In a step closer towards a two-coalition system in Sarawak, Sarawak Pakatan has come up with a 16-member shadow cabinet for the state.
In 2009, the Pakatan announced a shadow cabinet of sorts at the national level. See Teresa Kok’s blog. I am not sure if it is still functioning or whether folks like Zahrain and Zulkifli Nordin have been replaced!
But the proposal for a shadow cabinet in Sarawak is a positive development for the opposition alliance.

Ting on agriculture, when the fundamental issue in Sarawak is smallholder agriculture and the way it has been sidelined, marginalised, put down. That requires someone with great familiarity with rural and interior Sarawak.
And Chew on rural development? Chew’s seat sits astride SCORE, and he would appear to be the natural choice for industrial development and environment — for SCORE threatens to bring in dirty industries (one may be tolerable, but three aluminium smelters, all pouring out fluorides into the atmosphere and effluents into the sea).
And Ali Biju on religious affairs and national unity? There he is in Krian, site of one of the earliest Salcra developments. Come on!

Is UMNO and MCA saying that only a Malay can represent the Malays and only a Chinese can represent the Chinese? If that is what they are thinking then it is more reason to evict them out of Putrajaya. Malaysians, regardless of race, should and can be represented by anybody regardless of race. So you have finally revealed that 1Malaysia is a bluff…..
Good move, at least all the elected opposition YBs will be entrusted with individual job responsibilities to look after the rakyat woes.
They must also have twice monthly meetings to make their report to trash-out and resolve rakyat problems as well as brain-storming sessions to find ways and means to improve their election pledges.

To give people like you some moral lessons, like don’t gamble.
In the meantime, BN is actively trying to destabilise Pakatan:
1) Umno courting PAS
2) CSL threathening Chinese for voting for DAP
3) Daily dosage of sex videos on mainstream press and media to embarass PKR leadership.
But, our hearts are still with Pakatan. Nice try, BN.
Why need the Religious Affairs department ???
As an alternative to Jakim, to enforce anti-corruption laws.

This is a positive development for PR….a taste for the newly elected assemblymen to behave and expect when the time for them to take charge of the Sarawak Administration. Learning to be a responsible govt is not simply plucking it from the air, those selected young talents should recognize the failings of the PBB govt and most importantly, those found engaged in corrupt practices should never be defended but, punished severely…this will ensure the PR govt a second term!
