The authorities obviously don’t want to expose students to critical views on government policies. In that sense, they are restricting the space for freedom of expression even within campus. Politicians who are supportive of government policies, on the other hand, don’t seem to face similar restrictions.
The GST, a regressive tax, is deeply unpopular with the rakyat. Could it, along with 1MDB and Tabung Haji, be the straw that breaks the camel’s back?
When university students are not trained to think critically, the quality of higher education suffers and will continue to erode.

Critical thinking skills has never been promoted in the school curriculum under BN in order for students to grow up ikut perintah. Logical thinking is certainly lacking as evident in the drop in the OECD ranking in maths and science capability that is lower than the Vietnamese!
