This is something I wrote in the wake of the defections from PKR of late:
The defections of PKR elected reps are a blow for democracy in Malaysia, but in the long-run they will provide timely lessons for all concerned.
At the last general election, many Malaysians chose to express their disgust with the BN over pervasive corruption, human rights abuses, economic hardship and the politics of divide-and-rule.
No doubt people voted for the party rather than the person, based on certain principles.
It may not be wrong in a parliamentary representative to defect to another party – provided such defections are based on conscience over a matter of principle and in the people’s interests. But if defections are based on enticements or inducements or expectations of personal reward, then that is surely wrong and unethical.

Gerakan K, Zul is an opportunist and nothing else. He should have known that PKR is a multiracial party when he join it and so if he want to defend Islam he should have join some other party like UMNO or PAS. He did not. He has not only betrayed the party and the people, he has betrayed himself. Zahrain reason is (the) RM2.00 company was not awarded the Bukit Jambul 40 million award. Tan Tee Beng, just like his father he is also an opportunist. If he has no fund there are also many other ways to help his… Read more »
Yang,
no one pay me to post comments here. Just be a little practical my friend. You think BN is so generous to everyone ???
Hello blog owner,
if you write this article during the height of 16th September, 2008 then you earn my respect.
But it was too late to mean anything.
Zul reason: PKR handling of “allah” issue
Zahrain, Tan reason: cannot agree with the rocket way of management, no fund for constituents development
Gerakan K, The fact is the Rakyat trusts the ruling Governments in Selangor and Penang more than Zahrain, Nibong Tebal and Zulkifli! Know where has Zahrain been lately? What did he do while overseas? Where is NT? Also overseas! Zulkifli and Mohsin are the protector of (the term) “Allah”? Because Allah is too weak and needs his protection? Crazy is it not? Really, this is an excellent article, again, I am not pro Anil and anti Gerakan K, ok? I am here to learn from someone from the other school of thoughts and I find your comments both interesting and… Read more »
I accept defections or cross-overs as part of democracy. However, anyone holding ADUN or MP status and defects should automatically be striped of their position and a by-election must be held again. Politicians voted in by the Rakyat should uphold the principles and aspiration of the Rakyat. If they jump ship, let them take it back to the Rakyat to see if they also believe in the same principles as him. They should automatically lose all priviliges that comes with the position, including the Rakyat-sponsored pension. It will make them think long & hard about playing with the people’s votes… Read more »
And Ibrahim Ali was supposed to be the champions of the Malays/Islam fighting against the Chinese, but, reportedly, he had been (working) with Vincent Tan, as usual without the knowledge of the Kampung Malays! Does this guy really care a damn about those poor kampung folks? And Zahrain, reportedly have to spend so much and he inevitably needs to “jump” like a frog to BN, but then, he said he is doing so to defend his race and religion! Just why are all the UMNO warlords screwing the Malays? For those who might not have read this article, I attach… Read more »
O,
how can you listen to the repetitive laws breaker + the most wanted people in Malaysia ??? Again, you have taken the message from your master.
