The Wall Street Journal has published what appear to be damning documents from a Malaysian government probe of bank tranfers of money into accounts in AmBank Islamic belonging to Najib.

Meanwhile, six bank accounts have been frozen.
It is difficult to see how Najib can extricate himself from this situation.
If this evidence is solid, then it raises all kinds of questions.
– Aren’t banks supposed to get account holders to declare to Bank Negara foreign deposits of more than RM50,000 into their account?
– Aren’t banks required to report to the compliance division of Bank Negara any unusually large deposits into or sizeable withdrawals within a short period from any bank account belonging to “politically exposed persons” e.g. senior politicians and members of Parliament.
– If the above documents are authentic, did the bank account holder and AmBank make any such report or declaration as required and if they did, what was Bank Negara’s response?
If it is true that a large amount of these transfers was for pre-election spending, then surely there is little choice but to declare the general election in 2013 null and void.

According to illustration more than US 600 millions goes into Ambank but no document evident of 40 million going into Affin Bank. See the notification or Instance Type Transmission. There is no signature or whatsoever. Anyone can simply print it out. And note the last authorization letter which refer to `CASH` deposit authorization which may have nothing to do with the transfer.
