new-year-2009-043

Malaysians are ushering New Year tonight, making the most of the start of what will be a difficult year ahead. Jobs are likely to be lost as the economy slows or even sinks into a recession. In the meantime, we are entering an equally uncertain period of political transition.

Still, amidst all the gloom, perhaps it would not be too much to hope that we can come up with creative, sustainable solutions to empower workers and marginalised communities and to transform the economy, promoting social justice and self-sufficiency while protecting the environment.I wish all of you a very happy new year and peace and blessings in the coming year. I know you may not always agree with me but I hope this blog encourages a rational discussion of the issues that matter and we can continue to learn from one another despite our differences of opinion.

These are my wishes for you in 2009… May peace and love break into your house. May thieves come to steal only your debts away. May your pockets be magnets for only RM/$/etc 100 (or more) notes. May laughter assault you on your lips (with every sip or swing of hip) May happiness slap you in your face (with enough grace to make you amazed) May your tears be that of sheer joy (without any ploy to be deployed) May all your health problems be snatched away by the time you finish reading this sms… AND May 2009 BE THE… Read more »

BELT UP OR ELSE…

When you’re in a car you better wear your seat-belt
To avoid getting a ‘belting’ with fine and prison
And to see your precious financial resource melt
All because of better road safety as the official reason

Nice fireworks on top… Penang is still very dirty down there. Today’s article in The Star on the negative comments of the tourists to Penang vindicated the statement by Tourism Minister Azalina Osman. Happy New Year to all Penangites, let us not throw rubbish everywhere, can or not?

While you people in Bolehland have many things to complain about, you have not ponder to count your blessings. You are too negative. Look things at the positive angle. When compared to our southern neighbour, Singapore, we are truly very fortunate indeed. While Singapore continues to add up more world-class achievements to their laurels, this is normal and expected. Anything that is predictable is not exciting. Life needs to be unpredictable and full of fun. In Singapore everything is so clinical, tidy and well-oiled; and mind you, there are many things that Singaporeans cannot do that the denizens in Bolehland… Read more »

How very true, there is nothing much to celebrate. The global financial crisis has certainly put a dent of a promising year. Retrenchment and unemployment will increase, as we enter deeper into the new year. Malaysia is not immune to this crisis, may even, goes into recession. What measure has this UMNO-BN administration done so far to counter this unavoidable problem and to boost the economy…so far NOTHING! Still playing politics and revealing just half truth to the nation, it is a joke. In Australia, with a relative strong economy for the past few years, has now predicted a rise… Read more »
