Raja Petra’s Malaysia Today site has gone down after a few exposes were posted on the site outlining cases of alleged corruption.

A statement from the Aliran exco:

RPK’s detention is unjust as it denies him his democratic right to defend himself. He should have been charged in open court in relation to the earlier charges made against him under the Sedition Act. By resorting to the ISA, his innocence can no longer be proven. This is indeed undemocratic, unjust and un-Islamic. Full statement: Release Raja Petra and retract show-cause letters

The Cabinet has ordered the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) to reinstate access to all blocked websites including Malaysia Today, according to The Star online. It quoted Energy, Water and Communications Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor.

SKMM had instructed  ISPs to block Malaysia Today in August.

Surprise, surprise, guess who disagrees with the move to block Malaysia Today? Khairy!

In the latest entry on his blog he says:

In defence of those who despise me

No other website has caused me as much bad rep and deliberately destroyed my character as Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s Malaysia Today. Yet I cannot help disagreeing with the recent move by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block access to the site. Such blatant and crude employment of State power is inconsistent with the widening of the democratic space – an approach the current Administration adopted long before the 12th General Election…
