The global event yesterday came two months after the largest international climate demonstration ever.

Over 1,600 cities in 125 countries witnessed climate strikes on Friday, 24 May. Activists around the world feel that the situation is so urgent that governments should acknowledge the climate crisis.

Once again Penang leads – with probably the only event in Malaysia coinciding with the second global strike yesterday.

Young activists from Klimate Action Utara Malaysia (Kaum) joined pupils from the Sungai Ara Tamil Primary School and a few other children to call for greater ecological awareness and climate justice now. Full article on Aliran website

Car pollution contributes significantly to climate change, which results from a buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels in cars releases carbon dioxide, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the modern cities.

Anil does not want to antagonize Penang motorists, and has to date never attributes the climate change due primarily to carbon excesses in atmosphere.Penang air quality is getting worse with CO2 and CO, and we hope the locals can heed. The advices from CAP’s crusader SM Idris.

One lane of the road is usually used for parking. Just look at the roads leading to most housing estates or condominium s.

Dr M: Malaysia to use Huawei technology as much as possible. By investing more, the East has improved the products and the world must accept that new reality, he said. “I understand Huawei has a tremendous advantage over American technology. But if you want to have a situation where you are always ahead and when you are not ahead I will ban you and send warships to your country, that is not a competition, that is threatening people and that is not the approach to use. “As much as (before) we expected everything from the West, now it is coming… Read more »

Donald Ducky Trumpeter can’t accept The Competitive Advantage of Nations (read this book by Michael E. Porter) esp. The Big Dragon: The Future of China: What It Means for Business, the Economy, and the Global Order (by Daniel Burstein). He still thinks the world’s his now defunct reality show ‘The Apprentice’. He arrogantly believes he can still shout “You are fired” but not to China who is way ahead of this game of kiasu competitive advantage. Ironically, it’s the US who thro’ UN + World Bank arm-twisted China to open up her economy, colonised productions to produce cheaply for global… Read more »

Time to read Le Piège Américain, or The American Trap, that was written by Frenchman Frederic Pierucci, a former executive with French rail transport company Alstom, about his five-year-long tussle with the US Department of Justice.

The book mirrors in some ways what happened to Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou, who was detained in Vancouver on December 1, and is out on bail and facing extradition to the US on allegations of helping defraud banks to circumvent US sanctions on Iran.

Who says NGOs are the ones to protest against degradation of our fragile planet Earth? Even school children nowadays are aware of such great harms to our environment, better than those who have nothing good for Mother Earth but shriek at the slightest eco-care or he-he-he 24/7/365. Thanks to concerned parents, enlightened schools & social media. My salutes to these Penang eco-children who will lead our country into a sustainable future for all. Hope our Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin will do as much (if not more) as these Penang eco-children for abused-since-308 Penang & not just ‘lawat, kong song… Read more »

Must know what’s fake manufactured news. Youngsters dont get polluted by irresponsible social media news. Mind dont get corrupted by playing excessive online games. Parents and teachers must guide youngsters to read more physical books not short exchanges on social media platforms. Do more self examination not too engrossed with selfie photographing. Penang children should not admire in awe the high rise buildings like Forest City but must realize the environmental and social implications good or bad. For every car introduced on the road then may be plant 10 more trees by roadside not obstructing pedestrians but to absorb carbon… Read more »
