This is what Pulau Jerejak might look like in a few years

There goes Jerejak Island. This is what “Queens Island Condo & Villa” on the eco-heritage haven of Pulau Jerejak will look like, according to the Ideal Property website.

Perhaps they think that the Queens Island (rather than Pulau Jerejak Condo and Villa) sounds more “canggih” and would appeal more to high-end buyers .

Apparently, the plan is to connect Jerejak Island by a four-lane bridge to Penang Island which will land in the vicinity of Queensbay Mall.

These plans are afoot despite the National Heritage Department showing interest in a joint Unesco heritage listing of Pulau Jerejak and Sungai Buloh for their historical significance as settlements for people with leprosy.

Land reclamation is presently underway along the coast at Queensbay Mall for another Ideal project to build the RM2.7bn “Queens Residence”. The blocks, ranging from 22 storeys to 30 storeys, will contain 3,600 homes on 36 acres (including 25 acres of reclaimed land).

The Queens Residences at Queensbay project

Ideal Property Development Sdn Bhd has a 20% stake in SRS Consortium. The consortium is supposed to be the “project delivery partner” for the controversial RM46bn “Penang Transport Master Plan”, which involves 4,500 acres of land reclamation. The plan is to create three artificial islands (for mainly high-end housing) off the southern coast of Penang Island, an important source of livelihood for a few thousand fisher folk.

Still a Degil Arrogant Party (DAP) in Penang.
Anil, this Pulau Jerejak development will go ahead, like the one at Peel Avenue.
Only God / Karma can bring the DAP down to its knees of realisation of what it’s been doing wrong.
Land Contra for Development (via swap deals) is King in Pulo Pinang.
CM Sin Chow, you may have only one term to stay arrogant.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has refuted a claim by heritage groups here that Pulau Jerejak’s name has been changed to “Queens Island.”

He said ‘Queens Island’ is merely the name of a development being built on Pulau Jerejak.

So repugnant of a richie neighbour taking advantage of cheap commodity in the 21st century:

With rising living costs, PM slams ‘ridiculous’ price of water to S’pore
https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/464395
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today that while living costs continue to rise, at least one thing has remained at a “ridiculously low” price.

Speaking at the launch of the National Community Policy in Puchong, Mahathir drew parallels between the prices of affordable homes in Malaysia to raw water being sold to Singapore at three sen per 1,000 gallons…
