The black hole of 1MDB

1MDB should have been rolling in the black with some RM12bn in land revaluation gains; instead it finds itself pouring money into a black hole of borrowings incurred to finance goodness-knows-what.

Many are scratching their heads over the sale of the Bandar Malaysia land to a joint venture consortium and the convoluted share arrangements and financing of the deal.

But instead of getting mired in that, let’s zoom out at take a look at the big picture of the 1MDB land banks and how much they are worth.

Basically, there are two major land banks in 1MDB’s books:

  • the Sungai Besi land for the Bandar Malaysia project and
  • the Tun Razak Exchange project site (TRX).

If 1MDB had just sat on these land banks that it had bought cheaply from the government and then disposed of them, it could have made a fat surplus – without doing anything and without incurring much debt!

Despite clearing Datuk Seri Najib of wrongdoing, the AG Apandi did not address several questions about the RM2.6 billion Saudi donation that flowed to the Malaysian prime minister’s account, said The Wall Street Journal. The AG’s 4-page statement didn’t address several questions Malaysian opposition figures have sought answers to, including: – Who specifically donated the money? – Why was it donated? – Why it took more than six months for the government to say where the money came from? – And what happened to the money that wasn’t returned? The statement also didn’t address why the money flowed to Mr.… Read more »

This has nothing to do with BN or what govt whatsoever. Don`t try to put some spendthrift guy and use it politically. This is what is happening to the Chinese community. When they have a short fall they blame it on the Malay or the establishment that is the BN but not themselves

Hello Yang

Welcome back to Mr Anil’s blog. Without your presence, this blog
was not as exciting — with blog readers basically agreeing with each other,
and condemning the 1PM and his 1Malaysia regime all the time! 🙂

The former KL CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah was charged in the Sessions Court with failure to declare a commission amounting to RM961,500.

Why PM Najib did not face a similar probe over the RM2.6 billion donation channelled into his personal accounts? AG Apandi Ali should press charges against PM Najib as the latter has failed to make the declaration as required under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.

1 USD = 4.43 RM
Why?
Ans: B’cos of one individual’s blunders (which we are now paying for).
He should step down. More than that, he & his cohorts+minions must pay for it, legally.

Don’t be so sure. Karma Laws are patient yet decisive. No flip-flopping unlike man-made laws. See what has happened to that MB with a Bali-styled bungalow. See what has happened to that MadHatter of Helang Island. He has lived a long life to now witness his own sowed seeds of corruption & feeling the heat of ‘geram’ (frustration) unable to unseat his stubborn minion. May he have a longer life of ‘geram’ to witness the end of his own legacy. These are only a few to quote here. I am sure you may recall the Law of Karma taking a… Read more »

‘KARMA’ TIME FOR MALAYSIA’S ‘HATRED’ POLICIES: CLEAR & PRESENT DANGER FROM THE IS http://www.brookings.edu/research/opinions/2015/12/16-malaysia-danger-from-islamic-state-chin Brookings scholar Joseph Liow laid out clearly the reasons for the rise of IS in Malaysia: the politicization of Islam by the state. In particular, both the ruling UMNO party and its main opponent, PAS use political Islam as their weapon of choice. The use of political Islam is a deliberate move by a group of committed Islamists hidden in the highest level of the Malaysian state and bureaucracy to create a Malay-Islamic state, not a mere theocratic state. This ideology is unique and separate from… Read more »

For the third year running, Singapore was ranked first in the Asia Pacific in a global index on talent competitiveness, trumping New Zealand and Australia. It also placed second globally in the annual Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI), which ranked more than 100 countries according to their ability to develop, attract and retain talent.

With the possible suspension of JPA scholarship and the attractiveness of SingDollar, many talented Malaysians will likely head south to study or to work.

My advice to all Malaysian, especially non-bumiputeras, please make plan for your future as you cannot count on your BN government when you retire. Watch this very educational video (it has English subtitle):

High debts and low savings are among the reasons why many Malaysians are unable to retire, a HSBC report has revealed. A whooping 91 per cent of Malaysians aged 45 and over who want to retire in the next five years are unable to do so due to some financial constraints, Country Head of Wealth Management Lim Eng Seong said, citing the report. More than 18,000 people from 17 countries participated in the two-month survey, which represents the views of 1,105 Malaysians. The survey participants also revealed that they are mainly bogged down by inadequate savings, having dependants who rely… Read more »
