Interfaith walk for peace, sustainable environment

Well before dawn on Sunday, 22 May, some 300 people of different faiths walked 5km from Hong Hock Si Temple in Perak Road to China Street Ghaut in George Town.

It was the first leg of an 850km ‘Journey of Awakening for Peace, Interfaith Harmony and a Sustainable Environment’ from Penang to Johor. See a report in The Star and the website for the journey.

Participants will collect rubbish including cigarette butts and plant trees during the journey. The next big stop is in Taiping.

Interfaith walk for peace and harmony co-existance in Penang is a good cause to pursue. A clean and peaceful environment is essential in present development pace of the Island state.

I will support any attempt for a peaceful Malaysia but when some side don`t come around I would not deemed it as interfaith. Interfaith and tolerance must come from all sides not just from some sides.
