Uproar over social media. All the reading for today:

Sarawak Report: SENSATIONAL FINDINGS! – Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal accounts linked to 1MDB money trail

Wall Street Journal: Investigators believe money flowed to Malaysian leader Najib’s accounts amid 1MBD probe

Asia Sentinel: Could this be the Smoking Gun for Malaysia’s PM?

followed by the usual denial..

Reuters: Malaysia fund slams report $700 million went to PM’s personal account

Notice the wording: the PM had not taken any funds for “his personal use”. What about the allegation that it was for GE13 expenditure?

We definitely need a wide-ranging independent inquiry on everything related to 1MDB etc.

And on an unrelated note, but adding to Najib’s headache:
Outside The Box: Pusat Bandar Jengka Is Dead, Naza showroom half empty, Berita Publishing shutting down – semua sebab GST

Though I believe the Berita Publishing thing has more to do with the shift from print to online media.

Anyway, I wonder what Fitch has to say about all this.

Common sense should tell you whether such allegation is true or not. 700 million or 2.4 billion. Thats a lot of money. Just ask yourself, if you want to divert such a large sum, would you be so stupid as to put it into your personal account in a bank in your home town or KL if you are living in KL.. You would definitely put it in some foreign bank like the Swiss bank or off shore account in the Carribbean. It was supposedly to be deposited into his personal account in Ambank. One snap shot from Bank Negara… Read more »

The PMO has indicated he will take legal action against WSJ and Sarawak Report. Previously Makati accused the defacto of colluding with the American as an agent. Now its look like the Makati is doing the same acting like an American agent out to destroy the country because of his personal grudge

Where? In kangaroo courts, or in the courts of USA (against WSJ)
or Britain (against Sarawak Report)?

Tian Chua said: “We all understand the immense power vested in the PM. It will be a waste of time if the A-G or any task force continues to investigate 1MDB under the stewardship of Najib. If the PM has nothing to hide, he should be brave enough to at least temporarily step aside to allow an independent inquiry.”

Blue Ocean cybertroopers e.g. the super one claims to earn salary of RM2K a month. Pity those who on same wavelength yet not on gravy train ( and possible no more such funding after probing). Btw, off topic here just to remind Penang Tham Chiak Kui to stay at home these few days better surf anilnetto.com instead of going out as reported 6K China tourists flooding heritage street food on marketing incentive trips. I would say your ori food sifus will be busy earning money and forget the ordinary folks. Our local Marketing media kiamsiap not taking care of local… Read more »

My friend is A tourist guide. The actual number not fully disclosed to avoid sabotage as many locals may fear the China Invasion may deprive them of cheaper street food during this period.

Btw, a big number of them also venture out to Alor Star today visiting Kedah Palace and Paddy Museum.

next batch to arrive next week. So the total could be more than 6K as a record number of 12K China tourist on incentive marketing trip were in Pattaya recently contributing to tourism industry.

The ? Anil may ask the readers will such big turnout benefit the locals at large knowing that hawkers are sure winners this week !

Kudos to Penang Tourism. I believe it is hard work & cooperation between state agencies, corporations, travel agencies & airlines to realise this sizeable tourist arrival from China. Not only will it benefit Penang’s Ori-maestros (authentic food sifus), it will also help tourism related businesses like souvenir shops, shopping centres, hotels, trishaws, taxis & Penang’s image as the preferred destination in SEA. It will be a win-win for all. So far so good for niche marketing by CAT which deserves a pat for excellence. Suggestion: Perhaps Anil can walk around heritage zones wearing a T-Shirt with “你好吗” (ni hao ma)… Read more »

One other objective of the trip by the Mainland Chinese (PRC, not Prai) is to check up Penang properties as many of these chinese have earned big in the recent hike of Shanghai stock market before it plummets.

There must be an American around trying to sabotage the country and we know this agent right from Makutty time. The owner of the Edge is a close confidant of this opposition leader now in jail and so (allegedly is) the American agent. From the Edge to Sarawak Report to WJL, all are somewhat connected to this agent now in jail. Look like they are now colluding with the opposition to sabotage the country for their personal gain with tempered, doctored document and fabrication

Whenever faced with some adverse publicity the usual suspects dredged up by DUMNO will be : Westerners (especially Americans), Jews (or Israelis, as both mean the same thing to DUMNO), Cina, Christians, Opposition, Anwar and liberals; not necessarily in that order. I do think that there is a list where each bogeyman is used in turn so as the public is kept entertained.

The WSJ publish like this only if a) its verifiable facts or b) its from a source that has much to lose if the facts are not true or both.. That is why its swirling around Mahathir is behind this. If it is Mahathir, then it does not matter the facts are inaccurate so long as there is substance to the allegation which means that Muhiyiddin not only will but MUST act which means that its complete chaos in UMNO.. No matter what, Najib will not survive this.. He just don’t have what it takes which is the first original… Read more »

Malaysians are now more smarter and don’t believe in reading … paper Utusan Malaysia to get accurate reporting. Instead, they prefer to get reliable and proven news from a world renowned journal like the Wall Street Journal. Jibby, the onus is now on you to prove that the bank accounts is not yours. Or are we going to witness a similar situation like that of Altantunya, where all her immigration records mysteriously vanished into thin air?

She may have been blowned to bits without trace, but her ghosts will continue to haunt her killers till they die.

Najib should not resign. By resigning it would be admission of guilt. It has been somehwat proven that the allegation from Edge and Sarawak news have been tempered, doctored and fabricated. Now it only need the Thai police for final verification. Likewise WSJ are all in the same boat meaning the allegation may be tempered, doctored and fabricated. Najib will file a suit but not now. Let him and the police gather more evidence before suing the Edge, Sarawak and WSL kaw kaw. If he had wanted to divert the 700 millions, would he be so stupid as to divert… Read more »

Precisely why legal actions should be taken by Najib to clear his name and also for the sake of this country. For what you know, the Fitch’s rating for this country may further improve should the PM wins his lawsuit in none other than the US courts.

Ed G, This is just the beginning. Before you sue, you need to gather evidence. You don`t simply file an affidavit without concrete proof and evidence. Don`t worry that time will come when the drama come to a close. Let us wait and see the next 6 months. Meanwhile the opposition will do anything to drag down country just for their political expediency.
