1. You demonstrated lack of knowledge in Management. When a newly appointed manager takes over in office, the 1st few months are trying to grasps the organizations of offices, its people and big issues like PGCC before going down the ‘fields’. LGE would be also doing just that, tackling priority issues first.
When the final payment was done 19 days after 308 how would LGE know and also its the normal operations of payment – LGE does not take care of minor activities like payments in civil offices! Dont tell me you know what time your kid goes do his ‘big business’ in the toilet today? You dont right!?
2. LGE did stood by and still stand by the KBP-squatters, even though they verbally abused LGE with all kind of verbal-diarrhoe that disgust every fair minded people. What have KTK,BN,MIC,MCA, HIndraf done for them? Dilch except making negative vibes like you.
3. So OngEuSoon, please publish up your handphone, email, address so that all the people in Malaysia who face similar eviction problem, can easily get hold of you to solve their problem. Once you settle the same kind of issue, then I am sure all fair minded people will SALUTE YOU and REVER YOUR NOBLE CAPABILITY.
Probably then we will not need PR or BN anymore and get you to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Ong Eu Soon, I can understand your feeling. You are jealous because people get fixed asset worth RM500 for free, but you still need to serve your bank housing loan every month. You are jealous on PKR govt able to negotiate with developer for this deal but your BN govt unable to do anything previouly for more than 50 years. Your are jealous on PKR can give the house title to most of the Perakian but your BN govt only those top head like Khir Toyo able to buy ‘bunga-lo’.
Thanks SOS for your proposed ways forward.
What is happening at KBP may be development, but it is not progress – each action like this slips a country further back from attaining its goal of developed nation status – its time to rethink.
Ong, kalau LGE made an honest mistake, I say we move on and that he doesn’t make the SAME MISTAKE twice.
Pakatan and BN must always “listen to the people”.
There is a danger that there are those that intentionally ignore and continue making the same mistakes over and over again. Only time can tell. Let’s wait and see what other stupid blunders by Penang CM Lim Guan Eng to add to his contribution list in Malaysian history.
Not everyone can be Lee Kuan Yew .
High Chaparral
The bulldozers came
Demolition begins
It has to go
The footprints of an enclave
Developments and money
Greed to get more of it
When you don’t have a good title
You can’t negotiate in strong terms
You are at the goodwill
The owners of the land
Fighting it will not get anywhere
Blaming Pakatan Rakyat
A cheap shot to highlight your woes
It is the previous Bee Anne leaders
They sold the land
And the residents kept quiet
Until they knew it was too late
The name will be in history
Tracing the disappearance of villages gone
The residents can’t argue anymore
You once voted many times for Bee Anne
Now the sorrow of losing your village
Developers have no hearts and souls
It is wealth creation they wanted most
Give them that they will always please you
They have the money and resources
You don’t so the marginalization begin
High Chaparral and those gone before
The villages suffered the same fate
Developments and cronies make
Wealth creation in the hands of a few
High Chaparral
You bite the dust
The memory will stay
For those who once are with you
Anil,
I got to agree with all the outcome of the probes including the Kampung Buah Pala must be made known as soon as possible.
However, using that as the pretext that these villagers would be staying there forever would be “Castle in the Air”. Fairy Tale dream!
Anil,
Like it or not. It’s Economy, Stupid! Eng Soon, you hear me! It’s Economy! It’s economical benefits to developers to develop the land. It’s also economical benefits to villagers to secure the best deal possible.
Anil,
The problem was these villagers refused to be realistic. One good analogy is Arab Isreali conflict during the late 40s. The UN partition of jewish and arab settlements. Jewish accepted in principle. The Arabs did not. The Arabs attack the Jews. The rest is history!
Anil,
How to have sympathy when my grandad got nothing from total destruction in Kuala Kangsar. There are plenty incidents that people get nothing. It’s Economy! It’s Greed! Because of that, the villagers lost everything. Too bad! Anil.
Hi Eagle Eye and others who are critical of the PR govt. Lets talk facts. If you think this KBP issue is the blunder of LGE PR govt. Than I can name you a few bigger blunders by BN GOVT….PKFZ, ISA, Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan, BMF scandal etc. You name me another blunder by PR govt….and I can easily give you a few other big BN blunders… . So who is the bigger devil???? Dont simply shoot. Nobody is perfect. At least LGE tried to get this TOL residents a comfortable home when most of us penangites only live in apartments.
Why isn’t anyone pointing the guns at KTK? He should in fact be answer to this. Good deal has been lost due to ignorance from the KBP rep or maybe the people got disillussioned with the DPM before the Permatang Pasir elections, even dare to accuse LGE for doing nothing on the case. So stop … about LGE after what he has done for the resident of KBP!!! He’s not your fall guy to begin with. Just wait for your DPM and his slogans.
1. It all started as to who is the owner of the land:
KBP said it’s theirs but no proof
Koperasi showed proof of purchase. It’s theirs.
Verdict (albeit bias) the Court ruled against KBP.
2. What should be done:
KBP wanted LGE to show proof of fraudulant – hence reverse sale of land.
KBP wanted land back. To preserve as heritage.
KBP wanted assurance and clear road-map of 2-stry compensation.
DAP wanted fair compensation to KBP – but what it thinks fair may not be fair to others.
LGE cannot/dont want to show proof of fraudulant – figures you cannot ask for compensation on one hand and be against Developer. LGE has choice of (perhaps) to pursue court case or negotiate a fair deal for KBP.
LGE banged on compensation and to some did the right thing, to others wrong (depending on the first thing above – a 2-stry for nothing you own is like striking lottery, but to be compensated with just a house for a piece of land is day-light robbery.)
3. Other political parties, Hindraf, etc – opportunities to hantam current State admin. But most people acknowledge LGE may not do well/right here, but did a billion times better than it would be if BN still in power.
4. Other less prone to development activist like Anil here and KB Ong – questions development in general, banged on promises by DAP (who never thought they can really inherit this problem) about the preservation and human rights. But offer no real practical legal-free solution really. The objective is to conservation and preservation – which is not a bad thing considering the condition of mother Earth now. Sorry – got solution – but having it will be legally cumbersome.
So guys, there should be enough of this discussion already. It starts from who you think is the owner of the land. If it was KBP, even each family given two lots of bungalow is pittance exchange for a piece of prime land. If it wasn’t KBP to start with, a small apartment for a family is many times better compensation than a BN government would have done.
The question is who has the final say/authority on this – the owner of the land? Most would say the court – they have spoken – but (the perception among many is) they are biased. So who?
At the end of the day, come GE13, if KBP folks would vote for BN because they think of this one incident, that they think BN would have done better – that’s their opinion and their right. Most people still think that LGE didnt do too badly – and we are grateful for good citizen journalism like Anil here reporting – we will make our decision come GE13.
It is absolutely clear now the poor village folks had been seriously and badly exploited by those who had their own interests at hand, rather than those of the KBP folks. To those who had accepted the deal brokered by the state Government, congratulations and well done. You deserve what you get, and a 500k double storey home for free is something most Malaysians can dream of. Forget whether you are the legal owner of the land, forget about who is right or wrong, what is important is that you are amply rewarded for your prudence and wisdom.
To those with political connections, let us see what your politcal masters can do for you. MIC from the beginning is into the fray to bolster their faltering influence, if any. What have they promised the KBP folks and what have the KBP folks got in return? Uthayakumar? Well, folks, Indians Malaysians brothers, forget about this man. Remember he had set up his own politcal party, at best a mosquito party, that is not capable of winning any seat in any elections in the country. Is he the same Uthayakumar who fought relentlessly for you all pre and post ISA? He is now resorting to play the role of the spoil guy, and spin master.
He knows what is the rightful thing for the KBP folks but he thought of using the KBP issues to highlight his fight for the Indian communities to greater heights so that he will be appreciated by the BN. Has the ISA detention “turnover” this guy? Be rationale, the issue is solved and done. There is no going back for the developers and the KBP folks, to those who had benefitted by taking the RM8,000 and a 500K double storey house, congratulations once again and well done, to those who have better cables, God Bless You.
Think about it, would you get anything if this State is under the previous BN Government? Think about it and be rationale. If LGE had not invoked the Order to stop any form of development on the land, would the KBP folks be compensated at all? Would Koh Tsu Koon have the guts to invoke the order and go against his political masters? The answer is clear for all to see.
Well done, LGE, well done for washing your hands off, or you will surely be trapped by the BN hunters. This shows you are a step ahead of the BN.
Concentrate on bringing better development for the State and its people. Plan for better employment opportunities for Penangnites by attracting FDI. Scrap all hill slopes development approved by the previous Government, as mother nature will have its final say, only time will tell. Bring more greeneries to the Penang folks by greening the environment and stay away from developers who are trying to stick to you like a leech.
//You name me another blunder by PR govt….and I can easily give you a few other big BN blunders… . So who is the bigger devil????//
Penangite,
Is PR competing with BN on the number and scale of blunders? You are pathetic.
This isnt about the size of the devil . We dont want devils! that is why the BN was booted out.
This is about what the DAP promised and didnt deliver. This is about what the PR govt could have done which it didnt do. Why is LGE refusing to declassify the Exco minutes after March2008. What happened to the investigation into the land fraud which LGE himself alleged? What is LGE hiding?
For the record the villagers won the case in the High Ct. The moment the land title was transfered they lost the case in the Ct of Appeal and Federal Ct. It was the PR govt that deprived them of the land.
I am not here to contradict your statements or to dwell further on a matter that had been solved and done! What is the point of crying over spilt milk?
Just be magnanimous enough to congratulate the KBP folks who had agreed to the compensation done by the PR Government. Again, I request you to think whether the KBP folks would have got this extremely lucrative offer of compensation if the state is under the BN?
Since you are “mind set” that the PR Govt. had not kept their promise, well, please fight for the KBP folks, through your better channels. Please let the KBP folks have their peace of mind. Do not dirty the water which is already murky, with your incorrect assesment of the whole issue. The thing is you cannot claim something that does not belong to you. The demolition had started, those who had been compensated are satisfied with the RM8,000 and a 500k house, so let the issue rest.
To those who still harbour hopes of a better deal of perhaps a 3.5 million mansion/compensation, please continue to cling on to the last straw and this instance, is being offered by eagle-eye. What we read and what we understand from the actions, there is rule of law, and the rule of law, had infact taken place with the demolition exercise. Everything is clear now and there is no going back either for the developer or those KBP folks who had not taken up the offer.
Enough of the blame game, for those KBP folks who had not taken up the PR Government offer, you got to live by your actions! I wish you all the best and may the developer reconsider and compensate each and everyone of the KBP folks who had been exploited, left, right and centre. I hope that they will wake up and realized that they had given up an opportunity to take up the State brokered compensation. Perhaps eagle-eye can do something for the KBP folks, and if you have the cable and influence please do so for the remnants of the KBP folks. Good Luck!
There is no denying the fact that there are a whole lot of people out there who are envious and jealous of the good fortunes of the KBP Folks who had been compensated with RM 8,000 and a 500K house, brokered by the State led PR Government.
Who in their wildest dreams would think that such a compensation can be brokered by a State Government for the Rakyat? This is unheard of in the history of Malaysia, but it had been done by the PR Government for the Rakyat. This is what we want where the interests of the Rakyat are attended to, and not swept under the carpet, like many issues affecting the marginalized Indian community. The issues of Maika and a whole lot is still hanging in the air and these are issues that MIC Youths and Uthayakumar should focussed on and not be envious of the good fortunes of the KBP folks.
There are many out there who are devils in disguised, whose aim is to destroy the good luck that had been given to the KBP folks. Their mentality is “If I do not get it, you do not either”.
For Goodness sake, please, let the issue rest and let the KBP folks continue with their daily lives. They are innocent people and do not exploit them further. Look at other places to show your displeasure at, not their good fortunes, do not focus on them. Please set them free to make their own decisions.
1Malaysia for all Malaysians! A Malaysia without malice and malicious people who are exploiting the KBP folks.
Dear Anil,
I read that now KBP problem is now settled – the KBP residents decided to take up the dbl-storey house and $8000. My wishes – all the best to them in their new residence (temporary and future).
I am wondering about the cows and goats, chicken and duck. Perhaps you can advise them to VERY POLITELY talk to LGE-govt for renting/using a piece of unused land for the birds and cattle to graze? Just think logically, who’s the ‘boss’ behind the developer that bought this piece of land with dirt cheap price, you think KBP’s folk will really get help from them ….
OngEuSoon – I pity your IQ capability.
