The following statement was released with the launch of Harapan Baru at a hotel in KL yesterday. What do you think? Does it really bring about new hope? I believe this new entity/movement provides a platform for a more enlightened, inclusive and progressive alternative to Pas’ increasingly conservative approach to Islam and its bewildering rapprochement with Umno. That can’t be a bad thing for the country; in fact, it is a movement whose time has come.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

1. Perkembangan mutakhir negara sangat meresahkan.

Sekian. Wassalam.

Mohamad Bin Sabu

Pengerusi
GERAKAN HARAPAN BARU

  1. Anwar Ibrahim has announced the formation of a “strengthened coalition”, which will include PAS’ splinter group Gerakan Harapan Baru.

“We are working towards a strengthened coalition and will work with all progressive movements including NGOs such as Bersih, Abim, Ikram and newly formed Gerakan Harapan Baru.

“This coming together of a wide range of groups committed to reform and change will offer a genuine democratic and just alternative to the rakyat.

  2. Sometime I wonder what Gerakan Harapan Baru are they actually talking about. Sore loser that lost in the election suddenly come out to form another party. This shows that they are not fighting for the ideals of the party but themselves. They could have wait another 5 years to unseat the Ulama. These are just oppourtunist….

  3. The Edge has reported that Fatty Low and Petro Saudi Limited cheated Malaysia of US$1.83B cash. It is the tax payers’ hard earned monies, your sweat and my blood…

In this land, very funny, the police, the ministers and the authorities they all go after and threatened the whitleblowers who expose corrupted deeds. This bunch of people they defend and protect the corrupted with all their might !!! Why ???

Hello hello, our beloved PM, his first response was he didnt deny the monies that had gone into his account but said the monies were not for personal use ???

      • Che Det on ‘Conspiracy’ in his blog:
Lately we are seeing many funny statements. The Utusan loudly proclaimed that the Prime Minister had taken action against the Wall Street Journal.
Actually it was not legal action or suing for defamation. Just politely asking the Wall Street Journal why do they publish the article.
Is there a need to ask that silly question? Isn’t it obvious that as a newspaper the information obtained by Wall Street Journal was sensational. Any newspaper, convinced of the authenticity of the information would have printed it. Of course the local mainstream papers will not for obvious reasons.
To ingratiate themselves with the Prime Minister they would rather mislead people. The sub-editors are good at writing misleading headlines. For example when a statement is made to let the task force of four do their work this is headlined as support for the Prime Minister.
Then there was a minister who, after saying that the interim report shows nothing wrong with 1MDB, then went on to advise people not to say anything about 1MDB until the report is out. But he himself had made a premature statement.
To all comments made against 1MDB, the standard answer is to deny, to say “No it is not true.” It is like somebody upon being asked whether he had stolen the money as alleged, simply denies that he had stolen, expecting the judge to acquit him simply because he denied.

  4. CAT senior said, I did a Google search to re-read Pua’s reply to Abdul Rahman, which was a Malaysiakini report dated July 2, 2015, entitled : ‘I’ve no clue who Justo is, says Pua’.

lim/kee whoever he is is a real dunggu. He do not understand that thief and blackmailer will lie without blinking an eye just like the opposition adn the senior CAT. Trying to emulate his surname will not make you any smarter but then you are either too smart or dumb to always call the others stupid. Ain`t that racial….. The Thai police have identified the 10 persons and Malaysian police is calling on them to co-operate or risk being arrested.

  5. Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown has made public emails between her and journalist Lester Melanyi to prove that he was not involved in the whistleblower site’s expose on 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). In an email interview with The Malaysian Insider, she said the emails sent by Melanyi to her, from March 1 till recently, revealed that he knew nothing about the 1MDB expose or what she was doing, given that he had asked very “basic questions”. She added this gave her the impression that he was merely “fishing” for information.

  6. The Special Task Force that was set up to investigate the allegations regarding 1MDB now has to suspend its investigation due to this current development. The Special Task Force conducted its investigation based on the earlier evidence. However, since this evidence is now suspect the investigation can no longer proceed.

The Special Task Force now has to request, through the Malaysian police, for permission to interview Justo to find out whether the evidence was fabricated or doctored. Only once that has been established can the Special Task Force continue its investigation.

This certainly adds a new dimension to the entire Justogate affair. The Special Task Force cannot continue its job until and unless it is given permission to interview Justo and establish whether the evidence it is using as the basis of the investigation is kosher

Once its has been established that the documents has been doctored or fabricated, then the whole case against 1MDB fall apart. The police would need to take the necessary action against these opposition and individual that use these fabricate document to tarnish the country image. police would take the necessarey action the 10 person who have met

  7. Justo denied any claim of tampered documents, all the emails and information in his hands are genuine.

Zahid’s colleague, a fellow minister, has admitted that he said the documents were tempered with based on his own logical assumption. Can you believe that logical assumption that justo tempered with the documents??? Concorting lies are Umno/BN’s habitual behaviour !!!

I think we must not because of we hate DAP so much that we are willing to make fools of ourselves. There is really no need for such self humiliation, most pitiful !!! Mr Steven Yang, got it ? Enough !!!

    • lim, Can we believe in someone or a blackmailer like Justo that steal and blackmail his own company and later sell them to other people for money. The Thai police has confirmed that he has stolen document and email has been tampered. Only a fool like you would continue to be that stupid.

    • lim, Ya and you forgot about Lester videos that confirm Sarawak Report is pitching out lies and deception. Well Sarawak Report Claire sure will denied it. Would a thief or rapist admit his act.. just like the defacto. Dunggu wake up.

      • Does mercenary Lester has any credibility in the first place? As far as I know, the ‘strength of his credibility’ was supposed to be derived from his claimed previous position with the SR but this has since been refuted. He then came up with the claim of his meetings in London with Justo in a desperate attempt to remain credible but ended up further blundering with the James Steward’s photo (much like the case of LGE’s son which involved the photo of a teenage female chess champion plucked from the cyberspace}.

  8. Do not confuse Sarawak Tribune with Sarawak Report. Only ignorant and uninformed folks could be deceived into believing the spin.

  9. Why did Pua who sit in the PAC Committee did not bring up the issue of 1MDB doctored documents during their investigation. Only after PAC has cleared 1MDB of any wrong doing in its preliminary report did Pua go public about 1MDB doctored documents. He was one of the deciding Committee members and as such his comments now hold no credential is it not.

  10. A former editor of the Sarawak Report has reportedly come forward alleging a conspiracy to bring down Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the 1Malaysia Development Board. The unnamed editor reportedly gave a video confession, provided in a police report lodged this morning, offering “solid evidence” of the conspiracy. In the video, the editor alleged that Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown, a British national, had forged documents used to defame 1MDB in several exposes published by the site.
    http://www.malaysia-today.net/ex-swak-report-editor-reveals-clare-brown-tampered-with-documents-as-part-of-plot-to-topple-najib-rahman-dahlan/

A whole slew of local and international media organisations, operating in Malaysia and Singapore, may be called up by police for publishing articles citing documents allegedly falsified by former PetroSaudi International employee Xavier Andre Justo – who has been detained on blackmail charges.
    http://www.therakyatpost.com/news/2015/06/24/media-firms-may-be-next-to-face-police-probes-in-fake-petrosaudi-leak-scandal/

“Thai police have received confirmation from their Singaporean counterparts that there was a secret meeting between Justo and several individuals from the Opposition, as well as the owner of a media group. “In fact, the Thai police have admitted that these individuals were involved in stealing, falsifying, and altering the PetroSaudi documents,”
    http://limsiansee.blogspot.com/2015/07/case-unraveling-walls-closing-in.html
    ——
PAC prelimniary report show that 1MDB has been clearing of any wrong doing whatsoever.. Tony Pua and about 8 oppositions were in the Committee. Pua met in Justo, Claire and others in Singapore and Thai police has confirmed that they were involved in stealing, fabricating and tampering of documents.

Now Pua had accuse 1MDB of doctoring when PAC had cleared 1MDB of all wrong doing. Remember he was part of that team. Now he accuse 1MDB of doctoring. Is this not a joke. He is just trying to extricate himself from the fraud, staeling, fabricating and tampering.

The Thai, Singapore and local police is doing a good job. Let the police investigate. If Pua, Rafizi and who ever else is found guilty of falsifying things….. they should be charged in according to the law.

DAP is hoping for Gerakan Harapan Baru but they are going for Gerakan POOCHIT

    • Very quick to believe Raja Petra, very quick to disbelieve Sarawak Report and WSJ ! 🙂

Good luck to all the political turncoats in their propaganda battle for their
hero the 1PM. Too bad not many Malaysians believe you or your hero 🙂

    • Sarawak Report founder and editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown has dismissed new claims by Barisan Nasional (BN) that the whistleblower website published forged documents on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), saying that the editor who made a “confession” video on the matter never worked for the London-based site.

      • Has the PDRM made any attempt to get hold of this ‘former SR editor’ to assist in their investigation?(since they are kind of quick in wanting to call ‘the opposition leader’ for questioning}. Moreover, the alleged transaction of stolen information happened in Singapore and the affected company is registered and based outside Malaysia. So what offence has been committed by the said opposition leader that is within the jurisdiction of the Malaysian law?

      • In any whistle-blowing case such as this, shouldn’t the investigators (FIRST) look into the accused’s accounts & other factors for more incriminating evidences to be sure no stones are unturned to reveal the worms?
Instead we are seeing a hot pursue after the sources of whistle-blowing!

In a local cultural belief, you are forewarned not to whistle in the house after dusk & call for prayers.
Doing so will invite the devils, demons or penunggu. So it seems whistle-blowing can be harmful to the whistlers for whatever intent or purpose.

    • Zahid must respond ro this statement fron LKS:

“For weeks, the home minister, the inspector-general of police (IGP) and the Umno/BN government generally made fools of themselves with the story of ‘blackmail by tampered email’, as they seem incapable of understanding that there could be no blackmail if the emails had been ‘tampered’ or doctored – as any such ‘blackmail’ could be simply foiled by denying their truth or veracity.

“Now that the truth is finally established, that Justo never tampered with the PSI emails and documents, and the tale of ‘several Malaysians alleged to have directed Justo to manipulate and tamper with information stolen from his former employers, PSI’ was a pure concoction and figment of imagination, Zahid owe an explanation and apology to Malaysians for this canard and lie,”

  11. PAS- ulama says it may field non-Muslim candidates against the DAP in GE14.

Good luck finding your “non-Muslim candidates”!

  12. Why they did not join Pkr or DAP. Very clear cut. They do not want to play.second fiddle knowing full well they are rejected item

    • Mounting evidence from present and ex-officials now indicates that Jho Low not only forged deals behind the scenes on behalf of Najib, but that he publicly dominated these meetings of the Board.

Taek Jho Low holds an American passport, which is in contravention of Malaysia’s strict nationality laws that only permit a single citizenship.

It perhaps explains his current refusals to submit to requests to attend the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee hearing in KL, as has been requested.

  13. Young activists rue ‘directionless’ opposition
PKR, DAP and Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) were unable to present coherent plan to rebuild a new opposition coalition, said Demi Malaysia, an NGO comprising young activists.

Most questions revolved around the directionless nature of the opposition which appear unable to resolve the crisis of cooperation among the parties,” it said.

    http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/305142

As we knew all along DAP and PKR have always wanted to kiss and hold PAS. BuT DAP has become too arrogant. PAS did the right thing to divorce. Now these 3 new bed fellow can start dreaming. Many jokers really thought that DAP help PAS to win seat not realizing it was both way round. Yes, now they can start dreaming.

With Anwar in jail and the bungling of these 3 bedfellow that could not even have a direction, we shall see their demise just like Pakatan. The dream of DAP & PKR amd these Harapan shall vanish next GE. A little bit of victory, and they think they have conquered the world. You bet Selangor and Penang be finished for DAP & PKR. It will not be easy but it will be closed but BN shall have the advantage with PAS poot poot aroudn. PAS will be able to cling to Kelantan. Remember KITA once touted as the 3rd Force. Well that 3rd Force go into oblivion within a matter of 18 months. RPK predicted 5 years for Pakatan demise. I see it in 2 years and within the next 3 years DAP & PKR shall be thrashed at the next GE. Pua and Rafizi will be going to jail, you bet……..

  14. Why don’t they join PKR , DAP or PSM.
Is there a real need to set up another Islamic political brand just because of Pas?
Most of us know that Politics+ Religion = Messy
Not just that but is the new “Harapan” acceptable in Sabah & Sarawak?

      • To answer this question, you will need to think like a typical Malay, majority of whom only reads and understand BM, and subjected to decades of UMNO’s doctrine and hardwired with BTN ideology.

      • They are most likely trying to garner support from “disillusioned” PAS members who feel the current PAS Ulama leadership has lost the lot. If they join other political parties, they will be branded as traitors to their religion and PAS. As a start, they NEED to gauge the grassroots’ sentiment. If they succeed in causing an exodus from PAS to the new group, then they have the confidence that they have read the signs correctly, but I honestly feel they/we will be dissappointed. We need to understand the mentality of the larger majority of PAS members. Their number one focus is most likely religion/God. That’s why Hadi has such a tight hold on them. He is a master at using his oratory skills and years of experience as PAS president to remind PAS members of their “reward” in the afterlife should they betray PAS/God. PAS members are docile … whose ultimate desire is to do right by God. They are not the type who rock the boat. They will remain with the current PAS unless there is a huge groundswell that ignites a herd mentality. Even then, in all likeliness, a large percentage will be folk who are just following someone or someone who knows someone.

I want Harapan Baru to succeed, I really do… but I think we will be dissapointed.
