Public talk in Penang: It’s time for Bersih!
In an online posting, Catholic Bishop Paul urged Malaysians to take part in the rally and “to claim [Malaysia] back from destructive leaders”. Bishop Paul, who is head of the Catholic Church’s Malacca-Johor diocese, said that taking part in Bersih was a citizen’s right and not a matter of party politics, not of supporting BN nor the divisive opposition. “Tell the politicians to grow up” Bishop Paul said. ‘Chimes of Freedom’ is a Bob Dylan protest song that uses imagery from natural disasters, like wind, lightning and hurricanes, to tell a bigger story. Bob Dylan’s song ‘Blowing In The Wind’ was the subject of a homily by Pope John Paul II, the only time a pop song had prompted such a sermon.
