Here’s a refreshing antidote to the racial and religious controversies of late: the ‘Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia’ roadshow reached Ipoh on Saturday.
Photos by Jong
Over a hundred Perakians turned up to listen to speakers such as Azmi Sharom and Haris Ibrahim who peppered their talks with humour.
The speakers successfully drove home the message that Malaysians can no longer afford to turn a blind eye to what is going on around them.
When is the road show in KL or Selangor?
Would love to drop by and be part of SABM

You have to hand it to Haris Ibrahim, Azmi Sharon, Art Harun for turning this into something very substantial. These are the people that will change this nation..

Another attempt to erase my identity. There is no such thing as Bangsa Malaysia. There are Bangsa Melayu, Cina, India, etc. Stop this nonsense now…

Gerakan K,
Dude… it depends on your definition of “Bangsa”.
Race? Heritage? Ethnicity? Nationality?
It’s too often misused and politicised, no??
SABM is trying to diffuse this.
No one can ever deny the multi-ethnicity of Malaysia.
Malay, Chinese, Indian, Punjabi, Iban, Kadazan, Bidayu, Siamese…. there are OVER 100+ (forgive me for not listing all) of us around, not to mention “mixed” from cross-marriages.
But what SABM is trying to do is say “we are all Malaysians, first!” Nationality, identity… in the name of unity… and agaisnt discrimination in terms of so-called race, class, creed etc…
We are all born equal and should have equal rights.
We are all citizens of this country and we should fight to keep our rights… and the people should decide how and who runs the country.
That’s the basis of SABM..
Nobody an take away your identity, even if they try!
But they can use it against one another… and THAT has got to stop!
may I suggest you attend some of our roadshows and lets have further constructive discussions..
