Najib, watch this: Mahathir mobbed in KL

Check this out. The reception Mahathir got at a function should give Najib something to think about, maybe even a few sleepless nights.

Now, I am no Mahathir fan. Like many others, I believe the rot – the concentration of power and rampant corruption – in this country began during his tenure. But credit to him for persistently highlight the 1MDB fiasco.

Still, I believe the wily Mahathir is riding on a wave of public discontent with the administration helmed by Najib, whose popularity is at an all-time low. (Memo to Wong Chun Wai: Media ‘public relations’ propaganda e.g. The Star’s fawning front-page interview with Najib yesterday, is not going to help.)

There is something else percolating beneath the surface, and it is not just due to 1MDB and all those scandals, GST and price hikes, though these may have hastened the premier’s plunging approval ratings.

More seriously for Umno, its traditional support base has cracked.

What has caused this fragmentation? Check out Francis Loh’s analysis in Aliran.

    • Very good speech by Dr M. Unfortunately the mainstream media did not report it. Noticed there was no mic from TV3, TV1 and Awani. So the rural Malays are deprived of the information. We should send the clip on WhatsApp to the kampung Malays.

    • MACC cannot reveal the identity of the individual who gave RM2.6 billion to Najib Razak, saying doing so would violate the MACC Act 2009.

MACC director of special operations, Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin, said the anti-graft commission had no issue disclosing the details of the probe into the donation as well as SRC International if the laws were amended.

    • Media statement by DAP Johor Chairman Liew Chin Tong on 19th December 2015 in Johor:

An UMNO – PAS coalition and its impact on all of us
A coalition between UMNO and PAS is very likely to take shape following Prime Minister Najib Razak’s speech at UMNO General Assembly recently, as well as Najib and Hadi Awang’s joint appearance in pink Baju Melayu at the Regional Conference (Multaqa Serantau) for Al-Azhar Graduates yesterday.
The UMNO-PAS merger is part of a series of “once-in-a-generation” political earthquakes, aftershocks and realignments in 2015 and beyond.
On the one hand, in the aftermath of clean sweep of the conservative faction at the PAS Muktamar elections on 6 June, the progressives formed Parti Amanah Negara on 16 September. Pakatan Rakyat ceased to exist and a new coalition Pakatan Harapan was formed on 22 September.
Before the actual split, internal debate within PAS was focused on two issues:
      1) Whether Islam is for the well-being of all or merely for Muslims; and 2) Whether to work with a corrupt UMNO or to work with other progressive parties opposing UMNO’s rule.
On the other hand, Najib suffered irreparable loss of credibility as a result of the series of scandals involving the RM2.6 billion donation, 1MDB, poor management of the economy and the GST fiasco. An UMNO-led by Najib is a Titanic on the way to doom.
In the course of that journey, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was sacked for sticking his neck out to question the integrity of Najib. And the chairs on the deck of the Titanic were reshuffled.
More realignment is expected to happen.
First, despite Najib’s hold on UMNO leaders, the same cannot be said about UMNO grassroots. For Muhyiddin and others who were sidelined by Najib, it’s the end of the road within UMNO but there is a huge space outside UMNO as millions of Malaysians, especially Malay voters, are upset with Najib and the party he led over corruption and poor management of the economy.
Second, many in PAS joined PAS because they were opposed to UMNO, especially those who joined PAS in the aftermath of Anwar’s sacking in 1998. They won’t be part of a PAS that is aligned to Najib’s UMNO when UMNO is devoid of any public trust and integrity at all. To many PAS members, UMNO is still lacking in its Islamic credentials. Therefore, there is a likelihood of a second split in PAS.
The only weapon in the arsenal of Najib’s UMNO and Hadi’s PAS is their narrowly defined race and religion sentiments. Everyone else – Muhyiddin’s camp, those among the second exodus of PAS, PKR, Amanah and DAP – would have to build a platform offering hope, unity and a new economic deal.
And that new economic deal has to convince Malaysians, especially ordinary Malays, that UMNO is holding on to power in the name of Malays but for the interests of its cronies only, and that UMNO cronies are indeed hurting the economic interests of ordinary Malays.
With the falling ringgit, oil prices, palm oil prices, and endless scandals involving the Prime Minister, the anger on the ground is building up. The Titanic called UMNO will soon hit the proverbial iceberg, taking Passenger PAS along with it. Even UMNO and PAS members realise this potential disaster.
As for MCA’s Liow Tiong Lai and Wee Ka Seong – who are trying hard to make themselves sound relevant – they should know that in the eyes of Malaysians, they are just a bunch of jokers caught in the big wave. Soon, they will be submerged in the waters as they had no clue of what’s going on in the larger scheme of things.
This is not the time to show off political rhetoric. It’s time to face the great challenge of getting Malaysia out of this horrible political quagmire.

  5. Former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad are planning to use a two-pronged strategy against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, according to a political insider.

The first part entails convincing the grassroots and the 30,000 branch chiefs to abandon the prime minister, said an Asia Sentinel report today.

This would include distributing books and pamphlets detailing corruption as well as holding ceramahs for the grassroots members.

The second part is more long-term – preparing for the party elections due to be held in 2018.

    • Today southern Penang fishermen being cooled off by Penang gomen saying opportunities to change career to become speed boat operators ferrying passengers from south to north of wherever people want to go, hahaha!

  9. And all of us have to pay to such a crappy govt.
Dr. Madey created many Frankensteins during his 22 years.

The most glaring evidence and outcome of the recently-concluded UMNO annual general assembly was undoubtedly that the political party continues to cast a pall of gloom over the nation by its dark presence.

If anything more can be gauged from this UMNO gathering, it is a certain fact that they are going down the wrong way. By harking on their hare-brained “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay Supremacy ideology, UMNO has caused the silent majority of Malays to become ashamed and embarrassed.

This is because the larger majority of Malays, who do not support fully the ideals of UMNO, are of the opinion and view that there is no such thing as a superior race and that in the eyes of Almighty Allah everyone is equal, irrespective of race, religion or nationality.

This is where UMNO has erred greatly. UMNO has failed miserably to take into account that not only are the larger majority of Malays disappointed with them, but a growing many Malaysians have become angry and outraged by the hardcore racism exhibited by UMNO.

Nothing more can be further from the truth that even within UMNO there are rumblings of discontent and dissent and the cracks are beginning to appear on the façade of UMNO but it is being earnestly papered up to cover the fact that all is not well with the lynchpin political party of Barisan Nasional (BN).

      Factionalism within UMNO

While UMNO’s propaganda machinery was quick to hide the fact that the political party is going through a crisis that has become protracted and prolonged, there is no mistaking the fact that the unhappiness present at this annual general assembly showed that it is due for some major changes and reform.

But the stumbling block appears to be those at the pinnacle of power within UMNO. These individuals are unwilling to let go and transform the political party to make it relevant. Instead these leaders of UMNO are trying to become some kind of junta hell-bent on clinging on to power.

Over the last two general elections the sway and hold, the grip of UMNO-BN over Malaysia has been steadily eroding and more and more Malaysians are jumping on the bandwagon to opt out of supporting them.

The prime reason for this is because many Malaysians firmly believe and are now irrevocably convinced that UMNO no longer champions democracy and have failed to subscribe to the tenets and obligations of democracy such as fair play, justice and meritocracy.

UMNO fails to play by the rules of the game

It has been quite a while since UMNO has erred from the path of democracy. If earlier the effects of not being compliant to democracy did not surface, now, under the specter of globalization, UMNO is a political party on the verge of cracking up and becoming redundant.

But the UMNO leadership has galvanized its propaganda machinery to promote the fallacy that all is well by churning facts and facts that have been doctored and manipulated to paint a rosy picture to the Malays but which shows in actuality and truth that they are not playing by the rules of the game.

In UMNO now, there is a schism, a dichotomy between creed and deed. It looks as if, seemingly , that on the surface UMNO is faring well, but look beyond the propaganda and hype and you will see that the rot has set in and a certain evil malaise or dark presence emerging within UMNO.

While the religious, the spiritual and the purists might argue and state that this is because UMNO members are actually ‘kafir’ or have become infidels, whether or not this is the reason for so many dark matters emerging out of UMNO, is hard to ascertain and certify or verify.

But what is certain is there is a great deal of suspicion and disquiet by many Malaysians over the way and manner in which UMNO leaders are supposedly (allegedly) involved in the untimely murders and deaths of Altantuya Sharribu…

      UMNO’s dubious and suspicious ways

In Malaysia now, if a person goes about the length and breadth of the country to discuss politics, there is easily available evidence that can be gathered that most Malays have shifted their political stance to a neutral position while the majority of Chinese and Indians swing with the opposition.

This is really the outcome and research of many independent political analysts and commentators that there is a growing shift of the political stance of most Malays to a neutral position and the fact that they are adopting a “wait-and-see” attitude.

It is these fence-sitting Malays for which the opposition is gunning overtime to join their fold. The reason for this stance taken by most Malays is that they believe there is no smoke without fire and that it is beyond doubt that there is more than a grain of truth to allegations against the prime minister.

This is why the belief of erstwhile prime minister Mahathir Mohammad and sacked deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin that the leadership of UMNO must change is gaining credence among Malaysians and Malays who believe that they are responsible for systematically destroying the nation.

UMNO in a do or die state

No one is indispensable. This is what most Malaysians realize and understand and in the coming months it remains to be seen to the run up to the 14th general election if the obstinacy displayed by Najib and the deadwood within UMNO for failing to step down will cause the rot that has set in to exacerbate.

There is a fine line between defiance and determination and whether Najib and his fellow inept and deadwood leaders are being defiant or determined will be known eventually, in due course and in time to come.

This is why it is better that Najib and these leaders of UMNO-BN who have evidently failed the country be removed from holding political positions as soon as possible or Malaysians will have to face up to the dire possibility that these misfiring leaders will cause greater damage to the country and people.

Malaysians failed badly and missed the opportunity to oust BN from power in the 13th GE and now they are paying the price and suffering miserably and are airing numerous grouses and complaints over a BN government who has not lived up to their expectations at all.

Virtually none of the promises of BN’s 13th GE manifesto has come to pass. In fact, what has actually been steadily taking place in a most frightening way and manner is the deterioration and regress of this country into almost Third World kind of conditions.

This is what most Malaysians who are better informed and better educated are able to deduce and this is why unless the whole bunch of the present crop of BN-UMNO leaders are replaced it will only be a matter of time before the death knell sounds on UMNO and BN. – MAILBAG

  10. Ha ha. Umno dare not sack Mahathir and Muhyiddin but bullied those small fries who support the 2 Ms.

  11. All feudal hegemonistic movement, inherently parasitic, has this project problem of eventual fragmentation. From Roman Empire, Mafias, Nazi, dictatorship. communism, they eventually falter and breakaway. But they do not die easy. KKK is a renmant of Nazi which got inspired by the Romans.

But the radical Islam is the most efficient of them all and will be the most stubborn to defeat.

Najib is playing Fire with Hadi’s PAS at the cost of our future. He is a many times loser in high stakes poker – just someone else pays for it – go ask Muhiyiddin and Shafie Apdal. e issue is how dumb Sarawakian and Sabahan trust even their BN leaders with a sure loser like Najib.

  12. Truly, truly, if pakatan harapan cannot win in the next general election, those who can leave, pack and leave by all means.

Looking at the current situation, am sure Anil sure feels regret at times returning to this wonderfoooooool land !!!

  13. If Najib is secured with majority support, he would not need the NSC Act – Najib’s Survival Contingency Act, right?

  14. A picture speak a thousand words.
Go to this article and see the face of Mahathir and how he has been humilaited and tore apart
When Umno gave Najib a standing ovation only two people on stage did not stand up — Muhyiddin and Shafie. On the second standing ovation, Muhyiddin and Shafie had no choice but to also stand and join the applause. That is a fate worse than sacking from the party.

Tenth of December is the day Najib demolished his detractors

    • Humiliated Che Det should now leave PWTC turun padang to the kampungs to give live ceramah at pondoks as he has no access to TV1, TV3, TV9, Awani, Utusan, BH, Metro and Kosmo while the rural folks do not read his blog.

    • As real as the “massive applause” for the Dear Leader of North Korea.

Standing ovation only as long as the $$$ keeps coming their way from
      the 1PM.

  15. Najib self proclaimed to be a gentleman while muzzled Muhyiddin and later yelled madly that he shall not retreat and surrender.

Many analysts said Najib got support from the division Chiefs but not the grassroots of Umno. Perhaps the political donations are vaporized at the stem and could not trickle down to the roots?

    • The tree stump did not get the 2.6 billion nourishment, muted and set to rot as deadwood in the party. At age 90, the former strongman got live lecture and endured direct insults from the desperate gentleman.

  16. WCW – Wrote a heart touching stories about Najib. So sweet and realistic feeling about Najib.Good writer but to buy his stories like buying his saliva.

rajraman. If i wrote anything even it’s truth nobody bother.Lies can be true and the truth can be lies subject who buy WCW stories since he is a writer. One of WCW best stories pluck from the sky.
Good bye Anil – take care and send my regards to all expecially tunglang and Benny.
Thanks for giving some space in your blog. Will be back when free.I am not a politician, member of any Political Party but my wish UMNO should EXPIRED.Give a chance to Dead Pakatan without PAS but don’t allow them to be another UMNO.

rajraman. What puzzle me more the human character who read this blog.
You supported me you got 2 votes and i got zero.
I even voted Benny up since what he said is true about UMNO although he worship the Deity.
Post this comment since it’s rude not responding to you and i don’t run away from any question.

Thank you Lim.$$$ do wonders and Political alliance blindly do wonders To Politician Benefits.

  17. UNNO slogan “Melayu Bersatu” with Najib or Dr M’s camp? Luring carrot for Hadi & demonising DAP being latest resort to pull in Malay support, not knowing racial or religious strategy may backfire as the rakyat out priority over cost of living improvement?

    • Najib openly offered PAS a relationship (tali silaturrahim) and brother‎hood (ikatan ukhuwah) towards building a ‘perfect Malaysia’.

BN is thus not deemed perfect with MCA, MIC, PPP and Gerakan?
Is Umno ready to embrace hudud to be perfect?

Liow, Mah, Subramaniam and Kayveas please explain to us.

      • Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), menyifatkan pelawaan Presiden Umno Najib untuk bekerjasama dengan Pas hanyalah helah Umno mencari dahan berpaut selepas lemah akibat pergolakan dalaman parti itu.

  18. Another small group Anil is using as consolation for the opposition. Turn to the other sides of the coin and see how Mahathir fireworks which he started one year ago has turn into pop pop crackers during the Umno assembly
