since 2008. They were already fed up of all those promises made but were never fulfilled. In 2008, thousands would attend Pakatan Rakyat’s ceramah and even donated to their election funds while BN could only get a crowd of less than 50 people, who were… Read more »

You know things are really going bad for UMNO/BN when PR can find something so easy to make a big deal out of…These kinds of things matter more than it seems. its all about giving people confidence in EXECUTION – getting the details AND the principle right.

This PR state government is always like this, trying to project a public friendly image in the mass media and online, but for the past 5 years did very little to solve ongoing problems that Penangites suffer annually like for instance the flash foods.Did they do anything concrete or beneficial for the masses ?Absolutely nothing! All the while talk about local council elections, harping on trivial issues such as the usage of the word “Penang”,giving dumb answers to serious issues(when asked why impose toll for the tunnel project,LGE replied Penang bridge operator can sue them if the didn’t,typo error for the hike in cost… Read more »

That should be the way. We should let Ah Pek and Ah Ma know that UMNO/Gerakan has been using rakyat’s money as if they own when they go for Gerakan’s election campaign. Tax payer have been swindle for more than 50 years.

That is for public relation exercise. Just for show only. I give you another superficial action like turn off the lights for 60 minutes. If you really care then just switch off air con’d, never use water heater and other electrical appliance that consume lots of power. Go green, stay natural and live in jungle again !!! Donate your iphone or galaxy something. Will you ??? This official cars surrendering action is pure for public relation only. It is not practical whether you are caretaker gomen or gomen. You have to WORK TOO under any mode. If exco can’t drive… Read more »

So anything that PR does is for show only, but when BN does something, it’s sincere. Is that what you’re trying to say?

Please lah, we’re not children.

Good governance must be seen to be done. The Penang State Exco is seen to be doing the right thing. What is wrong with that ?
