Perfect! And probably a first in the history of Malaysia. These will be the safest candidates to vote for. Also perhaps a monthly declaration or even transparent account via Public Accounts Committee? @Sean has some good points though. For an expanded start, how about making MPs and Assemblyperson’s transparent personal and immediate family daily expenditures an open issue as well? Don’t say this is Orwellian, 222 MPs shouldn’t be a difficult task for the doubtless 1000s of people under surveillance for any reason or other as of now. After all if TERM LIMITS are also applied, this ‘lack of privacy’… Read more »

If Taib were to declare his assets … he may need reams of papers…

Their declaration is very brief; cars, house, savings etc what about household items, shares, collections or value of their partnership in business and inheritance. No mention?

There are two issues with declarations of assets – one is how deeply it assesses a person’s wealth and interests and the other is how truthfully it has been completed. The first determines how useful the document is as a check on corruption. In my view Selangor PR would have been better off pretending they’d never heard of asset declarations rather than implement the farcical version they use now – it just doesn’t go anywhere near revealing whether your representative is acting in their own interests (granting permissions to companies they hold shares in or otherwise benefit from). The second… Read more »

I’m interested to see how the PSM bods do at the next GE. They’re just about the only ones who don’t seem to determine their every act by how much the outcome will benefit them personally. I think they should take it on the chin if people just don’t vote for them: if honesty, transparency and public decency just aren’t winning votes for them they can always add an erect finger to their flag, enter into some nasty corporate sponsorship arrangements and re-cast themselves as Porki Skumbeg Malaysia for GE14. I wonder if they’d win more votes that way.

PSM will not win much votes even with their honesty. Its how you cheat. lie and deceit just like UMNO…

And most important thing is to buy votes. It can be done in the ulu but in not in urban. Why dont these (in the) ulu please wake up.

Just two points:

1) Lie and deceit also need brain power. Talking about brain power, I think PKR and DAP issue in Sarawak already demonstrated that they are lacking of it. Agree or not ???

2) Who knows if they disclose all assets ???

Like UMNO when you have a lot you don’t disclose all.
Its only when you have none that you will disclose all.
