In their last-ditch bid to save their village, Kg Buah Pala villagers have now turned to Umno.
Gelugor Umno division chairman Omar Faudzar has reportedly agreed to hold talks with the developer (Nusmetro) and the landowner (the Koperasi) on Tuesday.
With this, the Buah Pala villagers have now tried almost every avenue available to them – the Pakatan state government, Hindraf, MIC, PSM, Jerit, the Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party, the Federal Court, the DPM and now Umno – as they struggle against all odds to save their village. The only parties they have not approached – as far as I know – are Gerakan (Koh Tsu Koon) and MCA.
In a way, the Kg Buah Pala saga has now come full circle. It was the BN government in Penang that approved the sale of the land (with the final payment made on 14 March 2008, after the Pakatan took over, while the temporary land title was registered on 27 March 2008).
Can the Buah Pala village be saved from demolition? Will Umno and the BN make a dramatic gesture and intervene in an attempt to recover lost Indian Malaysian support for the BN?
Meanwhile, the Koperasi has ceased updating its blog since 11 August.
The village has nine days to go before it is due for demolition.

Wasn’t that the plot all along?
Make unreasonable demands on the State Govt, refuse any compensation, shame DAP, ignore BN’s role in this fiasco, turn this into a racial issue….
then go to BN , which will then miraculously come up with a solution to end of KBP woes.
WOW! UMNO the champion of Indians in Msia!!!
And all those civil/rights activists – taken for a ride. WELL, NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED.
But seriously Anil, I am in awe of your steadfastedness and spirit of charity. U never wavered in your support of these people and always tried to see their side of the story and present them in a favourable light.
You are a genuine good guy, Anil.

The residents of Kg Buah Pala should turn to the people who know the case well – Gerakan – they are the ones who sold out them out wholesale!

Fatimah Zuhri,
Your views/comments are totally ONE-SIDED,the issue is WHO was responsible for the sale of Kg Buah Pala and don’t forget the manner and mode of the sale. Please be objective: no doubt LGE should have used the National Land Code to stop the developer in pursuing the demolition. BUT the bigger INJUSTICE was committed by Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon,ex-DCM Dato Abdul Rashid and their MIC exco sidekick who passively allowed the sale of KBP to a “corporate” at a CRIMINAL PRICE: such is the mechanism of Corporate Capitalism that is espoused by BN.

Seems that many people’s suspicion that Buah Pala residents are selfish, arrogant and corrupted is proven when some of them turned to the very people (UMNO) who sold their land in the first place.
Hindraf should be extremely ashamed for getting involved to protect a group of people who were just UMNO’s slaves.
I am an Indian who initially was very sympathetic towards KBP, but now I pray and wish that those who didnt agree for the double storey houses package and turned to UMNO will have their houses demolished as soon as possible.
Enough of KBP nonsense.

Fatimah Zuhri,
Here again you are … Im from Malacca and know Guan Eng.The men who went to jail for defending a young Malay girl who was (allegedly) raped by… But (Lim) was sent to jail for two years for that.
You saying LGE had many chances to help the KBP folks. Cammon dont “Tutup Bangkai Gajah Dengan daun”.
The malaysian Judiciary … In kampung KBP case, it happen.
Futher more the land were sold to the developer during UBN/Flip-flop/Kui Sok Kon time. After DAP took over Penang in Mac 2008, many of the land file went missing. (Distroyed by the former Barisan N assenblymen to cover them self?].The land was sold to Koperasi kakitangan kerajaan Penang which (allegedly) has the link to the ruling Regime. Why Kui Soh Kon never come forward to answer and settle these problem when LGE call him?Its KTK … that he left behind .That why he dare notcome.
Bro Anil,
Believe me. If that UBN Regime win the Mac 08 election , do you think they will stop bulldozing the KBP?They will say u … dan tinggal secara haram di tanah ini. Ini Tanah Kerajaan Negeri n u are considered tresspassing. And the court case will be siding them tooo.
At least the Penang Goverment offered The KBP folks a house worth of 500k and land to build temple.
These people should apreciate that.
Dont wory Fatimah, … Come PRU 13 , UBN will be a history.

Fatimah,
Please come to your senses. The problem was created by Koh Susu Khoon and UMNO !
They are the culprits… behind the sale.
PR was just a new govt. but the little Napoleans pull their work fast !
And worst of all, Uthayakumar, makkal sakti ala Thantiren,MIC, PSM etc made things worst. But none of u people ever blamed UMNO and Koh Susu Khoon ?? Even Uthayakumar didnt even want to mention the name Umno>>?????
LGE and pakatan have done a good job so far in ruling Penang.
Remember.. not all INDIANs are supporters of Hindraf or Makkal Sakti or MIC……

Right! ask from umno, why not?. Why don’t just ask from Najib, like Saiful did, he met with Najib at Najib’s house and ask for scholarship (if I am remember correctly). Or just ask Tiong to help, I heard he has the “ATM machine”, he can withdraw money…
These KBP people simply amazing! they not only demand the unbelievable they also believe the unbelievable…

Thiagarajan,
Numestro is a company (allegedly) linked to (a tycoon).
UMNO is not about to let their economic interest be … around…
The best case scenario here would be for Numestro to up the offer slightly for the KBP residents so as to spite LGE. The worst case would be for the residents get (nothing). Which scenario is more plausible?

“Fatimah Zuhri” my foot. Sounds more like Khairy Jamaluddin if you ask me. Same twisted logic and racial chip on the shoulder, same devious intent. The whole Kg Buah Pala affair has been distorted and hijacked by too many hidden agendas obscuring two simple truths: (1) The BN state govt under KTK pulled a fast one on the residents and created yet another major mess; (2) regardless of the legal complexities it’s clear that some KBP folks are genuinely fond of their quaint little niche and found ready support among the more romantic among us (who are sick and tired of soulless urban sprawl), others were holding out for more money, and another faction was playing BN politics as part of a plot to rock and rattle LGE’s administration. In the end EVERYBODY loses – even the developer, because the negative karma and publicity generated assures The Oasis an unfortunate outcome…. not right away but several years down the line.

I used to sympathize with the KBP folks but now I only see them as a bunch of greedy umno slaves who doesn’t know the meaning of gratitude. The news said that eight families who had earlier agreed to the double-storey terrace house deal had returned the signed agreements to the developer. I hope they know what they are doing. LGE has done a lot for them, I’m sure a lot of people view it that way, and although it may sound cruel but I can’t wait to see their houses being demolished. Serve them right for playing hard ball.

Fatimah, aren’t you a tad curious, why KBP didn’t go to MIC or Gerakan also BN party ?
Like I said, good strategy to ensure WIN.
Anyhow, Pakatan supporters you guys should stop hassling KBP because as long as KBP gets to keep their homes, we all should be genuinely happy.
LGE cannot help KBP but if someone else can, why not.
It doesn’t matter whether the cat is black or white, as long it can catch the rat.
Be objective here folks, this is not a popularity contest BN or Pakatan, ok.
If we don’t look at it from a racial point of view or from which party we support, KBP can save their homes, we should be happy for them.

Umno regime will die by it self before GE13. Mark
my word in this. Ha ha ha …
Umno is portrayed by P.Pasir candidate. Full of
multiple (dubious) cases. Are you in state of denial on this ???
Total of 6 By Election that your Parti Keramat was pushed , stepped and (rejected). Are you in state of denial on this ???
As for P.Pasir by Election , i am laughing all the way as winner…Hidup PAS.. ha ha ha ha ..Sore looser.
So all in all you can go and fly kite for the rest of your life… No point you bark at LGE and his administration. The fact is he rule’s Penang now and for many more years to come.
Your parti … will be doomed forever.
