You may have heard of the term ‘yellow journalism’.
Wikipedia describes ‘yellow journalism’ as follows:
Yellow journalism or the yellow press is a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers.[1] Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism.[1] By extension “Yellow Journalism” is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.
Campbell (2001) defines Yellow Press newspapers as having daily multi-column front-page headlines covering a variety of topics, such as sports and scandal, using bold layouts (with large illustrations and perhaps color), heavy reliance on unnamed sources, and unabashed self-promotion…
In short, lots of ‘scandals’ and sensationalism but short on research, substance or analysis.

Then why we use yellow for our press freedom ribbon, huh?
Ah, itu Utusan Meloya!
Yellow journalism has been bastardized in this country not to sell more newspapers but to serve a regime’s political interest. Sickening.
Only with the help of selective prosecution.
That’s how BN via its MSM resurrected the communist bogey and concocted the myth of waging war against the king and hoped that these ludicrous accusations will stick. We all know that the accusations are far-fetched and come across as scandalous and out-right lies.
In the meantime, BN is spending millions yearly in home renovation to make PM and DPM live comfortably while the poor are losing ability to buy their own home.
Is it something like this!…”Mongolian lass blown to pieces…”
RPK already surrender in this issue. Want to spin again huh ???
RPK, surrender, nice mix of words…for a mixed up person.
Name the special Mongolian whose name the (authorities) have decided you cannot mention. It’s a trick question.
CW Wong of The Star cukup pedih sebab artikel-artikelnya memang berunsur “journalism kuning” – berat sebelah dan kurang dalam semata mata untuk sensasi on the beat.
Apa itu? Saya tahu-ler, ni…unabashed self-promotion.
This description reminds me of something. Has to do with Hollywood, evening, ratings, someone called Wong…
Why you accuse all people with Wong surname ??? Is that your ex-girl/ex-boy friend surname ??? …
Nice of you to reply. I was beginning to think you were ignoring me.
Accuse of? Sorry, not getting you. And I’m sorry, never dated any Wongs, male or female, present or past, tall or short…get my meaning?
Oh, I forgot Bollywood.
We need a new term here in Malaysia, Yellow-speak – its simple term, its political-trash talk that comes from absolute power and knowing they don’t have to be accountable for it. All these excuses that there is hidden agenda with Bersih, its funded by Christians, PSM are communists, War against Agung, etc..
Agree. Yellow Talk. King of Yellow Talk is Ibrahim Ali.
Actually no. Its Najib and Hishamuddin. Ibrahim Ali is being accountable for what he says, its the system fault that lets him say so. Najib and Hishamuddin is in charge of the system..They have no excuse..
