Could someone please confirm if the Housing Trust Act 1950 is current law or if it has been repealed. Thanks.

If there is wrongdoing in the transfer, of course I would support action taken ! Maybe someone is confusing the duty of the state to help the poor own affordable housing with the right to squat on someone else’s land. The breaching of a contract entered into is madness (unless it is proven to involve wrongdoing in court, no less). And yes, should the tenants receive good grants of title, then they have to pay. So far, the questionable transfer is the only thing they have going for them, and it will not be easy to prosecute. Until that happens,… Read more »

First I occupy someone else’s land illegally
Then after a few years, I conveniently assume that it is mine
I then assume it is my right to stay on it forever
The government did not do anything, in fact they even provided me with water and electricity
Then the actual owner wanted it back
I said…no way…this is my land…pay me and I would move out
The owner, out of goodwill, decided to pay
I said not enough, pay me more…..

Only registered houses and only the owner of the house received compensation. The villagers demanded that all extended families, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, grandfathers, grandmothers, and tenants,in the house also to be compensated. They think that the developer is a charity and welfare organisations to give everything for free . The unregistered houses as they called it now are only cow sheds build for cows and they are demanding to be compesated. The descendands of this village today are no more cattle rearers. Some are professionals and some working with reasonable pay. Get your own houses.

Again the the Hindraf chief in London threatening the Penang Govt. and calling LGE Racist. Please be fair and don`t be so demanding. Don`t assume that LGE is Racist and pushibg the bug to his deputies. I am very disappointed with your approach to this problem. Can`t you damn well see who caused this problem and their motives. Things cannot be done overnight. There are laws and obstacles confronting LGE. There is now a months reprieve and just see what can be done. You seem to always threatening PKR, LGE, DAP etc. to change hindraf`s support. I think you and… Read more »

Dave, Have you ever had your home threatened to be bull dozed down? These so-called “sickening” people are the poor and down-trodden. I think you should be more restrained in your comments! These are the desperate and poor, terrified and seeking for someone, anyone to help them save their homes! They have nowhere else to go! It is only fair that current government of the day assist them in resolving this issue. LGE has to inherit the good and the bad. He should stop whining and start working. I think the people are quite tired about the BN bashing from… Read more »

The issue is current and it is in current government hands to resolve this. I hate to be in current government shoes but it is up to them to be able to resolve this with the Federal government. In a democratic country usually this can be resolved because state and Federal will try to be on the rakyat side but with BN as our Federal government they are more interested in screwing PR than helping rakyat. So, this is a chance for BN to show they have a heart after Chin Peng screw up, Kugan death screw up… However, I… Read more »

For those criticizing the PR Penang govt. just remember if this is the BN govt. do you think the villagers will be able to see the DCM with their grouses? Or will the bulldozers be moving in backed by police and FRU? The problem is created by the BN govt and all the mess thrown to the PR govt. The villagers should not think they are kings just because they voted PR. The state govt is trying to help them but they are being very rude and demanding. The Penang govt must act within the law or they are no… Read more »

HINDRAF must not threaten but find out who is the real culprit. I am not an indian but I support the Indian cause 100%. LGE will definately do something but please you HINDRAF people please realise the that PKR is for equality for all races. As for this problem I simpatise but don`t you worry Justice will prevail in the end. Right now, BN & Gerakan (KTK) motive is to cause discontent and hope the Indians go back to BN So Hindraf , be strong and let LGE find a way. This the S*** that LGE has to clean.

They are barking up the wrong tree. It was the previous state govt who sold their land. They should be demonstrating outside Gerakan’s office!
