A more meaningful set of asset declarations – this time from the elected reps of Parti Sosialis Malaysia.

Simple – just one sheet of paper for each rep – but the disclosures tell you a lot more than the Selangor exco’s.

Download/open the disclosures (in .pdf format) from here.

The main drawback of the PSM disclosures, however, is they do not include the assets and income of the respective spouses and children. This is something the party should rectify.

What about the other Pakatan state governments/political parties?

  3. Well, we wouldn’t expect anything less if you claim to be a socialist party.

There’s an episode of the eighties British sitcom Yes Minister called The Moral Dimension, viewable on youtube.

It pretty much sums up this topic.

  7. Well,
Yes Minister & Yes, Prime Minister are good political sitcoms that educate ins & outs of politics
You see, not only we need to face the oppositions but also the civil service. Perak incident is one good example

    Anil,
Hence, the call of Jeff Ooi’s far better. Extend to even HOD of town councils. Why just stop at PR? Yes, it’s inadequate but it’s a first step.
Are you hoping for a Jim hacker’s victory over civil servant. Just watch “Big Brother”. I love the delaying techniques by Humphrey

  8. Spot on!

I think the disclosures should be made even before they YBs are elected. Asset disclosure at the candidacy stage would prevent any sharp increases. This should also extend to immediate family members.

Proxies are a way of getting around such disclosures… any ideas?

  9. With the poor security situation in the nation, making a full and permanent public asset disclosure is not the wisest move. I am supportive of the declaration with effect from taking office. Those who say this should be the price for taking public office may indirectly be discouraging the wealthy from participating.
