This information on the Selangor MACC from the MACC website may be interesting. It states that 106 new staff were approved on 1 January 2009 for deployment from 2009 to 2013.

Last November, the then ACA (now MACC) director-general Ahmad Said Hamdan said the agency would be getting 5,000 new staff by 2012.

The MACC website also states that the director of Selangor MACC is P/TPj Ja’afar Bin Mahad, who took office only a month ago on 18 June 2009. He previously helmed the body for nine months in 2008.

Recent directors served very brief terms compared to their earlier predecessors:

11. PKPj I Hjh Azni Binti Hamzah 01.01.1999 – 31.01.2005 (7 years)
12. PKPj I Shaharuddin Bin Khalid 01.11.2006 – 31.12.2006 (2 months)
13. PKPj I Mohd Jamidan Bin Abdullah 01.01.2007 – 30.09.2007 (9 months)
14. PKPj I Ja’afar Bin Mahad 01.01.2008 – 05.10.2008 (9 months)
15. P/TPj Moh Samsudin Bin Yusof 06.10.2008 – 17.06.2009 (8 months)
16. P/TPj Ja’afar Bin Mahad 18.06.2009 – sekarang

The MACC moved into Plaza Masalam on 1 August 2007. It is in the midst of developing its own office and quarters in Section 16 of Shah Alam.

LOL. After reading his article, is PROF DR KAMARUDDIN saying that MACC ppl having professionally taught by westerners, are godless, do not believe in the existence of Almighty Allah nor do they ever accept that there is a day of judgment after death. They know no meaning of sin. They are not afraid of accountability to Almighty Allah. That is why he request the National Fatwa Council to play an active role? At least that is he meant to me.

“The investigative procedures used by MACC were professionally taught by Westerners. And it is a fact that these Westerners are godless people. They do not believe in the existence of Almighty Allah nor do they ever accept that there is a day of judgment after death.” The letter by Prof Kamarudin is so naive and ideological. So the detah of an innoncent man will not only be turned to political attacks but also religious attacks against the so-called “Westerners” who are godless? How about the ones who bombed the Marriot and Ritz in Jakarta? Did they learn from the West… Read more »

Dear PROF DR KAMARUDDIN,

I support your call for a review of MACC procedures.

However, I do NOT support a Fatwa to be included because this is still a secular country govern by the Constitution.

We just need transparency NOT religious restrictions.

Salam.

Prof Dr Kamaruddin. Your name tells me you are a learned man and your article began well enough but by the time you finished you have shown everyone that you are just another narrow-minded racist… You condemn MACC’s action yet blame it on Westerners! Who are the people in MACC? … Why do you blame Westerners who have never even heard of MACC? You also say it is a fact that Westerners are godless people? How do you arrive at this “fact”? Who do you think you are? God’s chosen One on earth? There are Westerners who are Christians, Muslims,… Read more »

Dear Anil and Fellow Progressive Malaysians

The growth of any part of the “repressive state apparatus” is a threat to democracy.

(Repressive state apparatus = army, police, secret police, and in the case of Malaysia, supposedly non-partisan bodies that investigate corruption. Costa Rica abolished its army and they appear none the worse for it. Citizens of the Eastern European countries were really shocked by revelations of the extent of surveillance by the repressive Communist state after the secret police archives were opened)

infiltration crosses the mind when you hire by numbers and not quality.
it’s not about hiring ex-pdrm that causes the problem.
it is which one is already ‘neutralised’ or pre-disposed with attitudes or ‘ideas’.

Any on that list self-impotent RELA thugs?

And who were those plainclothes men with the PRDM officers who were over-zealously manhandling those unarmed protestors when dragging them away to be arrested from that People’s protest for Teo Beng Hock outside the MACC building? Were they cheap thugs from RELA too?

Is there an ACT/law that allows the PRDM to use such untrained civilian/volunteer support staff when engaging in normal policing activities?

Nazri, Muyhiddin, Zainul Ariffin, Selangor UMNO Youth, please read this : http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/7/20/focus/4352598&sec=focus Monday July 20, 2009 Fatwa needed on MACC procedures OUR nation is shocked by the death of a young man after he had undergone an interrogation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). It saddened us more as he was only a witness to assist the investigation and not even the accused. As a practising Muslim, my heart cried for justice as prescribed by our Holy Book of Islam, the Quran. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) taught us strict principles to imagine what would we feel… Read more »
